Sojeokdu

소적두 Sojeokdu (小赤豆, 'small red bean') is explained by the posts as an old word for red beans — fitting for a shop that cooks Gangwon-grown red beans in an iron cauldron.

Compiled from 11 blog posts read in fullSources →

Sojeokdu's Seongsu shop is a small red-bean café in an alley at Sangwon 6-gil 8, near Ttukseom Station. The centre of the menu is bingsu — shaved milk ice under Korean red beans cooked in an iron cauldron, with injeolmi rice cakes — at 8,000 won for one and 15,000 won for two to three. There is also red-bean porridge (8,000 won), porridge with rice dumplings (9,000 won), red-bean buns and Americano (4,000 won). We read 24 posts from May 2025 to September 2026; 12 describe actually eating here. The rest are multi-shop lists, people eating the brand's mail-order beans and citron juice at home, and posts about other branches or a company event.

Rows without a count: 3 of 4 posts.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. There are three tables. All four posts that described the seating counted three — 'three big wooden tables for four or more'. One also mentioned a spot where you can lean back and rest.
  2. It is a small room. Four posts said so — 'a cosy little space', 'a really tiny café', 'far too few tables' — and two of them added that it is hard to linger or come as a group.
  3. Two posts noted a wall TV with a soundbar. One found a quiet film playing and said it felt like visiting a friend's home; the other compared it to someone's living room.
  4. Three posts called it quiet — 'still and calm', 'the bustle of Seongsu just disappears'.
6 more
  1. Three posts said the beans were not sweet ('dense, deep bean flavour rather than sugary'); two said they were sweet but not overly so. The shop's own 'low-sugar' and 'organic sugar' signage is what it claims, so we did not count it.
  2. Two posts said the power outlets are blocked off, so charging or laptop work is not possible.
  3. One post saw a 'one item per person' rule on the menu, though two people sharing one large bingsu was fine. Another post repeated the rule as something it had been told, which we did not count.
  4. Five posts said who they came with: four with friends, one with a boyfriend.
  5. Two posts were repeat visits — one lives across the street and comes 'every weekend these days', the other first came six years ago and still returns after moving away. One post, by contrast, said the dated atmosphere meant it would not return.
  6. Four posts put it a 2–4 minute walk from Ttukseom Station — three via Exit 3, one via Exit 4. One gave the route past the Ttukseom art museum and Paris Baguette into the Paik's Coffee alley, warning the small sign is easy to miss.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 1 (of 11 posts read)

Only one post mentioned the floor: ground level, at the back of an alley building. No one else said.

We do not know whether there is a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in — not because there isn't, but because no one wrote about it.

Only one post touched on the toilet: the owner advised against using it because of its condition, and the writer only guessed it was outside. We do not know whether it is inside or gender-separated.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 20 posts we gathered, 9 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Accounts of service split one to one: one post was given a hallabong orange by the owner mid-bingsu, another said the staff were not particularly friendly.
  • Price: four posts from May 2025 to July 2026 all gave 8,000 won for a single bingsu. One called that a bargain next to 15,000-won chain bingsu; another winced at the 4,000-won Häagen-Dazs add-on. Only one post listed the black-sesame bingsu at 18,000 won.
  • No post reported waiting. One found itself the only customer on a weekend; another said the place always looks busy, but did not mention a wait.
  • Opening hours: three posts listed weekdays 11:30–21:30 and weekends 13:00–21:00; one August 2026 post listed 11:30–21:30 daily. All were copied from listings. Two posts relayed that the shop closes irregularly in winter and advised phoning ahead (02-468-4686). No one said whether it takes reservations.
  • Three posts under the same name were set aside as not about this shop: one visit to the Pildong branch and two from the brand's own blog (the Pildong opening and a Seongnam city-hall event). Mentions that the Apgujeong branch closed concern a different branch, not this one.
