Ttokboui Haru Seongsu-jeom
떡보의하루 성수점 A ttokbo is someone who loves rice cake, so the name reads as a rice-cake lover's day; it is a national rice-cake brand and this is its Seongsu branch. The shop has no Latin spelling of its own in any post we read. Worth knowing: the word ttokbo also turns up inside ordinary sentences meaning than rice cake, which is why searching the name alone brings back other shops' posts.

Ttokbo-ui Haru Seongsu is a rice-cake café on the ground floor at 63 Seongdeokjeong-gil, a dozen minutes' walk from Seoul Forest station — the Seongsu branch of a chain of more than a hundred and fifty, opened in September 2020. The counter is built on seolgi, steamed rice cakes you pick individually: the milk seolgi is named in ten posts, with a steamed-bun version in winter, whole-red-bean ones, a dried-persimmon mochi — the line changes with the season. Everything is individually wrapped, and what the shop is better known for is the boxed sets and cakes ordered for first birthdays, hundredth days and funerals. There are tables inside and coffee to drink (₩2,000–2,500). As of 2021 it opened 08:00 to 20:00 daily, and an order placed by 8pm the day before arrives on the day you ask for. But almost everything we read was written in its first year — which is the next thing to know.

What sets it apart
- There are three ways to buy here. Eleven posts mention taking it away, eight ordering ahead, and five of those a delivery. You pick the cakes one by one — a tray, a long look at the range, small packets so you can choose by taste rather than buy a mountain. Five praise the individual wrapping: easy to hand round to children, easy to carry to work. Orders close at 8pm the day before — four posts say so, and those who received one are specific: ordered two days ahead and delivered on the hour; arrived fresh and carefully packed. Two 2020 posts give the free-delivery thresholds: ₩40,000 in Seoul, ₩35,000 for the neighbouring province, ₩30,000 elsewhere. The point of the delivery here is that it is not a courier: five posts note that the boxes go out from the nearest branch, so they are made on the day you asked for and arrive that day — two say this spared them worrying about spoilage. Printed stickers are free but must be ordered two days ahead, and a company logo can be uploaded. During the pandemic you could not eat in — a September 2020 post says delivery and collection only for the time being, and a January 2021 one that it is normally a place to sit with a coffee, but not now. Whether you can sit today is not established: tables reappear in June 2021, and no post after that describes eating in.
- It is a café, not just a shop. Four posts describe tables inside and six coffee and other drinks: a large table on one side and the cakes displayed on the other; room to eat in as well as take away; a table under soft lighting with a cake and something to drink. One writer sums it up — with the drinks and the coffee it amounts to a café. The prices are gentle: ₩2,000–2,500 for a Dutch-style americano in 2021, and one writer finds the list wide and the prices kind. Two suggest sikhye, the sweet rice drink, as the thing to have with rice cake. One notes canned and bottled drinks and party supplies on the same shelf. On the room, the words converge: yellow, wood and white; a wide interior with quiet music; flowers and small objects. One used the lettering on the mirror as a photo spot. All of this, though, is from 2020 and 2021.

Parking
1 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

One writer parked. A June 2021 post says there was space beside the shop to leave the car briefly — and 'briefly' is her word, so it is not a spot to settle into. A 2024 post lists parking among the amenities, but that post copies the map listing rather than a visit, so we have not counted it. How many cars, at what cost, in a building or at the kerb — nobody says. Anyone collecting a stack of boxes might well drive, and all we know is that one person managed it once. Ring ahead; and remember the shop delivers.

Getting there

Naver Map has a full English mode — Settings → Language → English. In Korea it gives better walking and transit directions than Google Maps.
Getting inside
We do not know whether a wheelchair or a pushchair can get in. Whether there is a step at the door, how the door opens, how wide the aisles are — nobody says. That is not a no; it means we do not know. One post calls the interior wide, so the aisles are probably not tight, though we have not measured them. If it matters, ring 02-497-4417 — two posts give that number.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 21 posts we gathered, 4 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- This page describes a shop as it was five years ago. Seventeen of the nineteen posts fall between September 2020 and June 2021 — its first year. After that there is one from February 2025 (a delivered lunch box) and one from April 2026 (a boxed order). A second sweep of the archive added fourteen posts and did not change this: five of them were about this shop, and all five were from October and November 2020. So the room described here is the 2021 room, and the counter is the 2021 counter: the steamed-bun seolgi, the persimmon mochi and the flower cup cake appear in no later post. The same goes for the hours: 08:00–20:00 is a 2021 figure, and a 2024 post copying the map listing says it closes at 19:00. The writing bunches three times. Between 30 October and 6 November 2020, five posts describe the boxed sets under five different keywords — corporate, hundredth-day, promotion, company anniversary, general — while listing the same selling points in the same order. The tell is the milestone figure, which differs in every one. Five posts between 9 and 16 January 2021 describe the same two cakes, and three between 6 and 11 June 2021 describe the same new cup cake. Not one declares a sponsorship. But eleven posts close with the same set of brand cards — the official blog, the Instagram account, the web shop — and when you pull out what the posts share, the cards are all they share; the prose is each writer's own. That is not proof of payment; we read it as a sign that the brand's material came with the visit. Knowing that, read the clusters accordingly: five people praising the same cake in the week it launched may not be coincidence.
- This is a shop you buy from for children. Four posts involve them, and not as advice: a mother handing out boxes at her second child's first nursery birthday; a writer taking cakes home because her son loves them; another whose sons ate them although they do not usually like rice cake; and a first-time mother who sent out Chorom boxes for her baby's hundredth day, admitting she knew nothing about any of it. One post notes the children's boxes come with animal characters on the case. Five mention that the individual wrapping makes them easy to hand round, which suits a nursery order. But no post describes sitting in the shop with a child. Whether there is a high chair, a changing table, room for a pushchair — none of the nineteen says. That is not a no; it means we do not know. One 2026 post laid a hundredth-day table at a restaurant and ordered only the rice cakes from this brand — without naming the branch.
- Not one of the nineteen mentions a lavatory — inside the shop or out in the building, shared or split. For a place people mostly fill a tray and leave, that is unsurprising — but it has tables and sells coffee, so anyone staying would want to know. A shared building lavatory is plausible for a ground-floor unit, but that is our guess, and guesses do not go on the page. It is not a no; it means we do not know.
- It is at street level and visible from the lane. The registered address is unit 1 of the Seonchul Building at 63 Seongdeokjeong-gil, and none of the nineteen mentions stairs or a basement. Three give directions and all three use the Emart as the landmark: the café in the lane behind it, not far from it, easy to spot. From the stations, one puts it near Seoul Forest and the shop's own opening notice says ten minutes' walk from Seongsu. A pet photography studio occupies the floor above — it has no sign of its own, so its customers are told to look for this shop instead. On this street, we are the landmark.
- Not one of the nineteen mentions a queue — no waiting, no app, no full room. For a shop where you fill a tray and leave, and where half the trade is ordered ahead, that is unsurprising, but all we checked is that nobody wrote about one. What one post does record is running out: in June 2021, a writer notes that the flower cup cake had sold out in a rush the previous month. If you are after something seasonal, that is the risk rather than a queue. Orders close at 8pm the day before, so book if the date matters.
