Privacy policy

What we collect, why, and how to make us delete it. In effect from 2026-10-06.

Who we are

Gilpost is run by Just Studio. Privacy officer: Gilpost privacy team · [email protected]

What we collect

  • Newsletter sign-up — your email, language, the topics you ticked, the page you signed up on, your browser (user agent), IP address and the time. We use them to send the newsletter; the IP only to stop too many sign-ups from one place. Kept until you unsubscribe; deleted on request.
  • Visit statistics (Google Analytics) — cookies, pages viewed, approximate location (country, city), device and browser. Visitors from the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland are counted only after saying yes. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, we do not load it at all.
  • Server logs — IP address, the address requested, time and browser, for security and fixing faults. Not tied to any account. The log is capped at 30 MB: the oldest lines are deleted as new ones arrive, and the whole log is cleared when the server software is reinstalled.
  • Your location ("Near me") — Your location stays in your browser. We never send it to our server and never record it — the restaurant coordinates come to you and the maths happens on your device.

Cookies

  • gp_consent — ours. Remembers your answer to the cookie question. 6 months. Set only for visitors who are asked.
  • _ga, _ga_* — Google Analytics. Up to 2 years.

Change your answer any time: Cookie settings (shown to visitors who are asked), or clear cookies in your browser.

Who else handles it

  • Cloudflare (USA) — carries every request to this site.
  • Google (USA) — Analytics (as above), web fonts, and YouTube previews on festival pages (video loads only when you press play).
  • Unsplash (USA) — photos on the front page are loaded from its servers.

These receive your IP address when your browser loads from them. We do not sell personal data. When we start sending the newsletter, the sending service will be listed here.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete what we hold about you, or to stop using it, and withdraw consent at any time. Write to [email protected].

Legal bases (EU/UK): consent for the newsletter and analytics; legitimate interest for server logs and sign-up limits. You may complain to your data protection authority.

Changes

When this changes we update the date above. Ads (Google AdSense) are not on the site yet; if we add them, this page will say so first.
