Tokyo Stand Seongsu is a draught-beer bar 81 metres from exit 7 of Ttukseom station, up half a flight to a flight of stairs off a side lane. It is an official Suntory house, and beer is the only thing it pours: three Suntorys distinguished not by the beer but by how it is poured — creamy, soft, milko — plus Guinness and the bar's own Tokyo Wheat. Only the Guinness costs more; everything else is ₩8,900. The glass is rinsed again before pouring and dipped in ice water afterwards to bring it to temperature. Food is light, ₩4,900 to ₩9,900, built around a plate of cold cured ham. A sign outside says beer on its own is fine. It opened on 22 July 2026. It now opens at 17:00 on weekdays and 15:00 at weekends, closing at 01:00. The twenty-eight posts we read run from 25 July to 17 September.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- It is called a stand, and you sit down. Five posts describe a counter along the walls with a round table in the middle; eleven mention the counter. One writer minds: she came expecting a standing bar and found stools, and thought the concept lost in the process. She lists the standing beer bars she knows in Tokyo and in Seoul before concluding that either the imitation failed or somebody decided Koreans need a seat. The room is small — six posts say so, and one of them turns it into a virtue: too small to get rowdy. One post gives a private-hire capacity of twenty-two. Five single out the window seats, one recommending the counter that faces the street, another noting that with the windows open it feels like drinking outside.
- The bar is built to be watched. Eight posts praise the pouring and the explanation that comes with it: temperature, pressure, the angle of the glass, the speed of the pour; filling past the rim and then scraping the excess away; dipping the poured glass in ice water. Five posts credit seventeen years of experience and two say fifteen — both figures come from the bar's own wall, and we cannot tell you which is right. One writer takes the opposite view: the owner reads out a menu that already explains itself, and to a customer who does not need explaining, attentiveness arrives as an intrusion. Twenty-seven liked the same behaviour that one found tiring — and the condition she names, already knowing what you want, is one the others never mention. Read it as: welcome the first time, possibly too much the fifth.

There are stairs. Eleven posts place the bar on a floor and they do not agree: seven say the first floor above the street, two say half a flight up, one says one and a half floors, and the registered address says ground floor. It appears to sit half a level up a side staircase, and people name that differently. Either way, you climb. How many steps, whether there is a handrail, whether a lift exists, whether there is a lip at the door, whether a wheelchair or a pushchair could manage — none of the twenty-eight says. That is not a no; it means we do not know. The lavatory is outside the bar as well, so it is worth asking about both before you go. Even the telephone number differs between posts — three give 010-8009-8919 and two give 0507-1454-1234, and we could not check which one is answered now.
No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know
- This page is two months of talk about a two-month-old bar. It opened on 22 July 2026 and all twenty-eight posts were written after that. Five of them declare that the visit was hosted or sponsored — late July through late August. The other twenty-three say nothing either way, and saying nothing is not the same as taking nothing. On top of that, nine posts record an opening offer of a free ham plate with any drink, and five describe a game of rock-paper-scissors against the staff that takes ₩1,000 off for each round you win (two won a free Guinness that way). One saw a sign promising a refund if the beer was not good. A bar's first two months are always its best behaviour. Whether this one is the same six months from now, these posts cannot tell you. What we can say is that the prices did not move once between late July and mid-September.
- Seven posts say it is a good place to drink alone, and not one of the seven was alone. Every mention is either advice to the reader or a report of other people: the counter is made for it, there were solo drinkers dotted along it, you would be fine here on your own. That the seats exist and that solo drinkers use them is something several people saw, and we believe them. What we do not have is a report from someone sitting there — whether one ₩8,900 glass is enough to hold a seat, whether leaving on the house edamame alone draws a look. The sign outside says beer on its own is fine. That is the bar's promise, not yet anyone's experience.
- Nobody writes about queueing. What three posts do record is how fast it fills: full by the time one writer arrived for a second round in the evening; quiet before five and full about ten minutes after she sat down; already busy for a place that had just opened. No waiting app, no list at the door, and not a word in twenty-eight posts about whether you can book. A small room suggests there may be no seat late in the evening, but what we actually checked is that nobody wrote about a queue, and that three people watched it fill early. The safe answer is to come early: 17:00 on weekdays, 15:00 at weekends.
- The lavatory is outside the bar and shared between men and women. Two posts say so, one of them flatly; the other only that it is outside. Where you go, and whether it is locked, nobody writes — not even whether it means going down the stairs. The other twenty-six do not mention it at all. That is not a no; it means we do not know. For a room that serves beer until one in the morning, this is the one thing worth knowing in advance.
