Tteumdeurida Seongsu
뜸들이다 성수점 Tteumdeurida Seongsu-jeom Tteumdeurida is the Korean for letting rice finish steaming in the pot — the last resting step before it is served.

Tteumdeurida Seongsu is a rice-bowl shop on the ground floor at 50 Sangwon-gil, two or three minutes' walk from Ttukseom station — and despite the name, Ttukseom is closer than Seongsu. The two things it is known for are doran-doran, a bowl of rice under avocado, pollock-roe mayonnaise and a sous-vide egg, and a pork-belly curry; bowls run roughly ₩7,000–9,000. You order at a screen by the door, and water and side dishes are self-serve. The room is very small — three tables for two and five seats at a bar, about ten people in all. The business here is really delivery: the writers who ate in all describe couriers coming and going throughout the meal. Kimchi comes with the rice, and a bonito broth is free in the shop but charged at ₩700 if you have it delivered. There is no parking. Tteumdeurida is a franchise with over 150 branches and several in Seoul alone. We read twelve posts, from November 2020 to October 2024.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.
What sets it apart
- This is a delivery kitchen with a few seats attached. Six of the twelve had the food delivered or collected it, and the ones who ate in all noticed where the work was going: one states plainly that delivery orders outnumber walk-ins; another sat in an empty room and then watched staff work flat out as app orders poured in; a third counted roughly ten couriers passing through during one meal; a fourth had walked past the little shop with its permanent knot of delivery scooters so often that she looked it up and found it ranked second on the app. You can still sit down — nine posts either ate in or note that you can, and a 2020 writer went out of her way to say that while other places had gone delivery-only, this one would still seat you. Price and contents shift with how you take it. The same signature bowl appears at ₩7,900 eating in, ₩8,400 delivered and ₩8,900 collected, and the bonito broth that comes free in the shop costs ₩700 on a delivery order. One writer also records a ₩1,000 packing charge. Eating in is the cheapest way to have it.
- It is a very small room — six writers say so. Two of them counted: three tables for two and a bar seating five; about ten people in total. One dismisses the seating as there for form's sake. So a group is out — one writer says as much directly. The flip side is that it is easy to eat alone here, which four posts point out: with only two-seaters and a bar, there is no large table to feel guilty about occupying. Three of the twelve did in fact come on their own. Small is not the same as shabby — this room is cramped and spotless. Five writers remark on it: an all-white fit-out, a clean interior that one says would not shame a decent café, a kitchen and crockery so tidy she concluded the staff must be very diligent, and a room that is not big but has been prettily done. One also notes hair ties left out for customers eating in.
- You order at a screen just inside the door — five posts describe it, one noting the eat-in / take-away choice it offers. There is almost no need to speak to anyone, which makes this an easy place to eat if your Korean is shaky. But some items are not on the screen, and you will miss them if nobody tells you. One writer hunted the kiosk for dumplings, gave up and asked: the sides — dumplings and hotteok — have to be rung up by a member of staff at the till. Water and side dishes are self-serve, from a cooler in the corner by the window and a tray on the table. One writer was handed bottled water instead. There is a stamp card — a drink at ten visits, a dish at fifteen, usable at this branch and two others, valid six months. That comes from a single post in May 2023, so we cannot say it still runs.

Getting there

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for the address instead.
Naver Map has a full English mode — Settings → Language → English. In Korea it gives better walking and transit directions than Google Maps.

Not one post says whether a wheelchair or a pushchair gets in. The words — wheelchair, pushchair, ramp, threshold, step — do not appear anywhere in the twelve. We counted: zero, every one of them. That is not a no; it is an absence. We will not fill it with guesswork, so here is only what is confirmed. The room is very small, about ten people — three tables for two and five seats at a bar, and one writer dismisses the seating as there for form's sake. Nobody records how high the bar stools are. The toilet is not inside but out through a curtain at the back, so we do not know whether that route is level either. One post's information panel lists separate men's and women's toilets, but that line was copied from the shop's own listing, not observed. If you need to know, a phone call before you go is the fastest route — though even the number splits two ways across the posts.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know
- Our newest post is from October 2024 — nearly two years old. Things will have moved on, and the opening hours had already changed twice within the posts we have: eleven to nine in 2021–22, half past ten to eight through 2022–24, and half past ten to ten to eight in the two most recent. That is why more than one row appears in the table — we did not choose between them. A three-to-four afternoon break is agreed by six posts from 2023 onward, and three say there is no break on Sundays. Check before you go. The menu grew, too. A 2020 writer says there are five dishes; a 2024 writer lists nine rice bowls plus a risotto, three porridges, dumplings and hotteok. Prices rose with it — the signature bowl went from the six-thousands to ₩7,900. Two phone numbers appear: one in four posts including the most recent, the other in two from 2022. The first is a forwarding number and may change.
- Not one post describes the floor or any stairs. What we know — that it is at ground level — comes from the licence record, not from anyone who went: the registered address reads "50 Sangwon-gil, ground floor of the Dongseoul pharmacy building". We counted the words. Across the twelve posts, "stairs" appears zero times, "lift" zero times, "level ground" zero times. "Basement" appears twice, once inside the word "subway" and once about the gym where a writer works. Every occurrence of the word "floor" belongs to somebody else's shop — check-in blocks trailing a single weekly-diary post: a bakery in Jongno, an izakaya in Euljiro on two floors, a raw-fish place, a clinic on the fourth. Not one line puts a floor on our shop. Whether there is an upstairs, whether you step straight in from the street, whether there is a lip at the door — nobody writes it. What is recorded is only this: a small shop down a side street, two to three minutes from exits 3 and 4 at Ttukseom, just around the corner from the Paik's coffee stand; an ordering screen immediately inside the door; and a toilet out through a curtain at the back.
- The toilet is not inside the shop. Two writers describe the same arrangement: it is out through a curtain at the back, and you ask staff, who will point the way. You have to leave the room and ask. Whether there are steps on that route, and whether men's and women's are separate, no one who went there confirms — one post's information panel lists them as separate, but that line was copied, not observed. There is no parking. Two writers say so; one noticed a space at the back by the toilet and concluded it was the owner's, and the other was told to use a public lot nearby.
- Opinions on the food divide, and they divide on seasoning. On one side is the writer who thought the roe sauce so good that everyone who tries the bowl comes back to it. On the other is the one who had three dishes delivered, disliked all three and recorded a zero per cent chance of reordering — the kimchi fried rice under-seasoned and oddly flat, the soy pork shoulder barely seasoned at all, the ₩700 broth watery. Even she made an exception for the pork curry. What is interesting is that the opposite complaint also exists: two writers found the signature bowl salty. In the same shop, "far too bland" and "too salty" attach to different dishes. Stirring the signature bowl evens the salt out; the soy pork shoulder is the plain one. On a first visit the pork curry is the safe order — nine posts mention it and none speak badly of it. Of the three who tried the rosé bowl, two were unconvinced.
