Naejan Seoul Honsul Bar is a basement bar a minute or two from exit 7 at Ttukseom, the Seongsu branch of a bar that started in Mangwon; one writer dates the opening to January 2026. It opens at seven in the evening and closes at three in the morning, four on Friday and Saturday. Its name means drinking alone, and it is set up for that — but not in the usual way: there is no bar counter. You sit on a sofa, order from your seat by QR code, and the owner asks what you like and makes something to suit. On weekdays there are matchmaking cards, and the soft-serve is on the house. Dogs are welcome, and there is one in residence. We read five posts, from March to July 2026.

What sets it apart
- All five posts are about the owner, and they say what he does. Mixing drinks is the smaller half of it: he brings new arrivals into the conversation already in progress. One writer describes being talked to, then folded into the table next to her, and says it plainly was not his first time doing it. Four mention being asked their taste and served accordingly; two that things kept arriving on the house; one that she came too late for the matchmaking card and was given one anyway. Nobody reports being treated badly — though five is all we have.
- Four of the five went alone; one came with someone. All four say the same thing: they worried on the way in and stopped worrying once inside. But this is not a bar for drinking quietly by yourself — being talked to is the point. One describes a table of strangers talking loudly together; the one who came with a friend admits her first thought was that it looked far too busy. If you want to be left alone, this may be the wrong door. One writer meant to stay for a drink and stayed three hours.
- You can bring a dog, and there is one about the place. Two writers saw it for themselves. One had another customer's dog come to her table and names it, noting that the room is talkative rather than loud and the dog never barked. The other watched a dog moving among the tables and guessed, without being able to confirm it, that it belonged to the owner.

What we do not know
- Something to know first: twenty-five of the thirty posts we gathered do not read as having been written by anyone who went, and we removed them. Twenty-four of those went up in the ten days between the twelfth and the twenty-first of May 2026, and they tell the same story — all twenty-four mention the free ice cream, twenty-three the sofa seating, twenty that there is no bar counter and the room is roomy, twenty that they swapped Instagram handles with the next table, and eleven that they nearly missed the last train. Swapping handles is something that happened to a person, not a property of the bar. What is missing settles it: in all twenty-four there is not one cocktail name, not one price, no mention of the QR ordering, and nothing about the matchmaking cards the bar is known for. All five of the posts by people who did go carry those things. The twenty-fifth is not a review at all but a summary of the shop's listing page — it says as much in its own last line. Not one of the thirty declares a sponsorship. So this page counts five posts, and five posts means five people.
- On weekdays there are matchmaking cards. Three posts describe them: fill one in between seven and nine in the evening and the owner pairs people up. One writer arrived after the cut-off and was let in on it anyway; another found that filling it in gave the table something to talk about. Nobody transcribes what the card asks — one says only that you should come and see. All three who describe the other customers remark on how good-looking they are. It is worth knowing what is being sold here: the room, more than the drink.
- Only one post really gives a price: cocktails in the low-to-mid ten-thousands, in March 2026. One more, in April, says only that it seemed cheap. Nobody calls it expensive. A post we excluded says drinks start at eight thousand, but it was copying the listing, so we have not used it. That is the whole of what we know about money here. One writer notes that you may bring your own food in, and one that writing a review gets you a draw for a bottle or a shot glass.
- It is one floor below the street. Four posts describe going down, one pointing at the stairs as she goes. How many steps, none of the five says. Nor does anyone describe the frontage, beyond one writer who noticed a sign by the door promising good looks inside.
- Nobody mentions the lavatory either — whether it is inside the bar or shared with the building, whether men's and women's are separate. For a basement open until three or four in the morning that is worth knowing, and we do not know it.
- Not one of the five records queueing. Two found the room full — one surprised to see it so on a weekday — but both walked in and sat down. Full is not the same as waiting. One house rule is worth passing on, though: a writer transcribes a notice saying that on Friday and Saturday, if people are waiting, your table may be time-limited. She did not experience it herself.
