Perlen is a whisky-Dutch-coffee café up a flight of stairs in a red-brick building at Seoulsup 2-gil 6. Its signature is alcohol-free cold brew made from oak-barrel-aged beans (Whisky Dutch Original, 8,500 won), served over a single large ice sphere, and most people drink it as a dessert pairing set: fifteen of the visits had the Original Set (14,000 won). It opens on Saturdays and Sundays only. It moved here from Yeonnam-dong (Seongmisan-ro 22-gil 18) in May 2026, and we keep posts from the old shop out of the current counts. We read 30 posts from December 2024 to October 2026; 21 of them are visits to this address, from June to September 2026. Five were set aside as posts about the Hyundai Department Store Samseong branch, a pop-up, or other cafés.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.
What sets it apart
- There is both a bar and tables. Fifteen posts describe the two together and none says it is bar-only. The layouts they give: one four-seat bar plus several two-tops; four bar seats and about five two-person tables; three black tables, window seats and the bar. Others mention a long window bench and a sofa seat.
- From the bar you watch the coffee being made right in front of you; seven posts say so. The Whisky Dutch Original is poured over a large ice sphere, and several posts were told to taste it neat first and then as the ice melts. The draft coffee is poured the way a bartender pours beer.
- Eight posts describe it as quiet: guests talk in low voices to match the room, and it is easy to hold a conversation. The low light, black finishes and a full wall of glass blocks come up again and again.
- It is small. Six posts say it is not large or call it cosy; one post alone found it much bigger than expected. One suggests coming as one or two rather than in a group.

The address says ground floor, but the café is up a staircase. Four posts call it the second floor and one says it is half a floor up. One explains that a katsu-sando shop, SANDOS, takes the ground floor and Perlen is up the stairs beside it, past dark green walls to a black door. The sign is small enough that first-timers may walk past.
You reach the door by stairs. One post, visiting with a child, warns that they had to carry the stroller up. Nobody mentions a lift or ramp; that means no one wrote about one, not that there is none.
Four posts say the restroom is inside the café. Several mention Aesop hand wash at the sink, and one notes it is unisex but clean.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 23 posts we gathered, 3 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- The café moved here in May 2026; posts up to August 2025 describe the old Perlen House at Seongmisan-ro 22-gil 18 in Yeonnam-dong. Two posts mention the move. We keep the old-shop visit (March 2025) and a January 2025 licence-closure list naming the Yeonnam address out of the current counts; someone still ate at Yeonnam in August 2025, so we do not read that list as a closure.
- Every post agrees it opens Saturday and Sunday only and closes Monday to Friday, but the hours split in two. The five posts up to 8 July 2026 give 11:00–18:00; of the fourteen from 3 August on, eleven give 12:00–19:00. The other three still say 11:00–18:00, and one of them saw that on a window notice. It looks like the hours changed, but no post quotes the café on it, and most of these are copied info boxes.
- No post reports waiting; one says it spares you the usual weekend queue in Seongsu. Still, one visitor got the bar only because other seats were full, and another arrived at opening to find the bar free, so seats can fill on weekend afternoons.
- Prices, from posts that copied the menu: single drinks 6,000–8,500 won (pour-over 7,500–10,000), pairing sets 13,500–14,000 won. Three posts give the Milk Set at 14,000 won and one at 13,500. No post found it expensive; one said it was not much of a burden. A discount on extra drinks or bottles with a set comes from one post copying the menu.
- Nine posts list the phone as 0507-1352-2876; three give other numbers. That there are no reservations and it is walk-in only comes from copied info or what staff told visitors, so we did not count it.
- Two posts are tagged as sponsored. Eleven share the same hashtag set, and the same promotional sentence about a menu built around coffee and whisky recurs in three. Four mention being given a drink on the house. The posts do not say whether this cluster was a paid campaign, so we counted sponsorship only where it was disclosed.
