Cafe

ESSO

에쏘카페 Esso Kape Esso is Korean café shorthand for espresso; the place calls itself essobar on Instagram.

Compiled from 23 blog posts read in fullSources →

A café on the second floor of the W Hotel building at 207 Gwanganhaebyeon-ro, right on Gwangalli Beach. People come to sit at the windows facing Gwangan Bridge over coffee, ades and slices of cake; beer and wine are sold too. On the February 2026 menu an americano was 6,000 won, lattes 6,800–7,500 won, and cakes 8,000–8,500 won. Posts from summer 2026 on give a 10 a.m. opening with midnight closing on Saturdays only; earlier posts gave 9 a.m. and midnight Friday to Sunday. We read 28 posts dated September 30, 2025 to September 27, 2026; 23 describe an actual visit, and the other 5 only name the café in a list of places.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. The windows are the point. Of the 23 visit posts, 20 mention the window seats or the view of Gwangan Bridge through the glass. There is a row of bar seats facing the sea, and the seats behind are also turned toward the windows. The windows are often opened; one winter visitor felt the sea wind come straight in and found the chocolate coating on their roll cake had gone hard at the window seat. One post notes that the window seats are the most popular and hard to get.
  2. It is a café that also sells alcohol: seven posts mention beer and three mention wine. The February 2026 menu lists Asahi (380ml) at 9,000 won and Guinness (380ml) at 10,000 won, and one visitor saw many lunchtime customers drinking Kozel Dark. No post actually ordered a beer.
  3. Two posts describe the service. In one, the owner brought the drinks to the table himself. In the other, a foreign object turned up in the tiramisu roll; the owner brought a warm chamomile tea, apologized and waived the drinks bill. One post says ordering was done at a kiosk.
  4. Four posts say the portions are generous: two mention coffee in a large cup, and one points to a very big blueberry smoothie.

Parking

Posts saying you can park1 of 23 posts

The café has no lot of its own. Several posts copy the same notice: spend 30,000 won or more and you get one hour per table at the Deungdae lot behind the building. One post says they actually parked that way. Another driver found parking hellish on a Saturday evening drone-show night.

Getting inside

Second floor13 of 23 posts
Toilet inside4 of 23 posts
Separate restrooms2 of 23 posts

You climb stairs to get in. Thirteen posts describe going up to the second floor by stairs, and one notes the steps felt a little high. The ground-floor entrance is plain enough that one visitor took it for a restaurant; several mention the big mirror by the door as a photo spot.

We don't know whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in. Many posts describe taking the stairs to the second floor, but none mentions an elevator or whether there is a step at the door. That doesn't mean there isn't one; nobody wrote about it.

The restroom is inside the café. Four posts mention it, and two of them say it is split by gender. One places it left of the counter and notes the women's side has a single stall, so there may be a wait on weekends.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 28 posts we gathered, 5 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Opinions on space differ: five posts call it roomy, one says there aren't many seats. One describes mostly two-seat tables, a single large communal table in the middle, and some four-seat tables.
  • Cleanliness splits two to one: two posts found the restroom clean, while one said the place didn't feel tidy, the windows were dirty, and they wouldn't return.
  • Opinions on price split one to one: one post calls the drinks a bit pricey, another says the prices are fair for the view. The figures also vary. An americano was 6,000 won on the February 2026 menu (that writer noted it was up from 5,800 won on Naver), while one September 2026 post lists 5,000 won. Two posts put the tiramisu cream latte at 7,500 won; one receipt shows 8,500 won for the iced version.
  • Opening hours appear to have changed between April and July 2026. Nine posts from September 2025 to April 2026 give 9 a.m. opening, closing at 11 p.m. Monday to Thursday and midnight Friday to Sunday. Seven posts from July to September 2026 give 10 a.m. opening, 11 p.m. closing on weekdays and Sundays, and midnight on Saturdays only; of those, one says midnight on both weekend days and another says 11 p.m. every day. Most of these are copied from listings, so check before going. One post says there is no regular day off; another says it is open year-round.
  • The Christmas tree is seasonal and appears only in three posts from November 2025 to January 2026. A visitor on January 24 noted the tree was still up well after Christmas.
  • No post describes getting there by subway or bus. The ten-minute walk from Gwangan Station exit 5 appears in two posts only as copied listing info; several posts note that it is easy to find, right on the beachfront.
  • No post describes queueing to get in. Several do say window seats are hard to come by; one weekend visitor found seats started opening up around 3 p.m. and suggests sitting near the windows and moving when one frees up.
  • The phone number 0507-1424-7893 is copied across many posts. Nobody says whether you can book a table on an ordinary day. For the Gwangalli fireworks festival in November 2025 the café took window-seat reservations; one visitor who asked found them already full, and another post gave 051-758-3989 as the booking line.
