Korean

meule

뮐 Mwil Meule is French for haystack, after Claude Monet's Haystacks series; the tenderloin course comes topped with fried burdock or enoki shaped like a little haystack.

Data as of · Published ·

Meule is a Korean-beef tasting counter on the third floor of a red-brick building with no lift, in an alley off Seoulsup 2-gil. It opens for dinner only. About ten guests per seating sit along a long bar table for six plates: carpaccio, a skewer, sirloin steak, tenderloin steak, white jjamppong and dessert. There is one course: 66,000 won per person until the end of 2025 and 72,000 won from 1 January 2026. Booking is through CatchTable, and 17 posts say they booked. We read 29 posts from November 2024 to August 2026; 2 were about other restaurants, and 27 are first-hand visits.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

These hours are counted from the posts we read. Shops change them without notice — check Naver Place before you go. Place — check hours

What sets it apart

  1. Posts lean towards good value. Of the 23 posts that discuss the price, 20 say it is not expensive for what you get, and one says it may feel steep at first but is worth it after six courses. None call it expensive. One warns that anyone expecting top-grade (1++) beef may be disappointed by the meat itself.
  2. The white jjamppong that ends the course is spicy: 12 posts say so, and several expected a white broth to be mild. A November 2024 post says a companion found it very hot and suggests picking out the chillies.
  3. Fifteen posts praise the staff. Several say a candle arrives on the dessert if you mention a birthday or anniversary. One diner flagged a shrimp allergy by DM and the kitchen made a separate jjamppong. Another spilled wine into the steak sauce and got fresh sauce and a new glass. Several mention a digestive tonic relabelled with the house name at the end.
  4. It is quiet: nine posts say so, one adding that it feels like a place where you shouldn't talk loudly. Several contrast it with smoky barbecue houses, because the beef is cooked in a back kitchen rather than at the table.
  5. Food comes from a kitchen at the back; only drinks and tea are made at the bar in front. Three posts say it is not an open kitchen, and one diner was disappointed not to see grilling. A single February 2025 visit described it as open.
  6. Six posts mention a separate wardrobe or rail for coats and bags.
  7. Nine posts worried the course would be small and left full, mostly because of the large closing jjamppong; one compares it to a double portion, and some couldn't finish it. One post thinks big eaters might still want more.
  8. Thirteen posts went with a partner or spouse, mostly for an anniversary or birthday. Five went with friends and one with a sibling. Three drove.
  9. Three posts note that ordering a drink is optional. There is wine by the glass, highballs, whisky, soju and bottled beer only.

Parking

1 posts say you can park; 6 say you cannot. We leave the disagreement standing rather than picking a side.

Posts saying you cannot6 of 27 posts

Six posts say there is no parking. The three that drove used nearby public lots such as Ttukseom Yusuji or Seongsu 1-ga 1-dong. One post alone says the building's basement can be used but is tight, which contradicts the rest.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 9 (of 27 posts read)
Lift to the flooryes 0 · no 5 (of 27 posts read)
Toilet inside2 of 27 posts

There is no lift. Five posts say you climb stairs to the third floor, and nine describe the third-floor location first-hand. Some got lost because the ground-floor shops' signs stand out more.

No post mentions wheelchair or pram access or a step at the door; that means nobody wrote about it, not that there is none. Five posts do say it is up stairs on the third floor with no lift.

Two posts say the toilet is inside the restaurant, so you don't have to go out, and one calls it spacious and clean. Nobody says whether it is separated by sex.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • Seating descriptions differ. Four posts say every seat is at the bar, six describe some face-to-face seats at the end of the table (one mentions a four-person facing spot), and three are unclear. Several say guests pick seats in order of arrival.
  • Three posts describe walking from the station: eight minutes from Ttukseom exit 8, or about ten from either station. Many more copy the line '10 minutes from Seoul Forest or Ttukseom station', which we did not count. One post says five minutes from Seongsu station exit 4, which does not match the others.
  • No post describes queuing at the door. Because it is booking-only, posts talk about getting a reservation instead; one set a cancellation alert and tried repeatedly for a year-end weekend. One post notes there is hardly any wait.
  • Opening hours depend on when the post was written. Up to July 2025, posts list a single 19:00 seating on weekdays and two on weekends. From October 2025, posts list two seatings, at 17:00 and 19:30, Tuesday to Sunday. Of the recent posts, 11 give the hours as 17:00-21:30 and one as 17:00-21:00, and 12 say it is closed on Mondays. Several of these copy a standard info block.
  • The price went up: 66,000 won per person in 2025, 72,000 won from 1 January 2026. Glass-of-wine prices split three posts at 7,000 won and three at 9,000 won, and the split doesn't follow the dates. Corkage is listed at 30,000 won for wine and 50,000 won for whisky, one bottle maximum.
  • Seven posts list the phone number 0507-1308-3498. Bookings are made through CatchTable, and no post tried booking by phone. Spring 2025 posts mention a 33,000 won deposit refunded after the meal, while posts from autumn 2025 show no deposit.
  • The course has changed twice. The four posts on the first menu had sirloin with laver pesto, skirt-steak skewers with charred leek, tenderloin with caviar and brisket jjamppong. From April 2025, posts describe flank on a magnolia leaf, sirloin with green sauce and tenderloin with fried burdock. From February 2026, they describe straw-smoked sirloin skewers, nuruk-salt-aged sirloin and tenderloin with fried enoki. Dessert varies from post to post.
  • The course runs about an hour and a half. Two posts say the gaps between plates are long or that the food comes slowly. One says the plates aren't warmed, so the food arrives slightly cool.
  • Many posts copy a 'no kids' note from the listing; only one mentions it in its own words. No post went with children.
  • Two posts, from December 2025 and June 2026, share near-identical sentences, including a hanok-like gallery, a single long bar table and eight seats in total. We did not count their seating descriptions. No post discloses sponsorship, and 10 say they paid their own way.
