Sandwich Hero

샌드위치히어로 성수점 Saendeuwichi Hieoro Seongsujeom The name is the English 'Sandwich Hero' written in Korean letters; this is the Seongsu branch, and posts say the first shop is near Yeoksam Station.

Data as of · Published ·

Sandwich Hero's Seongsu branch is on the second floor of a brick building on Seoulsup 2-gil, between Seoul Forest and Ttukseom stations. It makes American-style baguette sandwiches and chopped salads: you order at a kiosk by the door, the ham is sliced off the whole leg in the open kitchen as your order comes up, and four kinds of pickles (jalapeño, yellow chili pepper, baby dill, Korean-style) are free at a self-serve bar. Sandwiches ran 10,000 won (ham and cheese) to 11,400 won (galley club), salads 7,900–9,100 won, and a salad-sandwich-drink set 19,900 won. Several posts mention people taking food to go for a picnic in Seoul Forest. We read 28 posts dated 19 June to 1 October 2026; 24 describe an actual visit. Two were about other shops and were set aside, and two were multi-shop lists we did not count.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. Of 22 posts that talked about portions, 21 said they were big. The regular is about 18 cm and the giant 36 cm; several people could not finish and took half home, one saving it for the next morning. One post differed: a team lunch in April 2026 where the boss grumbled that it was too small.
  2. Fourteen posts say they watched the ham and cheese being sliced on the machine once the order went in. It costs a little time: one diner waited about six or seven minutes, while two said the food came quickly. The lines about ham imported whole from the US and everything prepped in-house each day appear almost word for word across the posts; they are the shop's own wording, so we did not count them.
  3. Of 11 posts that described the room, 10 called it spacious, with a mix of two- and four-seat tables that suits solo diners. One post called it compact but well laid out.
  4. Eleven posts say it is an easy walk from the subway: five to seven minutes from exit 5 of Seoul Forest station, seven to ten from exit 8 of Ttukseom.
  5. Of 9 posts that said who they came with, 3 came alone, 5 with friends and 1 with their mother. One solo diner said more than half the customers were eating alone.

Getting inside

Second floor17 of 24 posts
Toilet insideyes 1 · no 1 (of 24 posts read)

Seventeen posts note that the shop is up a flight of stairs on the second floor. The stairs are reached from the alley on the left of the building or from the back, and one diner found the stairwell so dim they weren't sure they had the right place. Six posts mention outdoor tables down on the ground floor.

No post mentions a lift, a step at the door, or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. Several describe climbing stairs to the second floor, but that alone doesn't tell us there is no lift. We don't know.

The two posts that mention the toilet disagree: one says it is inside, the other says you go out through a white door and the toilet is the black door outside. Nobody said whether it is separated by gender.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 26 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • No post describes queuing. One found it quiet on a weekday afternoon; another said there may be two or three groups ahead at noon sharp and that 11:40 was easier. Nobody wrote about weekend lunch, so we don't know what the wait is like then.
  • Seventeen posts list opening hours, all copied from the listing, and they disagree: 12 say 9:00 to 19:50 (8 of them add that dine-in ends at 19:30), 5 say 9:00 to 20:00 (3 with last orders at 19:45). Both versions appear through July and August, so this is not a change we can date. Only one post mentions days off, saying there are none.
  • Prices come from July–August 2026 posts. Of the 3 posts that commented on value, 2 found it cheap for the size and 1 thought it pricey at first but worth it. Peach oolong iced tea appears at both 3,400 and 3,800 won, once each. The chipotle chicken sandwich cost 10,500 won in April 2026, the same as in August.
  • Several posts give the same phone number, 0507-1303-0281. None says whether the shop takes reservations.
  • Eighteen posts went up between 11 and 24 August 2026, and 4 of them say the food was provided. Identical sentences and whole paragraphs recur across them, so read that batch as a promotion. Five posts from around then saw an offer of a free americano or iced tea in return for a photo review.
  • The chopped salad bowl was called a new item in a June 2026 post; the one earlier visit, in April 2026, mentions only sandwiches.
