Sharon Seongsu

샤론 성수 Syaron Seongsu Sharon is the chef's own name — Kim Sharon, a baptismal name, after the rose of Sharon in the Bible. Two writers asked and were told so. Seongsu is the neighbourhood.

Sharon is a Japanese restaurant on the first floor above the street (second floor, Korean counting), in a side street one to three minutes' walk from Ttukseom station exit 7. It specialises in dashi-chazuke — rice with hot dashi poured over it rather than tea. Lunch is a set meal; dinner is a booked course. The only seats are at the chef's counter and along the window, and one chef cooks and serves. Open Monday to Saturday, closed Sundays, and shut between 2:30 and 5:30pm. We read twenty-nine posts, from May to September 2026 — the place opened in autumn 2025 and is not yet a year old.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. It is up a floor, and there is a lift. Nine posts say so, two of them adding that it makes the place manageable for anyone who has trouble walking. Not one post describes stairs as the only way up. One explains that the stairs and lift are together, round the right side of the building. Nobody writes about the threshold at the door or the width of the toilet — the lift is as far as our counting goes.
  2. The only seats are at the chef's counter and along the window. Eighteen posts say so, and one states flatly that there is no private room. Two write that there are no tables at all, only the bar. So this is not the place for a party of five — two posts say bookings run from one to nine people. On the other hand, five writers say it is an easy place to eat alone.
  3. You order from a QR code at your seat. Twelve posts say so. Two note that photographs come with it, which helps with unfamiliar dishes; one warns that the mobile signal is poor and you should use the shop's wi-fi. The dishes themselves are explained aloud — sixteen writers describe the chef telling them what each plate is and how to eat it. No post says what languages the screen offers.
  4. The toilet is inside. Seven posts say so and all of them call it clean; one adds that it is shared between men and women. Worth stating for an upstairs restaurant.

These are raw counts, not percentages. Someone who did not mention something is not someone who disagreed.

The most ordered dish is dinner course (디너 코스) — 24 of 29 posts.

The prices here are what bloggers wrote down in their posts, and they may have changed since. Check Naver Place for the current menu and prices. This list is not a menu board — it counts what bloggers actually ordered and ate. Check on Naver Place

Nobody writes about a step at the door. In twenty-nine posts the words for threshold, ramp, wheelchair and pushchair do not appear once. Nine people say there is a lift, but a lift and a step-free entrance are not the same claim. So we will not tell you it is accessible, and we will not tell you it is not — get this wrong and somebody makes a wasted journey.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • The chef's four-line CV appears, almost word for word, in twenty-two posts — Hattori Nutrition College, a competition win and a magazine interview in Japan, then a two-star London restaurant and one ranked fifteenth in the world — in the same order every time. That is not twenty-two people checking; that is the shop's own copy. What is separate is that twelve writers say they saw the certificates and licences on the wall, two of them adding that they read Japanese and could tell the licence was Japanese. One names the London restaurant as Ikoyi. Several people saw what hangs on the wall. Nobody checked whether it is true.
  • Dinner is by reservation only. Four posts say so outright; twenty-one say they booked. Catch Table and Naver are the two routes named. Eleven describe finding a card at the seat with their name and that evening's courses on it. Three note that because it is booked, there is no queue. Lunch is different — two writers walked in and found it quiet.
  • Twenty-two posts give opening hours and three of them disagree. Nineteen say 11am–9:30pm, break 2:30–5:30, last orders 9. The three outliers: one puts the break at 2:30–3:30 (no other post does), one puts closing at 8:30pm, and the oldest post we read, from May 2026, also says 8:30 with last orders at 8. Those last two may belong together — it looks as though the place closed an hour earlier when it had just opened and later extended, but no post covers the gap, so we do not know.
  • One post says the place opens only for lunch on Thursdays. It is from July 2026 and gives Thursday as 11am–2:30pm. The other twenty-one posts give Monday to Saturday without splitting the days. One writer, once, and nobody since — so we cannot tell you it still holds. If you are thinking of a Thursday evening, ring first.
  • They will give you more rice and more eel if you ask. Eight posts say so — one refilled twice, two ate three bowls. Three tell you not to worry that a set course will leave you hungry; two say the opposite, that they were too full to take the refill. Two describe the chef asking first how hungry they were and serving to that.
  • If you are celebrating, a candle arrives — and the chef asks before you say anything. Six posts describe it. One writer said their birthday was two months off and got the candle anyway (they were told the shop stretches to two or three months either side); two say they were not celebrating anything and got one regardless; one had been talking about quitting their job and the chef congratulated them with it.
  • There is no car park. Nine posts tell you to use the public lots nearby. The station makes up for it — two posts put it at 56 metres from Ttukseom exit 7, four at a minute's walk, six at two or three. Five writers worried the side street would be hard to find and say the pavement sign made it easy.
  • The menu has changed. The oldest post we read, from May 2026, went for a sea bream mazesoba at ₩13,000 — and mazesoba appears in none of the twenty-eight posts after it. A July post says the writer remembered only single chazuke dishes and had come back because there was now a dinner course. The ₩49,000 dinner course looks like a later addition. Prices have not moved across the five months we read.
  • What goes on the chawanmushi changes with the season. Two posts from early July describe an edamame foam; nine from late July to September describe sweetcorn cream. The fruit on the crème brûlée splits between orange and blueberry, and one writer guesses it follows whatever is in season. So the dishes described on this page are the ones from that month.
  • You may bring a bottle. One post says up to one, for a fee; another that it was free during an event in June 2026. There is no draught beer — one writer explains that the chef runs the place alone. Instead the ₩10,000 glass of sake is poured to overflowing into a cup set in a cedar box, and three writers say they got more than three glasses out of it.
