Eating on fireworks night

The Busan Fireworks Festival is on Saturday 7 November this year. The show runs for about an hour from 7 pm over the sea at Gwangalli. Watching is free from anywhere on the beach, but crowds arrive from the afternoon and the beach road is closed. Bloggers say the beach convenience stores have long lines, so buy food and drinks before you come.

Seats for fireworks night

Restaurants work differently on festival day. We read 200 Korean blog posts written around the 2024 and 2025 festivals. Many places with a sea view took separate bookings for their window and terrace seats that night. These seats cost much more than a normal meal, and one blogger who came without a booking could not get in.
Other bloggers came without a booking. One joined a waiting list at 5:30 pm and only got a table after the fireworks ended. Another found long lines and closed kitchens all along the beach after the show, and walked a long way to eat. On fireworks night, eat early in the afternoon, book a seat, or eat a stop or two away after the show.
Below are the places that bloggers said took bookings for the night. Booking rules change every year, so ask the place about this year before you go.

Fireworks night

  • 2025 festival day: a friend bought the seats ahead of time, and each table had the guest's name on it. The first row by the window costs the most; the second row costs less. The window frame blocks part of the view.
  • 2025 festival (Nov 15): tables booked first come, first served. No price is given. There are only four window tables; they were full even early on a normal Friday evening. You cannot change tables during the meal.
  • Before the 2025 festival, the owner said they take fireworks-festival bookings. No price or booking method is given. Grilled items start at three servings. You can use the building's tower parking, but not with an electric car.

How we counted

Naver and Daum are Korea’s big web portals. Koreans use them the way much of the world uses Google, and many people post restaurant reviews on blogs there. Those posts are in Korean, so most visitors never see them. We searched there for “Gwangalli restaurants”, “Gwangalli ocean view restaurants” and similar words in Korean, and used AI to read and analyze 200 of the posts. We count a post only if the writer really ate there. One blogger counts once for a place, even with many posts. We left out places more than 1.3 km from the middle of the beach. For the fireworks-night list, we searched separately for “Gwangalli fireworks restaurant” and read 200 more posts written around the 2024 and 2025 festivals. Those posts are not used for the order of the main list. For posts that say they were sponsored, we keep only the facts. We mark their praise and do not use it for the order. The list puts places with no complaints first, then places more bloggers went to. There is no score.

The dish pictures are drawings made by Gilpost from the posts. They are not photos of the real food.
