Dodot is a charcoal grill house on the ground floor of 15 Wangsimni-ro 4-gil, two or three minutes on foot from exit 7 of Ttukseom station. It occupies its own building, with a wide glass frontage. Meat is cooked on a cast-iron plate set over charcoal, and the menu runs from Korean pork — belly, neck, collar fillet — up to 1++ No.9 Hanwoo beef at the same table. It opens at eleven on weekdays and noon at weekends, closes at ten, and shuts between half past two and half past four on weekdays. The licence dates from December 2025, and a writer who came in early September calls it a place that opened a few months ago. Unusually for Seongsu, there is room to park in front of the door.

  Banchan and dipping sauces

  **The longest passages in these posts are not about what things cost but about what arrives free.** Eight of the nine describe the spread; three count eleven items, one counts ten. **Three of them are dips.** First, **tonkatsu sauce and breadcrumbs** — dip the meat in the sauce, then press it into the crumbs, and it tastes like a pork cutlet. Six writers describe this and none of them had met it before. Second, **meljeot**, fermented anchovy sauce; two note that it is unusually unsalty here, so they dunked rather than dabbed. Third, **salt and wasabi**. The dishes themselves vary between accounts, but three of them list the same three: white kimchi, seasoned radish and dressed spring onion, alongside cabbage kimchi, potato-and-egg salad, soy-pickled onion, garlic scapes, pickles and ssamjang. Two say to eat the fattier cuts with the white kimchi or the radish.

One notes how thickly it is cut; two describe it as browned outside and still wet inside, the fat arriving before the lean. It is grilled on **a cast-iron plate set over charcoal** — two mention this, and one was charmed to find grain that looked like barley scattered around the rim of the plate. Spring onion and king oyster mushroom come alongside.

  **Four writers finished the meal with it, and all four chose this over the other stews.** Three price it at 8,000 won; one notes that rice is extra. **There is minced pork in the pot** — one writer singles it out for making the broth rich and nutty, another calls the broth deep but mild, a third says it cleared the grease away and sent her back to the grill. Generous with tofu and vegetables.

  **Two ate it, and two price the 160g serving at 19,000 won.** Both say the same thing: for neck, it was not dry. **One writer regretted not ordering it** — she overheard other tables praising it and wished she had. Because the cut is lean, a member of staff told one writer to dip it in the tonkatsu sauce first and then in the breadcrumbs.

  **The cut that drew the loudest praise.** Two writers ate it; two price the 160g serving at 19,500 won. One ordered belly, neck and collar fillet together to compare, and she and her friend spent the rest of the meal saying they should have ordered nothing but the collar — it melted, she writes, like butter. Another found it chewier and nuttier, and recommends it on a leaf of white kimchi with a dab of wasabi.

  **8,000 won**, according to two posts. The only people in our reading who ate it were a company party, who photographed it glossy with a soft yolk sitting on top.

  **A pork house that also sells beef.** Two posts price 1++ No.9 chuck flap at 48,000 won, one prices brisket at 40,000. Nobody ordered beef on its own; one writer had it in the mixed set. Her point in its favour: on most grill dates you have to choose between beef and pork, and here you do not. She also notes the beef cooks noticeably faster.

  **The largest set, pork and 1++ No.9 beef together. The price does not agree**: two posts from 2 September say 88,000 won, one from 25 August says 78,000. The one writer who actually ate it paid the higher figure.

  **The two posts that price it disagree**: 9,000 won each on 2 September, 8,000 on 25 August. One writer ate one of them without saying which, and liked it for being exactly the cold, frankly MSG-ish noodle she expected.

  **A pork set built from a neck broken down into its separate muscles.** One post prices it at 62,000 won; one writer ate it, and was surprised that a single neck could be cut so many different ways.

  **One writer ate it, in April**, for 8,000 won, and describes it as the sharp, chilli-hot one that wakes the appetite up. No later post mentions it.

  **The alternative to the soybean stew.** Two posts record it on the menu and one prices it at 8,000 won, but **both of those writers chose the doenjang instead** — one says so in as many words. Nobody in our reading has tasted it.

  **Only one post lists it and nobody in our reading ate it.** At 22,000 won for 160g it is the most expensive pork on the menu as our writers recorded it.

Parking

3 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

There is space to park in front of the door — but nobody counted the spaces for themselves. Three writers saw the parking and wrote about it; one points out that Seongsu is a parking war and that a place with its own frontage is worth a good deal. The figure of five cars appears in five posts, and in all five it is hearsay — they say it is said to hold five, or that the listing gives five — and two of them add that you should ring ahead to check. Only one says the parking is free.

Getting inside

Not one post says whether you can get in with a wheelchair or a pushchair. None of those words appears anywhere in the nine. It is a ground floor and nobody mentions steps — but nobody says whether there is a lip at the door either, so we do not know. If it matters, ring and ask.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 29 posts we gathered, 20 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

When the posts appeared

What we do not know

• Six posts say there is a private room; not one of their writers has been inside it. All six are repeating something — that there is a room at the back, that it is for booked parties only. Nobody photographed it. So we do not know how many rooms there are, how many people fit, or whether they cost extra. Two writers say it has to be booked in advance, so if you need one, ring first. Two mention tables for four and for six, and one describes the seating as divided into booths.
• We cannot tell you whether you will have to wait. Not one of the nine says they queued, and not one says they walked straight in. A single post mentions that the restaurant takes walk-ins as well as bookings, but even that writer does not say she waited. Six of the nine went on a weekday or in the middle of the day, and none of them went on a Friday or Saturday evening — so about those hours our reading is silent.
• Nothing in these posts is about the toilets. Whether they are inside the restaurant, and whether they are separate for men and women, we do not know. One post does carry a line saying the toilets are separate — but it sits in a block copied straight from the restaurant's Naver listing, not in anything the writer saw, so we have not counted it.
• What a search turns up about this restaurant and what we read are two different things. Of the thirty posts our collection confirmed, nine were written by someone who ate here. Twenty were either a best-of listicle or part of a paid campaign posted over two days, 10 and 11 September — the blog names are machine-made, the same anecdote about a stomach rumbling appears verbatim on four different blogs, and a distinctive typo, a space dropped into the middle of the word for 'extra', runs through eight of them. One more post was about a different restaurant altogether. Our figures count only the remaining nine. None of those nine was declared as sponsored; two say they paid their own way, and one was a company dinner.
• It is on the ground floor and you walk in from the street. The address gives the first floor of 15 Wangsimni-ro 4-gil, and one writer describes a large free-standing building. Nobody among the nine mentions stairs, an upper floor or a basement. Two do remark on the height of the ceiling — one had not expected it of a grill house. None of them says which door you use; they say only that the glass front is wide and that the building is visible from some way off.
