곳간바이멜드 Gotgan is an old word for a storehouse or larder; 'by Meld' ties it to Meld, the owner's earlier restaurant, and writers nickname the place 'samchon-kase' — an uncle's omakase.

Gotgan by Meld is a basement drinking spot down an alley off Sangwon 8-gil in Seongsu, near exits 3 and 4 of Ttukseom station. For ₩50,000 a head there is nothing to order: the owner sends out eight to twelve dishes of his choosing, which writers call an 'uncle's omakase'. Japchae, herring roe with tofu and cucumber, seasonal raw fish, grilled baby cabbage, boiled pork jowl and a hot pot turn up almost every time, and guests fetch their own drinks from the fridge. The soju deal has changed: three free hours in the November 2024 post, two free hours (then ₩5,000 a bottle) from December 2024 through December 2025, and ₩2,000 a bottle in posts from March 2026. We read 30 posts from November 2024 to October 2026; 25 of them record an actual meal.

What sets it apart
- You book. Twelve posts say they reserved, mostly through CatchTable. One pair who phoned instead needed many tries and were told the owner works alone, so calls during service are hard to answer. One post mentions a ₩20,000-per-person deposit that was cancelled after the meal.
- Portions are large. Ten posts say so or that they left stuffed; one skipped the noodles in the hot pot, another stopped eating at the pork. No post found it too little.
- The broth course is usually hot: nine posts called it spicy. What the broth was, though, changed from visit to visit — brisket, beef shank or mushroom hot pot, seafood jjamppong, gochujang stew.
- People go with friends: fourteen posts did, six of them as larger groups of five, six or eight. Two went as a couple.

It is below street level. Nine posts describe going down, three of them by a staircase; one joked that at least after unlimited soju you crawl up rather than tumble down.
Nobody says whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in or whether there is a step. Three posts mention going down stairs to the basement; none mention a lift.
Only one post describes the toilet: inside the premises and shared by men and women. Other mentions come from copied info blocks.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 29 posts we gathered, 4 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Accounts of size split two to two: two posts found it fairly roomy, two found it smaller than expected — four 4-seat and two 6-seat tables, or five or six tables. Claims of 30- or 40-person capacity were hearsay and are not counted.
- A meal is the ₩50,000 course plus drinks, and drinks have changed: soju was free for two hours through December 2025, and posts from March 2026 say ₩2,000 a bottle. One table of three paid ₩155,000. Nobody called it expensive; eight posts thought it good value and one said it was hard to call cheap.
- No post mentions waiting in line. That may be because everyone books; nobody says what happens if you turn up without a reservation.
- Sixteen posts give the same hours, Monday to Saturday 17:30–22:30, closed Sundays, though most copy an info block; only one gives a 21:30 last order.
- Five posts list the number 010-8585-0754. One says groups of three or more book on CatchTable and pairs by phone or text, but the owner works alone and rarely picks up during service.
- You can bring a bottle, but corkage is charged: ₩20,000 for wine or sake, ₩40,000 for whisky, according to three posts.
- One February 2026 post just stitches together sentences from two earlier posts and records no meal, so we did not count it; nor did we count a reposted magazine piece and two list posts.
