Uweitang is a malatang shop on the ground floor of 11-1 Sangwon 1-gil in Seongsu-dong, between Ttukseom and Seongsu stations. You fill a tray from the ingredient case, have it weighed at the counter, then choose malatang (soup), malaxiangguo (stir-fried) or malaban (tossed) and a spice level from 0 to 4. Malatang cost 1,900 won per 100 g in an October 2024 post, 2,000 won in April and November 2025, and 2,100 won in September 2026; sides are guobaorou (16,000 won), fried rice (8,000 won) and mini pancakes (3,000 won). Rice is free and self-serve. We read 27 posts from October 2024 to September 2026: three were about the same-named Geomdan branch in Incheon and were set aside, and one only compared this shop inside a review of another, leaving 23 visit posts.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. There are both solo counter seats and tables; ten posts described the seating. The counter runs along the window or by the entrance for solo diners, and tables come as two-, four- and six-tops (April 2026), with four-tops pushed together for groups (April 2025).
  2. Three posts said you can charge your phone at your seat; one mentioned a power strip at each place (September 2026).
  3. Waiting is rarely reported. Three posts walked straight in: around 11:10 on a weekday (September 2026), around noon on a weekday with a few seats left (April 2026), and as a group (February 2025). One post (November 2024) warned that the small room means a real wait if you hit the lunch rush, and one more saw a line at the pay counter.
  4. Three posts said the food was slow, and all three had ordered malaxiangguo: over 30 minutes (February 2026), a bit longer than elsewhere (September 2025), and simply slow (May 2026). A malatang order in April 2026 took about ten minutes because of a backlog.
6 more
  1. Six posts called the guobaorou crisp, crunchy outside and chewy within; some noted it leans sweet rather than sour.
  2. Opinions on heat split: seven posts found it spicy, four found it milder than expected, and three didn't land either way. Several compared level 2 to Shin Ramyun; a regular who always orders level 4 said it isn't especially hot or numbing.
  3. Five posts called it clean, pointing to a tidy ingredient case and self-serve bar, and to paper cups and a water purifier.
  4. Eight posts describe return visits, many from nearby office workers and residents: one goes every week or two (May 2025), another has left three receipt reviews over about a year (September 2026).
  5. Three posts walked from the station, about four to five minutes from Ttukseom exit 5 (September 2026). One writer, reviewing another mala shop, called this location a bit awkward to reach.
  6. Six posts went with friends or acquaintances. Several noted plenty of solo diners, and one went with a grade-school son.

From the station

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 1 (of 22 posts read)
Toilet inside1 of 22 posts

No one mentioned a step at the door or wheelchair or stroller access; that means we don't know, not that there's a problem. One post noted it is on the ground floor, and several said there are doors at both front and back.

Only one post described the toilet: in August 2025 it was inside the shop but had no hand-washing sink. A May 2025 post's info line puts the toilet on the building's second floor, but that was copied, not observed. No one said whether toilets are separated by gender.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 23 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Accounts of the room's size split: three posts called it roomy, five called it small. An August 2025 post said tables are packed so close you bump the chair behind you.
  • Eleven posts give the same hours, 11:00 to 22:00 daily with a 15:00 to 17:00 break, and five add a 21:30 last order; all of these are copied info lines. For guobaorou, one post said weekdays only from 5 pm (April 2025) while another was allowed to order it at lunch (November 2024).
  • Because everything is priced by weight, a meal's cost varies: 11,000 won of malatang plus 3,000 won of lamb for one, 17,000 won of malatang for two, two bowls with beef for 24,000 won, and a 26,200-won bowl with 200 g of lamb. The per-100 g price rose from 1,900 won (through March 2025) to 2,000 won (April-November 2025) to 2,100 won (September 2026), and the malaxiangguo minimum went from 12,000 won in April 2025 to 13,000 won by June.
  • Three posts list the phone number 02-6085-5188. Reservations and group bookings are mentioned only in copied info lines; no one said they booked.
  • No post disclosed sponsorship. A February 2026 post lists spice levels 1-5 and malaxiangguo at 2,300 won per 100 g, at odds with every other post (0-4, 3,300 won), so we didn't use its prices. Three posts about the same-named Geomdan branch in Incheon, with a different menu (lamb skewers, fried eggplant) and hours, were not counted.
