Japanese

Daidokoro

다이도코로 Daidokoro is Japanese for 'kitchen' — one post notes the name means 부엌 (kitchen), fitting a house that serves Japanese home-style set meals.

Compiled from 27 blog posts read in fullSources →

Daidokoro is a Japanese home-cooking restaurant on the second floor of a building in the alley facing Namcheon Beach Park, at the far end of Gwangalli Beach (27 Namcheondong-ro 108beon-gil, Suyeong-gu, Busan). Fried mains — karaage, pork-cutlet curry, chicken nanban — come on one tray with fried-egg rice, miso soup, small sides like croquette and fried tofu, and a milk pudding. In autumn 2026 posts a single set ran 13,900–14,900 won and the two-person sets 35,900 (B) and 40,900 won (A). Eight posts ordered from a tablet or kiosk at the table. We read 30 posts from 13 August to 8 October 2026; leaving out one about a different place and two diary entries with only a check-in, 27 are first-hand visits.

Rows without a count: 3 of 20 posts.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Expect a wait at meal times. Six posts say they queued and three walked straight in. Only one gives a time — about five minutes — and two others call it brief. One group arrived right at 5 pm as the break ended and got in at once; another got in on an early weekday evening but had queued on a previous weekend visit. The waitlist runs on a CatchTable machine at the door.
  2. Sixteen posts say the portions are large — one couple of big eaters found set A enough for two, another writer was almost too full to move. Set A pairs the karaage and pork-cutlet curry trays with a small udon, four pieces of shrimp toast and a drink.
  3. Twenty-one posts call the frying crisp — the point posts agree on most. 'Crisp outside, moist inside' recurs, and one writer liked that the coating is thin enough not to mask the chicken. Six mention juiciness and four say it isn't greasy.
  4. The room is small: six posts call it compact or not spacious, two found it bigger than expected. Tables for two and four are mixed — one counted three twos and four fours — and five posts mention a private room at the back for groups.
2 more
  1. Five posts found power banks or chargers to use at the table; others noted hair ties, floss and hand cream laid out by the restroom.
  2. Nine posts mention the review event (a pudding or croquette for posting a review). Two describe discounts for office workers, students, pregnant guests and others; one notes these don't apply on weekends and holidays.

Parking

4 posts say you cannot park. None say you can.

Posts saying you cannot4 of 27 posts

There is no parking of its own; four posts say so in their own words. The three who drove used nearby lots — two paid 4,000 won for an hour and got 1,000 won cash back from the restaurant on the way out. One SUV driver couldn't fit a mechanical lot and found space at a nearby shopping arcade.

Getting inside

Second floor13 of 27 posts
Toilet inside1 of 27 posts

It is upstairs. Thirteen posts note the second floor, several describing the climb from the street door by stairs. The stairwell is decorated with a guestbook, a mirror and menu polls, and three posts mention chairs on the stairs or by the door for waiting.

No one wrote about a step at the entrance, a lift, or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. Posts only say it is upstairs and they took the stairs — that doesn't mean there is no lift, just that nobody mentioned one.

One post says the restroom is inside, near the entrance. Nobody said whether it is separated by gender or how big it is.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 29 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Posts disagree on the curry's heat: two say it has none, one calls it mildly spicy-sweet. One post found the kkanpunggi a little spicy.
  • Opening hours all come from information blocks copied into the posts, not from anything the writers checked. They agree: daily 11:00–21:00, last order 20:00, break 15:00–17:00. Nine say the break is weekdays only, and two say there is no closing day.
  • Prices have gone up. A menu shown with an October 2025 receipt listed the karaage and pork-cutlet curry sets at 13,000 won and the two-person set at 32,000; posts from September–October 2026 give 14,900, 13,900 and 35,900 (set B). In between, the chicken-skin gyoza in the sets became shrimp toast and Sapporo draft became Kirin. Prices on this page are from the 2026 posts.
  • Many posts give the same phone number, 0507-1411-8402. Two booked through Naver or CatchTable; one had heard phone bookings are hard to get on weekends.
  • Several posts repeat the same search phrases ('Namcheon-dong Japanese', 'Geumnyeonsan station lunch', 'Gwangalli restaurant') in titles and text. None discloses sponsorship; one visit came through the SuperMembers review platform. The house's own claims — curry aged 100 hours, meat trimmed the same day, the TV-show plaque and Blue/Red Ribbon awards — are repeated, not observed, so we didn't count them. One visitor called it just so-so for a trip.
