Number Five is a basement cocktail bar right outside exit 7 at Ttukseom. It opens at seven in the evening and runs until three in the morning, and eight of the seventeen writers came as a second stop — three of them because everything else nearby had shut. Cocktails are ₩8,000–11,000; six call that cheap for Seongsu and nobody calls it dear. Two dart machines (₩1,000 a game) and the owner's large dog are the fixtures. The dark beer comes plain, with cinnamon or with cream, and a bowl of wasabi pretzels arrives when you sit. Two writers took the neon outside for a nightclub and were relieved: it is quiet inside (five). Seventeen posts, April 2021 to August 2026.

What sets it apart
- It looks loud from the street and is quiet inside — three writers describe that gap. One avoided the place for months, sure that the neon meant a nightclub, and came away saying he had nearly got it wrong; another stood at the top of the stairs praying for quiet. Five call it quiet, and the reason they give is the same: you can talk. It is not always so — a 2023 writer passes on the owner's own remark that it gets boisterous sometimes, and she was there on a Monday. One 2022 post found a DJ set playing off a monitor; a 2021 one mentions matches shown on a screen.
- There is a large dog, the owner's. Four writers mention it, three saw it, and one gives its name. The best account is by someone frightened of dogs: it was so placid, she writes, that it ignored the customers petting it entirely and responded only to its owner and to food — which suited her. Another, who had never been near a dog that size, kept stroking it. You may bring your own — three posts say so, but nobody did, so we take that line from the listing rather than from experience.
- Six posts describe the service. A cocktail made stronger on request in 2021; the owner mixing them himself, in two accounts; one writer's sense that each drink was made with care; and a flat "the owner is genuinely kind" in 2026. One felt the room was half full of the owner's friends; another watched a crowd of regulars arrive late and take the whole bar. Nobody reports being treated badly. One 2026 writer ended up here at all because a regular, out for a cigarette, recommended it to her in the street.

It is a basement and you go down stairs — five writers describe the descent. How many steps, whether there is a lift, whether there is a threshold: none of the seventeen says. Nor does anyone address wheelchairs or pushchairs. This is silence, not an assurance. All we have besides is that four writers found the room unexpectedly large. Ring if it matters.

What we do not know
- Something to know first: four of the twenty-one posts we gathered were about Chanel No. 5. A pop-up store write-up, a winter perfume recommendation, a woman who named her own blend "Seongsu No. 5", and a diary line about a flower the perfume uses. None has anything to do with this bar, and all four are out. The bar shares its name with the most famous perfume in the world — which also means that searching the name will not find you reviews of the bar. Search the address instead.
- Two dart machines, the second most written-about thing here (eight posts). Two means no waiting, one writer notes; ₩1,000 a game, says another. Two call the machines new. Three describe watching people who were plainly serious about it. Of the three who played, one hit two bullseyes, photographed the board, and still lost.
- Six call it cheap and nobody calls it dear — and all six measure it against the neighbourhood: bars by this station run high, and this one does not. Recorded prices: ₩8,000–11,000 a cocktail, mostly ₩8,000 in 2021–22 and spread to ₩11,000 by 2025. One 2021 table of four spent ₩100,000 on drink alone, four cocktails and four beers each. The prices are scattered over five years, so take them as history.
- Not one of the seventeen records waiting. Five say there was no wait, at times all over the clock: seven on a weekday in 2021 (they had the place to themselves), half seven on a Monday in 2023, seven on a Sunday in 2025, late at night in 2025, and an unremarkable evening in 2024. One found the tables full and took the bar — full is not waiting. A 2024 writer noticed people arriving steadily precisely because everything else had closed. Which suggests it fills up as the night goes on — though that inference is ours.
- Whether it opens on Sunday is the most delicate thing on this page. Six posts say it closes on Sundays — all of them from August 2024 or earlier, and all six are header lines. But a writer in March 2025 went in on a Sunday evening and drank there, having found almost nothing else in the area open, and her post gives the hours as seven to two on Saturdays and Sundays. An April 2026 post also lists a Sunday. One person who was there on a Sunday outweighs six copies of a line, so we have put no closing day in the table at all. Ring before you go on a Sunday. The closing time is given as both one and three in the morning across the years, and we could not settle it.
- The lavatory is inside and shared between men and women — a 2022 post says so plainly, and a 2026 one counts it as a reason the bar works for a second round. One writer, in 2023, adds that it is clean. How many cubicles, or whether there is an accessible one, nobody says.
- Not one of the seventeen went alone. Four say who they were with: university friends, friends, a cousin, a friend — and the last two mean one other person, not a group. Two posts suggest you could come alone (one prompted by the skeleton propped at the bar with a cocktail in its hand), but both are suggestions, not visits. There is a bar counter, and one writer watched the regulars take it — so there would be somewhere to sit, though nobody says so from experience.
