Nammae Kalguksu is a small old-style noodle shop in a lane beside an apartment block, three to five minutes' walk from exits 5 and 6 at Ttukseom. By day it sells hand-cut noodles and barley rice; by night, pancakes and bulgogi with drink. One person takes the orders and cooks. It has a habit worth knowing: order the noodles and a small bowl of barley rice arrives with them; order the barley rice and a pot of doenjang stew arrives with that, one each. The seasonal dish turns over — oyster and seaweed rice soups in winter, black-soybean cold noodles in summer. Closed Sundays, open until half past nine. The posts we read run from November 2020 to June 2026, eight of them.

What sets it apart
- It is small, and one person runs it. Three writers count the seats and none agree: three two-tops and four four-tops (2024); about five four-tops and four two-tops (2025); all tables, twos or fours, pushed together and pulled apart as needed (2023) — which probably explains the disagreement. Either way it is around twenty seats. The owner works alone: three posts say so, and the 2025 one marks the change — there used to be two of them, and now he takes the orders and cooks. So food can be slow: working alone means a wait, says 2023; he is busy on his own so it may come a little late, and it is good enough that we can all live with that, says 2024. When the room is empty, though, one writer's order came in a few minutes.
- The price here is always read against Seongsu's. On the 2023 board every main was ₩7,000 — clam noodles, kimchi noodles, barley rice, dumpling soups, rice-cake soup, and the seasonal oyster and seaweed soups too. That writer notes that lunch at seven thousand is not common in Seongsu any more. The barley rice has since gone to ₩9,000 (2024 and 2025). A 2026 writer says the same thing differently: eating in Seongsu has become a burden, and this place has not. Four writers make the value point and none calls it expensive — and they all measure it the same way: for this neighbourhood, at this price.

Getting inside
No one wrote down whether you can get in without steps. Across eight posts the words wheelchair, threshold, ramp, lift and stroller never appear, and nobody describes the doorway at all. That is not the same as saying you cannot get in: nobody looked.

What we do not know
- Eight posts, six people. Three of them — November and December 2020 and June 2021 — are by the same blogger, each linking back to the last; she ate the oyster soup, then the clam noodles, then the cold soy noodles. So where this page says how many posts, the number of people is smaller. With eight sources, take any statement as one or two voices. What the spread does tell you is something about the shop: the 2020 post opens by noting that the place used to be called something else and the name has changed, and a 2025 writer, remembering it from long before Seongsu became Seongsu, observes that plenty of others have gone and this one is still held up by the people who live here. No post discloses a sponsorship; one says she paid her own way.
- Outside the lunch rush you sit straight down. The posts look like they disagree and do not. In 2023: get the timing wrong and there may be no table. In 2025: no queue and no break, so you can come any time — though with all the new offices, lunchtime may now mean waiting. In 2026, a writer deliberately came after the rush and had the room to herself. One post pins the peak: at half twelve on a weekday it was quiet enough that she thought she had picked a dud, and exactly thirty minutes later everyone arrived at once — the offices nearby, she concludes, break at one. Not one writer actually describes queuing. One notes that the customers skew older.
- None of the eight mentions a lavatory — inside or in the building, split by gender or not, we cannot say. The way in is the same: the posts place it on the ground floor down a lane, but whether there is a step, how wide the door is, whether a wheelchair or pushchair gets in — none of the eight says. That is not a no; it means we do not know. Parking is not mentioned once either. An old shop down a lane suggests the answer, but that is our guess and nobody wrote it. If it matters, the number is 02-464-3830. We also do not know what it is like at night: it stays open until half nine serving drink and dishes to go with it, and all eight posts we read are lunches.
- Nobody wrote down the floor or any stairs. Across eight posts the words floor, stairs and basement never appear once. The register lists it as ground floor, but that is a record, not something a visitor looked at and wrote. It is a small shop in a back lane, so there was little reason for anyone to note it.
- No writer states plainly who they came with. The word "alone" appears in four posts, but all four are about the owner — "she seems to be taking orders and cooking alone", "she runs it single-handed". It does not mean the customer came alone. Even the one post we counted as a solo visit does not say so. Post 4009 never mentions a companion and orders a single dish, so we read it as a lunch eaten alone — but the writer never wrote the word. Lines like "there may be a queue at office lunchtime" and "the offices around here must break at half twelve" are guesses about other diners, not about who was at that table.
