MATTDÓL
맷돌 Maetdol Maetdol is the Korean word for a stone hand-mill; none of the posts says why a taco house took the name.

Maetdol is a Mexican taco tasting-course restaurant on Seongdeokjeong-gil in Seongsu-dong, in an older residential lane well away from Seongsu station. It opens for dinner only and serves one course at 39,000 won a head: a corn amuse-bouche, six tacos and tostadas, and a buñuelo to finish. Many posts added guacamole or salsa macha (9,000 won each) before the course. We read 24 posts dated 5 June to 1 October 2026; 12 are visits here. The other 12 were about different places — a soy-noodle shop of the same name in Gwangju, a gamjatang house, and the owners' second shop, Saint — and we did not count them.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart
- You go with a booking. Ten of the twelve posts say they reserved through Catchtable. How far ahead varies: three to four weeks, about two months, and in one post three months. One post says weekends were full but weekday-evening cancellations came up often; another grabbed a cancellation the moment it appeared.
- It is a long way from the station. Of five posts that describe getting there, two took a village bus from Seongsu station (one names bus 13), one says the 15–20 minute walk makes it hard to find, and one suggests a bus or taxi in high summer.
- It is a small room. Six posts describe the seating. Two counted six two-person tables and one four-person table, and one of those also mentions a private room for eight; two others say about five tables. Three posts say the kitchen is open, one calls it half-open, and two say the place is not large.
- Five posts speak well of the staff: they brought out the mezcal bottles to explain them, poured a pricier sparkling wine at the same price when the listed one was sold out, and gave a birthday mezcal on the house. One post says service slowed while only one staff member was on the floor.
1 more
- Two posts say ordering a drink is not required. One post brought its own wine and paid 10,000 won corkage.

Getting inside
None of the visit posts says what floor it is on or mentions stairs; only the address says ground floor.
Nobody mentions a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or pushchair. That means no one wrote about it, not that there is no barrier.
Nobody says where the toilet is or whether it is separated by sex.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know
- The course changes with the season. In posts from May and June 2026 it included the cuttlefish tostada and a fish taco (John Dory); from late June a lamb taco replaced the fish. A post from a 19 August visit calls the monkfish-liver and prawn tostada a new dish that day, and the September posts no longer had cuttlefish — one regretted missing it. A July post says the wine pairing was dropped as unprofitable; two September posts ordered the mezcal pairing at 34,000 won.
- Price: seven posts give the course as 39,000 won a head; one post from 8 September 2026 says 30,000 won. Extras are 9,000 won and the mezcal pairing 34,000 won. No post calls it expensive; two call the price reasonable.
- Portions divide opinion: three posts were full on the course alone; one says a grown man would certainly find it too little.
- Two posts found the seasoning strong or salty; one found it well judged.
- Two posts disagree on noise. A June post found it quiet; a September post sat next to a speaker and found the music loud enough to make talking hard, while adding that other seats would be fine.
- No post describes queuing outside; everyone came with a booking, and nobody says whether walk-ins are possible.
- Six posts say who they went with: four with friends, two with a partner or spouse. None went with children.
- The no-children rule appears only in one post copying the restaurant's own notice; nobody reports it first-hand.
- Four posts give the same hours — Tuesday to Saturday, 18:00 to 21:00, last order 20:00, closed Sunday and Monday — but all four copy the restaurant's own listing.
- Two posts list the phone number 0507-1349-2948. Nobody says whether it takes phone bookings; every post that booked used Catchtable.
