루쎄로 Russero A Spanish restaurant on the third floor beside Seoul Forest, where a chef from Malaga cooks paella and honey cod

Updated · Published

Lucero is a Spanish restaurant on the third floor of a red-brick building beside Seoul Forest. The chef came from Málaga and cooks the food himself — twelve posts say so, and seven watched him work through the kitchen window. Azulejo tiles and cut flowers, hall tables and a bar, one small private room, and a terrace. The two dishes ordered most are the seafood paella and the honey cod. People book, through Naver or the Catch Table app. It opens at 11:30 and closes on Mondays. What we read spans a full two years, from the soft opening in October 2024 to September 2026.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. Six writers say it is hard to find. From the street there is only a small board reading "Lucero 3F", and the building entrance is a long way in behind it — one walked past it twice, another warns you will miss it if you are not looking. Inside there is a lift, and the third floor opens straight onto the restaurant — thirteen writers took it. Two landmarks help: the red brick, and the sushi restaurant on the ground floor, which three posts name as the thing to look for.
  2. Ten posts mention the terrace, and it is small — one says two tables, another three. They keep it usable in cold weather: two April visitors found blankets waiting, and one was offered a small heater on request. Being three floors up, one writer likes the view; another calls the sunlit terrace the best thing about the room. Two reserved a terrace table specifically through the booking app.
  3. The kitchen is behind glass, and seven writers say so — it made them trust the place, it looked clean, it was interesting to watch. Two identify the man at the stove as the chef from Málaga and one names him. Another watched the paella being worked over the heat by what she describes as Spanish cooks.
  4. Write a review from your receipt or the booking app and a plate arrives — six writers took it. The choice is two pieces of *pan con tomate* or two glasses of peach cava; one got Iberico sausage and crackers instead. One remembers the offer being per person rather than per table. One writer draws the obvious conclusion out loud: the high rating on the listing site is probably the review promotion at work. Worth knowing when you read those ratings. We treated this differently from sponsorship, since what changes hands is one dish, not the post.
  5. The paella is started when you order it, so it takes a while — two writers say twenty to thirty minutes, one says fifteen to twenty. An office worker with an hour for lunch ordered it while sitting down; another advises asking for it to be timed with the rest of the table. One found it faster than expected. One writer also waited a long time for the honey cod, and guessed it is cooked slowly at low heat.
  6. One party brought a dog — seven people and one dog, seated in the private room. Two other posts say pets are welcome, but one says it only in the title (the body never mentions a dog) and the other in a copied information block, and neither brought an animal, so we counted neither. Whether a dog can sit in the main room, we do not know. Ask when you book.

Getting there

Map showing where Lucero is

Naver Map has a full English mode — Settings → Language → English. In Korea it gives better walking and transit directions than Google Maps.

Getting inside

Lift to the floor13 of 27 posts

No post says whether there is a step at the door or inside, or whether a wheelchair or a pushchair can get through. Across all thirty posts the words for wheelchair, pushchair, ramp, level change and threshold appear not once — we checked by machine. Thirteen writers saw the lift, but a lift is not the same as a level path: nobody describes the long approach to the building entrance, or the doorway on the third floor.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 30 posts we gathered, 3 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2026-09-142 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • We collected thirty posts and counted twenty-seven. The three we dropped all came out of a September 2026 television broadcast about tomatoes: one lists nine restaurants featured that week in a table, one gathers the twelve locations filmed that day (restaurants, a bus terminal, a market, an island, a hospital), and one covers only this restaurant but opens by crediting its photographs to the venue's own listing and then copies the menu, prices and all. None of the three says what anyone ate. The third one's prices agree with the visits we read, and we still did not use them: a correct number from somebody else's database is not our number.
  • The registered address and twenty-two posts say the third floor; three say the second. All three of those also print the address with "3F" in the same post. We cannot settle it — no post explains whether the terrace sits a floor below or whether three writers simply mistyped. Thirteen posts say to press 3 in the lift, so press 3.
  • One writer saw the toilet and did not say where it is. She calls it very clean and photographs it; that is all we have — inside the restaurant or shared on the floor, we cannot tell. One post's header runs "group seating / bookable / wi-fi / separate men's and women's toilets / corkage" in a single line, which is a copied amenities list, so we did not count it. We did not count the wi-fi on that line either.
  • Nobody records queueing. This place runs on bookings, not a line — fifteen writers reserved through Naver or the Catch Table app. Two walked in and both got a table, one at half past five on a Saturday, straight onto the terrace. Another found only three tables occupied at half past two on a Saturday. One post's bullet warning that the wait "can be long" at weekends is a guess, so we did not count it. Since it takes bookings, the question is not how long the line is but whether a seat is left — one writer says the terrace is only two tables, another says three, and two say you can pick your seat when you book.
  • Writers disagree about the price: four call it dear, three call it fair — and the axis is how much they ordered. The cheerful ones paid ₩88,000 for four dishes between two, found the bottle list starting in the forties reasonable, called it sensible. The others put it at ₩30,000–40,000 a head, warn that two people eating properly reach ₩100,000, and note that even a light meal came to over ₩60,000. Three writers give a total for two: ₩88,000, ₩111,000 and a little over ₩60,000.
  • They disagree about portions too: two found them generous, two short — and both of the latter had ordered only two or three dishes. One suggests an appetiser, a main and a small dish for two; another says the kitchen does not compete on volume and you should add something starchy. On the other side, one found the paella more than the stated two servings and another called the cod portion large. One writer transcribes the menu as marking the paella 1.5 servings. Two say three dishes were enough for two people; two ordered four and finished them.
  • Sixteen writers say who they came with, and fourteen came as a pair — seven of those for an anniversary: two wedding anniversaries, a first year of marriage, a birthday, a 1500-day, and two unspecified. Two parties were larger than two: four couples and a child, seven people and a dog, seated in the private room; and a birthday lunch for three. Nobody came alone. The phrases about group seating come from copied information blocks, and the suggestions that it would suit a gathering are guesses, so we counted neither. One writer says the room holds seven at most.
  • Only the closing time is in doubt. All nineteen posts that give hours open at 11:30, and sixteen say it shuts on Mondays. For closing, fourteen say ten at night and four say half past nine — and all four of those were written between December 2024 and February 2026, while all nine posts from March 2026 onward say ten. It looks like a change, and we cannot say that it is one: every one of the nineteen is a header information line, and nobody writes about being there at closing time. Two posts, from January and February 2026, split it by day: half past nine Tuesday to Thursday and on Sunday, ten on Friday and Saturday. So Sunday may close an hour early. Two say there is no afternoon break. And one post alone gives the phone number as 0507-1498-5770 where five others give 02-6671-2225 — the first is the proxy number the listing site attaches, and that post's hours look copied from the same place.
  • No post declares itself sponsored. Eleven say they paid their own way; the other sixteen do not raise it. Six did take the review-for-a-dish promotion, which is worth holding in mind when you read them. And twenty-seven posts are twenty-seven people — no blogger wrote twice. One of them mentions going back on another day for the honey cod alone, so twenty-seven posts cover twenty-eight visits.
