Nemone is a dessert café four or five minutes' walk from Ttukseom station where everything is square — plates, cakes, scones, merchandise — and even the lettering swaps every round Korean vowel for an angular one, so the signs read like a private joke. The ground floor is a waiting area and photo spot; the seats are in the basement. What it sells: square slices and whole cakes made with dairy cream and fresh fruit, seasonal fruit bingsu, coffee. On 1 July 2026 it moved from the basement on Sangwon 2-gil to a ground-level building on Wangsimni-ro 6-gil. The posts we read run from December 2023 to September 2026, twenty-nine of them.

What sets it apart
- Twenty-one of the twenty-nine posts are about queuing — the most repeated fact here. What is unusual is that you queue inside: the whole ground floor is a waiting room, you put your name on a tablet, and you go down to the basement when called. One writer warns that the crowd on the ground floor hides the tablet, so register the moment you are through the door; another notes with approval that water is put out for people waiting. Four posts time the wait: thirteen parties ahead and thirty minutes at four on a Sunday (March 2024); two parties ahead on a weekday lunchtime (June 2025); twenty minutes with only one party ahead (July 2026); thirty minutes after seven in the evening (July 2026, after the move). You can join the queue remotely — four posts mention booking a slot through CatchTable or Tabling. Two writers walked straight in, and both explain why: it was raining, and it was half past twelve on a weekday.
- The seating is downstairs. Twenty posts say so. From the street it can look empty — one writer only realised the café itself was in the basement — and another describes the way down as a rabbit hole. Four warn about the stairs: they are steep; go carefully; mind your head; take it slowly. No post mentions a lift, and none says whether a wheelchair or a pushchair could get down — which means we do not know, not that it cannot be done. Three call the room small: very cramped, with few tables, which one writer decides is the reason for the queue; about ten seats; and, after the move, a basement small enough that seats are scarce. The lavatory is not inside — one writer notes you have to leave the premises for it. That was at the old address; nobody has written about the new one.
- Whole cakes are made to order. Ten posts mention it. The recurring line is that you reserve at least a day ahead, or buy what is there on the day — but one writer gambled on the day and lost: two whole cakes left at one o'clock on a Friday, and only strawberry, when she had come for mango. Two note that Naver bookings are taken too. One post copies the terms out in full, usefully: bring a cool bag if you are travelling more than thirty minutes (they sell them), the ice pack lasts two hours as standard and more costs nothing, and over an hour a cool bag is required. Lettering on the base is ₩2,000, and following the shop on Naver takes ₩1,000 off. Slices cannot always be taken away — a May 2025 post reports that boxing individual slices had been suspended, the writer guessing it was the heat.

There is no parking. Nine posts say so, most in a single line pointing at public car parks nearby. Not one writer says they parked. There is, though, one instruction aimed at people collecting a cake: a post copying out the booking terms says you may stop briefly outside to pick up, but if you are staying to eat you must use a public car park. Which you are doing makes the difference. One post says otherwise — a May 2024 piece calls parking nearby plentiful and convenient; it discloses no arrangement and contradicts the other eight. No post gives a rate.

Everything written about stairs belongs to the old address. Six posts describe them — "the ground floor is just the waiting area, the cafe itself is down this steep flight", "careful, the stairs are steep" — and all six are from the basement space on Sangwon 2-gil. On 1 July 2026 the shop moved "out of the basement and up to street level", so those stairs are not the ones at today's address. Nobody has properly described the new doorway. Three posts carry the new address; one of them still says you "go straight down to the basement" once inside, and the other two say nothing about the entrance. We do not know whether there is still a level to descend. Across twenty-nine posts the words wheelchair, threshold, ramp, lift and stroller never appear.

What we do not know
- The café moved on 1 July 2026, and twenty-five of the twenty-nine posts we read are from before that. The old address was Sangwon 2-gil 6, ground floor and basement; it is now Wangsimni-ro 6-gil 21. One writer reports the news: Nemone had finally left the basement and reopened above ground. It is the same business — the phone number 0507-1397-1820 appears in posts from both addresses, and there is one Instagram account throughout. Anything tied to the location may describe the old place: the directions everyone gives, out of exit 5 past the Starbucks, are for the old address; it is exit 6 now. The layout carried over, though — a post written after the move still describes a photo machine at the entrance and the café itself down a flight of stairs, in a basement small enough that seats are scarce.
- Eight posts call it expensive, mostly about the bingsu and the cakes. The figures on record: the signature square latte at ₩8,000 (March 2024); a slice of cake at ₩15,000; whole cakes at ₩15,800 (December 2024) and ₩43,000 (March 2026, plus ₩2,000 for lettering); peach bingsu at ₩29,800 (August 2024), a Greek-yoghurt peach bingsu at 'nearly forty thousand' (August 2025) and 'thirty-something thousand' (July 2026); a mango parfait at ₩18,800. And the words: the ₩8,000 latte is a stretch even for this neighbourhood; ₩15,000 a slice was enough for one writer to skip cake altogether; at thirty thousand for bingsu, one says, she would come once and not again; and another, who went expecting twenty-something because Naver does not list the price, writes that had she known, she would not have gone. Check the price before you go — that last complaint is why.
- Three posts disclose payment, all from the same week in May 2024, and they read alike. Two say plainly that a fee was received. All three carry near-identical sentences: scones, cakes and plates all square; the ground floor a photo spot with seating below; a queue from the day it opened. They look like the same press release written up three times. Five posts cluster in that one week — two on the 8th, then the 9th, 15th, 19th, 21st and 23rd — and the others disclose nothing, which is not the same as having taken nothing. Seven say they paid their own way; the rest say nothing either way.
- Four posts remark on how many foreign customers there are — English instructions for 'how to enjoy Nemone', a lot of Japanese visitors, and one writer who simply cannot work out why. The wifi password is posted in several languages. This is a café whose entire joke lives inside the Korean alphabet, and still. None of the writers explains it, and neither can we.
- "Good for a date" and "I came here on a date" are not the same sentence. Six posts mention dates, and most of them are recommending rather than reporting — "it would work as a date stop", "go on a date and you'll chat and take photos happily", "next time I want to come back for a date over a square latte". Count only the writers who say who they actually came with and you get four with friends, one with a younger sibling, one with family. Not one of the twenty-nine says they came alone — the word does not appear once — and none says plainly that they came with a partner.
