Sutgol

숯골 Sutgol joins sut (charcoal) and gol (valley, village) — roughly 'charcoal village'; the pork here is grilled over charcoal.

Compiled from 13 blog posts read in fullSources →

Sutgol is a charcoal pork grill at 19 Wangsimni-ro 5-gil in Seongdong-gu, tucked behind a building off the main road near Ttukseom Station and Seoul Forest. Order salt-grilled rib, marinated rib, kkabeuri or neck and a staff member grills it over charcoal from start to finish; at lunch it also sells cold noodles and stews (9,000 won) and raw-beef bibimbap (12,000 won). One post paid 22,000 won for 250 g of marinated rib. We read 30 posts dated June 29 to October 4, 2026, and counted the 13 that actually visited (July 27 to October 3, 2026). The other 17 only linked the name from posts about other places.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. You don't grill your own meat. Of the ten posts that described how ordering works, nine say a staff member did the grilling; the tenth only had a lunch dish. One noted the grill sits off to the side rather than right in front of you, so it isn't hot; a parent with a baby said it let them tend to the child while the meat cooked.
  2. It looks hidden from outside but is large inside. Six of the eight posts that described the room called it spacious, with tables well apart, and five called it clean. One said the seating is divided into partitioned sections that feel a little private.
  3. Three posts mention a waiting area at the entrance, and four say you can book through Naver or CatchTable. Waits vary: one couple who walked in at 7:30 on a Saturday evening waited a long time, while a family on a Friday evening found online booking full but got a table on the spot with no wait.
  4. Four of the five posts that described texture called the pork juicy. One noted the kkabeuri cut came thick rather than thin-sliced as elsewhere. Another describes a dry-aging cabinet facing the entrance with charcoal inside.
2 more
  1. Three posts say you order on a tablet or kiosk at the table. Three mention getting side dishes refilled; one says refills are free through the tablet's staff-call tab, and another says only the seasoned raw crab costs extra.
  2. Four posts describe coming back: repeat visits, a diner who returned for the grill after a lunch of rib soup, and two who call it their go-to pork-rib or family dinner spot. On the other side, the post with a baby found the meat fine but not worth a special return trip.

Parking

Posts saying you can park4 of 13 posts

There is parking. Four of the five posts that mention it describe using it; the fifth only copied a listing. One says the spaces are right in front and staff hand you a parking coin when you pay; another says there is a barrier at the entrance but you just drive through.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

No one described the floor or any stairs. The address says ground floor, and one post says you reach the door by crossing the parking lot and a courtyard.

Nobody mentioned an entrance step or wheelchair or stroller access. One family went with a baby but didn't say how they got in. That's an absence of reports, not evidence either way.

No post says whether the restroom is inside or separated by gender.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • Two of the four posts that discussed price found it expensive (22,000 won for 250 g of marinated rib). Nobody gave prices for the plain rib, kkabeuri or mixed platter, or a total for a grilled-meat meal for two. The beef soybean stew is quoted at 9,000 won and, from a map listing, 8,000 won.
  • Six posts list the same hours, daily 11:30 to 22:00; three add a 15:30–17:00 break and three a 21:00 last order. All were copied from listings, and none mention a closing day. Two posts give the phone number as 02-466-1540.
  • Posts place it near Ttukseom and Seoul Forest stations, but none say how long the walk was. Six posts warn the restaurant isn't visible from the main road and the entrance is hard to find.
  • Two posts, from July 27 and August 19, 2026, follow nearly the same sequence: hard-to-find entrance, bigger than expected, waiting area, mixed platter with foil-wrapped mushrooms, staff grilling, juicy first bite with salt, ice cream to finish. One says it was unsponsored, the other says nothing. We counted both, but read their praise with that in mind. Fourteen posts on one blog link to a Sutgol review that is not among the posts we read.
