Gandou Dining

간도우 다이닝 “Gandou Dining” — Gandou is the name the owner's sushi shops have carried since 2015, and 다이닝 is the English word “dining” written in Korean letters. The shop writes itself Gandou Dining on Instagram

Gandou Dining is a small sushi tavern up half a flight, in the lane right outside exit 7 at Ttukseom. A counter and three tables for four is the whole room, and two posts say one person cooks and serves it all. It opens only at night — 18:30 to 02:00, last orders at one, by three accounts. Sushi is ordered a piece at a time, but the first order must be six, and everyone must order at least one drink. Ten of the eleven posts talk about the Suntory draught. The posts we read run from December 2025 to August 2026.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Ten of the eleven posts are about the beer — more than write about the food. Suntory Premium Malt's on draught, ₩8,900, poured the way the owner learned it from a Suntory master, by two accounts. Two record a 7:3 head; four call the foam creamy; one wonders whether this is really a beer place that happens to serve sushi. Two describe using it to clear the palate after a fatty piece.
  2. Nobody calls it expensive. All five posts that discuss price use the word 'value', and they point at the same figures: six pieces of sushi for ₩9,500, eight of sashimi for ₩16,900, ramen for ₩10,000. One writer sets it against Seongsu's other sashimi menus, where the first page starts at thirty or forty thousand. Allow for the one-drink-per-person minimum when you do the sums.
  3. It is right outside exit 7 at Ttukseom. Eight posts say the station is close, and unusually precise about it: one gives sixty-seven metres, three say a minute's walk, one says twenty seconds. Another adds six minutes from Seoulsup and thirteen from Seongsu. One post says exit 1; every other says 7.
  4. It is very small. Five posts say so, and the three that count the seats agree exactly: a counter and three tables for four. One writer, arriving at the weekend, got the last two seats. Most like it that way — a neighbourhood place in Japan, a friend's front room, the opposite of Seongsu's big loud izakayas. One says plainly it is not where you take a work party.
  5. One person runs it. Two posts say so — one from watching, one from the line on the menu warning that cooking starts when you order. The first adds a guess: that the shop is kept small on purpose. In practice nobody complains of waiting; two say the food came at an easy pace.
  6. Weekdays and weekends are not the same. The one writer who came at a weekend found a wait and advises arriving early; the same writer on a weekday simply sat down. Two say to book for the weekend, and one confirms Naver takes bookings. The weekend post adds that a good many of the other customers were foreign visitors.
  7. Two posts say the fish is bought at the dawn auction — seafood at Noryangjin, produce at Garak — quoting the menu. The same two note that what is available changes daily with the season and the market, and that the day's line-up goes up on Instagram. So do not count on finding any particular fish.
  8. This is the third shop. One post copies the history from the menu: a sushi shop near Achasan from 2015 to 2025, a move to Seongsu in 2025, and this izakaya at Ttukseom opening the same year. Another describes the place as that sushi shop made over. Among the posts we collected there was one about the Seongsu shop; its first line reports that it has closed. This page counts only the Ttukseom one.

Parking

Posts saying you cannot3 of 11 posts

There is no car park. Three posts say so, one of them adding that if you drive you will be paying for a space nearby, and that the train is simply better. It is also a bar that stays open until two.

No post says whether a wheelchair or a pushchair gets in. Three do say you climb half a floor or a floor from the lane, so there are certainly steps. How many, and whether there is another way, nobody writes.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 14 posts we gathered, 3 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2026-05-172 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Three of the fourteen are not accounts of a visit. Two of them come from the same blog, two days apart, and describe dishes this shop does not serve — a clay-pot rice, an abalone pasta, charcoal skewers, an open kitchen, a two-and-a-half-hour table limit. They give different opening hours from each other, and neither matches the hours the real posts record. They disagree on which station exit. One of them states in its own text that the photograph is AI-generated. The third simply reprints the Naver listing's review counts, and says the opening hours and booking policy could not be established. All three are out of the denominator. We did use their menu prices to check against the rest.
  • Eleven posts are not eleven people. One blogger wrote three of them — December, then twice in February — and links to two earlier ones we did not collect. That makes nine people. Three of the four 'came back' counts are theirs. That writer adds, unprompted, that they have no connection to the place.
  • Three writers were given something free — a slice of mackerel pike, a piece of yellowtail, a salad — handed over at the table, not arranged in advance. Worth knowing when reading the warmth of the praise. Four state outright that they paid for everything.
  • You go up half a flight to get in. Three posts say so — one calls it half a floor, two call it the second floor — while the registered address says ground floor. What they mean is that there are steps from the lane. How many, and whether there is any way round them, nobody writes. Nor does anyone say whether a wheelchair or a pushchair gets in. That three separate writers mention the stairs is itself worth knowing before you go.
  • The posts disagree about closing days. One says Mondays and Tuesdays. One says Mondays and Tuesdays usually, Wednesdays uncertain, Thursday through Sunday reliable. One says Wednesdays, and was let in on Christmas Eve anyway. One says there is no regular closing day at all. Four posts, four answers. By date they drift from Wednesday in December to Monday-and-Tuesday in February, but that is as far as we can take it. Ring before you go.
  • The toilet is outside the shop — right beside the door, and clean, says the one writer who mentions it. Only one of the eleven does.
  • Nobody writes about coming alone. One post notes the counter and that six pieces suits one person, but of the eleven, five came as a pair and two with a group, and none by themselves. The one-drink-per-person rule applies whoever you come with.
