Gray Penguin Coffee takes up a whole building in a lane off the Seoul Forest café street: counter and dessert case on the ground floor, more seating on the first, and a rooftop laid with artificial grass on the second. As the name promises, penguins are everywhere — dolls, figures, drawings — and more than ten writers describe hunting for them floor by floor. Tarts are the point, eight or nine of them in the case at a time. Ten in the morning to half past ten at night, every day. One writer notes a one-drink-per-person rule. Getting there

Naver Map has a full English mode — Settings → Language → English. In Korea it gives better walking and transit directions than Google Maps.

Getting inside

You climb to get in. One writer describes "half a flight of stairs up to the café" — not a step at the door but a staircase. Two call the stairs to the first floor narrow, one of them spiral, and the roof terrace is another flight beyond that. No post mentions a lift or a ramp, and none checks whether a wheelchair or a pushchair can get in. That is not a finding of no access; it is a finding that nobody looked.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 24 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

When the posts appeared

What we do not know

• No post declares sponsorship. Nine say they paid; the rest say nothing. One, though, opens with the discount rates of a coupon app — ₩20,000 of credit for ₩13,000 — and tags it accordingly, which reads as promotion for the app rather than the café. What that writer actually observed (the toilet is inside; it was calm on a weekend) does not conflict with anyone else, so we counted it. One post we removed from the denominator altogether. It gives the wrong street and the wrong closing time, against more than twenty posts that agree on both. Above all, it never once says the word penguin — in a café where every other account begins with them. Either it has been confused with a similarly named place, or it was written without going.
• There is no parking. Three writers establish it first-hand: two drove and left the car in a municipal lot nearby, and one looked at the lane and concluded it was impossible. Three more simply copy the listing's "no parking" line, which we have not counted.
• On the chairs they disagree. One writer sank happily into a sofa on the first floor; another found them "chosen for looks, a bit hard, not for sitting in all afternoon" — though she forgave it for the atmosphere. On the size, too: most call it roomy, but one reports that the tables are not far enough apart, and a passer-by knocked the bag off the back of her chair. One writer finds it dear for the area; another says it is in line with the rest of Seongsu.
