Yeonnam Toma Seongsu-jeom

연남토마 성수점 Yeonnam is the Mapo neighborhood in Seoul where, as one post notes, the Yeonnam Toma chain started before spreading across the city; the posts do not explain the word Toma.

Compiled from 19 blog posts read in fullSources →

Yeonnam Toma Seongsu sits in a converted house on an alley of Seoulsup 4-gil, near Seoul Forest. It serves Japanese-style katsu, rice bowls and curry alongside pasta and risotto; listed prices run from 12,000 won (katsu rice bowl) to 18,000 won (the brisket and flat-iron cream pastas). The most-ordered dish is the 17,000-won pollock-roe basil oil pasta, eaten in eight posts. We read 30 posts dated August 25 to October 5, 2026; 19 describe eating here. Six were set aside because they covered the Daejeon, Dongtan, Bukchon or Gimpo Airport branches, or did not say which branch.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. You order on your phone from a QR code on the table — seven posts say so, and one adds that staff take the order in person for anyone who struggles with it. Several posts list the free basics: kimchi, pickled radish, pickles or jalapeños, and a cup of udon broth.
  2. Waits depend on timing. Three posts waited: 30 minutes at Saturday lunch, third in line just after 1 pm on the Chuseok holiday, and about 20 minutes behind four groups at 3 pm. Four did not: a holiday at 4 pm, Saturday at 7 pm, early on a weekday, and one that found it quiet. A solo diner walked straight in but warned that groups may wait.
  3. The queue is run from a machine at the door (CatchTable or Tabling, depending on the post). Two posts mention waiting chairs out front, one describing the waiting area as dressed up like a photo spot.
  4. Four posts say you can book; two actually did through Naver — one got a Saturday 7 pm slot by joining the waitlist after it showed full, the other booked noon.
5 more
  1. Writing a Naver receipt review earns a free side or ade. Six posts mention it; of the five that say what they got, three received karaage, one a potato croquette and one a green-grape ade.
  2. Five posts call something spicy: three the brisket cream pasta (one self-described spice-averse diner found it hot), one the katsu curry (with a warning for small children), and one the perilla-wrap risotto, which was mildly hot.
  3. Five posts came with children. One notes there are no baby utensils and that asking for a fork gets you an adult-size one. Nobody says whether high chairs are available.
  4. Two posts found the staff friendly and one did not: that diner says nobody mentioned the udon broth had run out until asked, and the cutlet salad came without dressing.
  5. Three posts call the portions large: a mix rice bowl that overwhelmed a solo diner, the basil pasta, and a palm-sized cutlet.

Getting inside

Second floor3 of 19 posts
Step at the entrance3 of 19 posts

There is seating on two floors. Three posts mention the upper floor, and one says you reach it through the ground floor and up an outside staircase.

No post places the restaurant below ground; it is described as a raised ground floor plus an upper floor.

You climb steps to get in: three posts mention stairs at the entrance, one specifying half a flight.

No post describes getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. Three mention entrance steps; nobody mentions a ramp or elevator — which means unreported, not absent.

Nobody says where the restroom is or whether it is split by gender.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 24 posts we gathered, 5 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Not every review is warm. Two posts say they would not return and two call the food merely ordinary (one post does both); one found the pork-belly bowl very chewy with a gamey smell.
  • Opening hours come only from copied info blocks. Twelve posts give an 11:30 opening; eleven say it closes at 21:00 and one says 21:30, with last orders at 20:20 in seven. The afternoon break is disputed: two diners ate at 3–4 pm and say there is no break, while one info block lists 15:30–17:00. Two posts noted a closure on Chuseok day, September 25.
  • Prices come from posts dated late August to September 2026; one post (August 25) copied the full menu. One post calls the prices fair; none calls them expensive.
  • The phone number 0507-1335-6548 appears identically in seven copied info blocks. No one booked by phone; reservations were made through Naver or CatchTable.
  • Four list posts (date courses, budget top-10s, a tomato history piece, a Seongsu top-20) only repeat registry information and were not counted. Two comparison posts by one blogger retell the same visit in the same words, so we counted it once.
