Daesan Chamsut-gui

대산 참숯구이 A charcoal grill by Ttukseom Station run by a meat wholesaler, doing dry-aged pork and marinated ribs plus a cheap weekday lunch set.

Charcoal-grilled meat · Seongdong-gu, Seongsu-dong 1-ga

Updated · Published

Daesan Chamsutgui is a charcoal pork grill 59 metres from exit 7 of Ttukseom station — out of the station, right, thirty seconds. It is run directly by a slaughterhouse company that handles about 12% of the Korean pork market, a line printed at the door and copied into eight of the posts. Belly, neck and skirt are ₩18,000 a portion; the house dish is 250g of marinated fresh ribs. It is cooked over real charcoal, seared first in the kitchen and then finished for you at the table by the staff. But two of every three posts we read are about lunch: a set menu at ₩10,000–13,000 served from 11:30 to 14:30 pulls in the office workers nearby. Open every day, 11:30 to 23:00, no break and no closing day. It opened in the summer of 2026; the writing we read runs from 20 July to 24 September.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. The staff do the grilling. Ten posts say so. One writer describes them lifting the meat off to change the grill plate mid-cook, and laying each finished piece on the rest in front of her so it does not burn. Belly and neck arrive already seared once on the grill by the kitchen window (three posts), and the writer who ordered the sharing platter had hers seared and cut for her before the staff left the table. One says the owner came over to explain how to cook it. The charcoal is real — several photograph it. One warning: marinated ribs catch fast, so turn them often.
  2. Twenty posts call it roomy — the most agreed-upon thing about this place. There are tables for two to four alongside long ones, and two posts mention a private room for up to fifty and the option of taking the whole restaurant. Six note the space between tables; three that a charcoal grill house somehow does not smell of smoke, one crediting the extraction. The room is dressed as an old Korean house — thatch, straw, white porcelain — and is variously likened to a country tavern, a gentry household's feast and a granary. You order from a small kiosk on your own table (seven posts), and cutlery, napkins, wet wipes and cups sit in a drawer or shelf beside you, so there is little need to call anyone over.

Parking

4 posts say you cannot park. None say you can.

Posts saying you cannot4 of 29 posts

There is no car park, and exactly one writer actually parked. Four posts carry 'no parking' in their information block, mostly as a copied line. The one who paid describes leaving the car at the Seoul Forest Biz Forest building nearby, at about ₩1,000 per ten minutes. Another post lays out four car parks with their rates, but never says which one she used, so read it as a list someone compiled rather than as experience. It is a minute from the station and a place where people drink with the meat — better to leave the car.

Getting inside

Nobody says whether a wheelchair or a pushchair can get in. Not a ramp, not a threshold, not the width of the aisles, not whether your knees fit under the tables — none of the twenty-nine mentions any of it. That is not a no; it means we do not know. All we could count is that there are high chairs: two writers saw them and one actually used one, with her baby. The lavatory being upstairs in the building next door, behind a keypad, is worth knowing in advance. If it matters, ring 0507-1470-7777.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • Nineteen of the twenty-nine posts are about lunch. They describe the set menu, which means this page knows the evening version of this restaurant from ten posts only. More people here ate the kimchi-stew set than grilled meat at the table; more ate the steamed egg (five) than the signature ribs (four); nobody at all ordered the jowl. If you are going in the evening to grill, most of the numbers on this page come from a different hour of the day. There is a reason lunch dominates: the set comes already grilled, and as one writer puts it, an office worker with a short break gets no grilling time and less smoke in her clothes.
  • The lavatory is outside the restaurant. Four writers checked for themselves: up to the first or second floor of the building on the left; outside, with a keypad code you are shown; out of the door, right, and locked with a code. You need the number to get in. One writer scoring the place out of five gave the lavatory three. Two posts say the lavatories are split by gender, but that line is lifted word for word from the Naver listing's facilities box, so we have not counted it — which is not a denial, only that nobody who went wrote it down.
  • Nobody reports queueing. Two say the opposite — straight in, no wait — and both came on a weekday at lunch. What several did see is the apparatus for waiting: a small bench area by the door (three posts) with water set out, and remote queueing through the CatchTable app (two). One writer notes that peak lunch and dinner can produce a wait, though she did not have one. You can book through Naver (six posts); one writer was told the back tables are held for reservations and that parties of four or more should book. For an evening or a group, booking looks like the safer bet — but we have not counted a queue ourselves.
  • It is at street level, visible from the station exit. Several writers say you cannot miss it: straight out of exit 7, on your right, behind a heavy wooden door under a carved sign. But whether there is a step at that door, how heavy it is, or whether anything inside needs stepping over — none of the twenty-nine says. No post mentions stairs inside. The lavatory is the exception: it is up on the first or second floor of the building next door, so that part does involve stairs.
  • This restaurant pays for reviews. Nine posts mention the same offer: write a Naver receipt review and get a soft-serve ice cream (seven) or a tub of sea salt (two). What we read are blog posts, not Naver reviews, but it is worth knowing what some of the praise around a place is in exchange for. One post declares a sponsorship outright. Two state they paid their own way (one posts the receipt), and the other twenty-six say nothing either way — which is not the same as taking nothing. The writing is also bunched: all twenty-nine were written within two months of the opening, and several say as much, one admitting she wanted to post while the map still said 'newly opened'. These are the first two months' worth of words about a new restaurant.
  • From two until four in the afternoon, order meat and drink is unlimited for ₩10,000 a head. Four posts mention it and one saw the banner at the door. But all four report it rather than use it — nobody we read was drinking at that hour, and none of them says what the ₩10,000 actually covers. The drink does seem to be taken seriously here: three writers photographed a soju cabinet held at minus nine degrees, one notes that draught Suntory in a grill house is rare, and two mention corkage for a fee. If you are not drinking, the value is at lunch: eleven posts say the place is not expensive, and not one says it is.
