Daeyeop Live Noodle Bar
대엽라이브누들바 Daeyeop Raibeu Nudeulba Daeyeop is the restaurant brand of chef Ko Seok-hyun, seen on the TV show Culinary Class Wars; Live Noodle Bar is what this branch calls itself, and the shop describes it as a small laboratory for broth and noodles whose menu changes as the research does. Note for finding it: Daeyeop Seongsu is a SEPARATE restaurant immediately to the right of this one, with a different menu — one visitor walked into the wrong door and found the dish she came for was not on this menu.

Daeyeop Live Noodle Bar is a pyeongyang-naengmyeon house at 38 Wangsimni-ro 2-gil, six or seven minutes' walk from exit 1 of Seoul Forest station. The building next door is Daeyeop Seongsu, the same owner's other shop — the core menu is shared, this side leaning to noodles and rice soups, that side to drinking and its dishes. It belongs to a chef who appeared on the Netflix cooking show, and a sign on the wall says the place is a laboratory for broth and noodles, where the menu may change as the research does. The cold noodles are ₩13,000 and come with a small bowl of cold rice; in summer there is a pumpkin soy-milk noodle. Counter seats run along the walls, which makes it easy to eat alone, and you order from the QR code at your seat. Open daily 11:30–22:00 with a break from 15:30 to 18:00 — though those hours are new as of the summer of 2026. The sixteen posts we read run from December 2025 to September 2026.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- You queue, and you cannot book. Ten posts mention waiting, and two are explicit about reservations: the booking app shows the place but takes no reservations, and while the shop next door accepts both online and on-site queueing, this one is walk-in only. The queue is a paper list at the door that you write your name on — two writers describe it, one calling it pleasingly analogue — and nobody calls you, so you wait within sight of the door. Two record how long: an hour and four minutes at lunch on a public holiday (arrived 13:40, seated 14:44), and ten minutes at 11:40 on a weekday. One found the counter already full at opening on a Saturday; another avoided the place all summer for the queues. Going outside the lunch rush shortens it — two say so. Note that the lunch last order is 15:00 and the break starts at 15:30, so arriving after two is cutting it fine.
- Counter seats run along the walls. Three writers describe them; one came alone and took a long single table, another brought two friends and they sat in a row. Which means it is tight for a group: the tables are small and plainly not built for a party, says one; it is smaller than the shop next door, says another; not roomy, but clean, says a third. Groups belong next door, where two posts note a private room and tables for two to four. You order from the QR code at your seat (eight posts), and two writers like the paper-wrapped cutlery and the condiments already set out. One found the room cold enough to shiver in.

Parking
2 posts say you cannot park. None say you can.

There is no car park. Two posts say so, one adding that the shop next door has space for about three cars in front — which is the neighbour's, not this one's. A writer at the neighbour calls even that cramped and points to the public car parks near Seoul Forest station. Not one of the sixteen reports actually parking. It is six or seven minutes from the station, and this is a place where you queue, which makes a parked car an awkward thing to have. Take the train.

It is at street level — not one post mentions a step or a stair. All sixteen give the address as the ground floor. But whether there is a lip at the door, how the door opens, how much room there is between the counter stools, whether a wheelchair or a pushchair could come in — nobody says. That is not a yes; it means we do not know. Most of the seating is counter stools, which is worth knowing in advance; no post says whether they have backs. One post says the lavatory is inside, in its information block, and nobody describes it further. If it matters, ring 0507-1399-1366 first.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know
- People mix this place up with the one next door, and so did our sources — we moved two of the twenty-three posts to the neighbour. Daeyeop Seongsu (no. 36) and Daeyeop Live Noodle Bar (no. 38) stand side by side under near-identical signs. The writers say so themselves: one assumed the same person happened to run two shops; another walked in thinking her regular had been refurbished; a third simply could not work out the difference. Three things separate them: the street number, the telephone (…2006 for one, …1366 for this one) and the break time (15:00–17:30 next door, 15:30–18:00 here). Four writers came here only because the queue next door was too long — so some of what follows was written by people who had meant to eat somewhere else.
- Read the prices and hours here as a snapshot of the summer of 2026. The place opened at the end of 2025 — one writer describes it as the original Daeyeop expanding into the building next door, and adds that the unit had been an oden bar before (the 2023 licence date in our records appears to belong to that bar). So ten months is all there is, and in that time the opening hours changed wholesale: a 21:00 close with no break and weekends off became a 22:00 close, a new mid-afternoon break, and seven days a week. The prices move too — the cold noodles are ₩14,000 in January and May and ₩13,000 in July and August. And the restaurant itself posts a notice that the menu may change as its research does. No post declares a sponsorship and three state they paid their own way; the other thirteen say neither, which is not the same as taking nothing.
- It is at street level and visible from the pavement. All sixteen posts give the ground floor; none mentions stairs or a basement. But it stands shoulder to shoulder with its sibling, so read the sign before you walk in — one writer says the two signs are almost impossible to tell apart, and another spells it out: the noodle bar is on the left, Daeyeop on the right. A third noticed the name 'Daeyeop Seongsu' on both buildings. This one carries 'Live Noodle Bar' above the door and a board out front describing itself as a place that studies noodles and broth.
