Gimgane Seoulsup IT Valley is a gimbap-and-snack diner on the ground floor (unit 107) of the Seoulsup IT Valley building, two to five minutes on foot from exit 4 of Ttukseom station — one branch of a chain found all over Korea. It is a weekday lunch place for the offices around it: four of the five people we read work nearby. The menu is long — gimbap and ramyeon alongside cutlets, rice bowls and soups; one writer calls it agony for the indecisive. The prices we could confirm are ₩9,500 for the loin cutlet (2024) and, from 2023, ₩8,000 kimchi fried rice, ₩7,000 cheese *rabokki*, ₩4,000 gimbap, ₩4,000 ramyeon. Whatever you order, pickled radish, kimchi and a bowl of broth come with it, and one writer says the broth is refillable. Three posts say it opens at 7 or 8 in the morning and closes between 8 and 9 at night, closed Sundays — but the opening hour differs in each of the three, so only the Sunday closing is in our table. At half past twelve the seats are full and people stand at the door; someone who came a little later found it quiet. What sets it apart
- Two writers, three years apart, reached for the same phrase: the taste you already know. In 2021, of the sweet-potato cutlet: "the cutlet a snack shop makes — not bad, not remarkable." In 2024, of the loin cutlet: "the ordinary, familiar cutlet. Good, but for the price a disappointment in quality and in quantity." This is not a complaint — both also say they enjoyed the meal. It is not a destination but the place near the office, and that is how all five of our writers use it: four work nearby, and one records it in a monthly diary as a single line about "the office scene: eating at Gimgane, then having a pastry." Nothing in these five posts gives a visitor a reason to come to Seongsu for this — what it is good for is that it opens at eight in the morning, it is easy to eat in alone, and the menu is long.
- At half past twelve there is nowhere to sit; a little later it is quiet — two writers say opposite things, and the difference is the clock. April 2021: "why are all these people standing outside? — because I got here at 12:30. Every seat was taken when I arrived. But there are plenty of tables inside." March 2024: "at lunchtime this place must fill up with the Seongsu office crowd — I came a little later and there was hardly anyone." That is not a disagreement, it is a timetable. The 2021 writer, writing during the pandemic, adds that distancing was not much observed at that hour. Even she does not say she queued: she saw people standing, went in, and by the time she left the seats had emptied. The room is not small — the 2024 post's header claims many four-tops and forty seats in a basement room, though that is a line copied from the shop's own information and we have not counted it. Push lunch back to one o'clock and you will get a seat.

February 2023: "they say you can't fill up for ten thousand won any more — but if your wallet is thin, gimbap at ₩4,000 and ramyeon at ₩4,000 is still a decent combination", and: the famous cold-noodle house nearby is too dear to bother with, "whereas here you can come without thinking about it and eat your fill." Getting inside
Not one of the five posts says whether you can get in without steps. No threshold, no ramp, no doorway width — nobody looked. This is a shop where the silence matters more than usual: it sits on the ground floor of an office building, and one post's header mentions forty seats in the basement, so you may have to change floors to be seated — and nobody says whether that means stairs only or a lift. The toilet appears to be the building's, so the route to it is unverified as well.

What we do not know
- This building holds several restaurants, and they use the same branch name — "Seoulsup IT Valley". It is what confused us most in the reading, and it can confuse you at the door. Of the thirty posts collected under this shop's name, twenty-four were about other restaurants in the same building: twelve about Ihwasu Traditional Yukgaejang (unit 106), three about Hyundaiok (unit 103), three about Gangnam Myeonok (unit 110). We are unit 107. In twenty-two of them the word "Gimgane" never appears at all — what matched was not the shop's name but the building's. Also swept in: a write-up of a shaved-ice machine demonstration in an office on the fifteenth floor of the same building, and a leather workshop's post in which our building appears only as the paid car park nearby. What to ask for is not the building but the unit number: Seongsu-il-ro 77, Seoulsup IT Valley, ground floor, unit 107. One 2023 writer left directions worth keeping: five minutes from exit 4 of Ttukseom station, on the opposite side from the Open University and the Blue Bottle, and not to be confused with the Seoul Forest SKV1 tower. A 2021 visitor had a word about the name itself: "it's a fair way from Seoul Forest — I've no idea why it's called the Seoul Forest branch."
