Casa da Lua is a Portuguese egg-tart shop in a lane off Seongdeokjeong-gil in Seongsu. The name is Portuguese for house of the moon, and what it sells is egg tarts, one rotating second flavour, and a short list of coffees. There is nowhere to sit — there is a door but you cannot go in; you order through a small window in the wall and carry it away. What looks like a couple bakes in small batches behind it, and when they are gone, the day is over. It is well off the main Seongsu drag, on a two-lane road thirteen to twenty minutes' walk from any station, with a narrow pavement. The posts we read run from November 2022 to December 2025, twenty-seven of them.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.
What sets it apart
- All twenty-seven posts say the same thing: takeaway only. Inside is workspace; you order from the street through what one writer calls a hole in the wall so small you end up putting your face into it, and another says you knock and wait for someone to come out. Two arrived not knowing: one had spent an afternoon finding four other cafés shut or being refitted, landed here on a rare free hour after lunch, and only then discovered there was nowhere to eat it. So this is a shop you come to having already decided where you will eat. Four to eight tarts go in a paper bag free; a six-piece gift box is ₩1,000; and they hand it over with the bag open — four posts relay the instruction that the pastry needs air.
- Booking has got heavier year by year. Fifteen posts mention reserving or ringing ahead, and the tone hardens. May 2023: they sell out early, so it is worth calling first. November 2024: quantities are limited and they recommend reserving; another that month says if you want a relaxed choice, book. By June 2025 it is 'text them, please, please — otherwise you will not get any,' and a note that on the busiest days everything goes at opening. Three ways in: phone (0507-1392-6962), Instagram DM (@casadalua_seoul), or text. Four writers say the shop posts each day's sell-out on Instagram, so check that if you are going without a booking. One post, from March 2024, says a reservation holds your pick-up until seven in the evening.
- Seven posts describe being served through the little window. Two say a couple bakes inside. What they share is being told things: leave the bag open or the pastry softens (four); eat it warm, or freeze it and use an air fryer (two); dust it with the cinnamon (several). One was asked to come back in fifteen minutes because a batch was in the oven, and went for a walk; another watched the tarts lifted with tongs, one at a time, because they break. One writer was given something free — arriving last on a rainy day in June 2025, she was handed something not for sale, just to taste. Nobody reports being treated badly. One does note that the window is small enough that you cannot hear well through it.

Parking
5 posts say you cannot park. None say you can.

There is nowhere to park. Five posts say so, most of them just 'no parking, use public transport.' One writer did drive, though, and left something usable: it sits on a two-lane residential road, so parking is hard, but you can book ahead, pull in briefly and grab it, or use a municipal car park nearby, which is what he did. Since there is nowhere to sit, collecting by car makes a kind of sense — but remember the narrow pavement on a two-lane road. No post names a car park or a rate. One post also notes there is no wifi, which follows from there being no seats, but we record it.

Getting there

Naver Map has a full English mode — Settings → Language → English. In Korea it gives better walking and transit directions than Google Maps.
Getting inside
Not one post says whether you can get to the window. There is nothing to go inside for, but whether the hatch is reachable from the street, whether there is a step at the door, how high the window sits — none of the twenty-seven says. Wheelchairs and pushchairs are not mentioned at all, which means we do not know, not that it cannot be done. Two things are certain. The pavement is narrow: one writer notes it is tight enough to mind the buses, and that this makes buying slightly awkward. And there is no lavatory — inevitable in a shop that is all workspace, but worth saying, since not one of the twenty-seven mentions one either. If it matters, the number is 0507-1392-6962.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know
- What matters is not the closing time but how many they baked. Sixteen posts note that they shut early when the tarts run out, and some wasted journeys are on record: one writer arrived at twenty past three in November 2024 to find every egg tart gone, with not even a photograph left to take; two others found the mocha already sold out. Others got in by a whisker — four tarts left at half past two on a Sunday; a lucky six between three and four. A March 2024 post reports that for a while they were closing at half five or six. By December 2025 the closing time has dropped out altogether: the sign says open at half ten, close when sold out. And one warning worth repeating: Naver lists a five o'clock close, but a month earlier the shop itself said six. Do not plan around the map.
- Over three years the hours have moved in one direction only. Closing time: eight in November 2022; seven across ten posts from May 2023 to August 2024; six in October 2024; five across five posts from November 2024 to March 2025; four from June 2025. Opening has come forward the other way, from twelve to eleven to half ten. An eight-hour day has become five and a half. The closed days have grown too — twenty posts up to March 2025 say Mondays; from 28 June 2025 it is Mondays and Tuesdays. It reads like what happens to a small hand-baking shop that becomes well known, but nobody says why and we could not ask. If you are going, check the most recent word you can find.
- It is a long way from any station. Nine posts give a distance and every one is over ten minutes: thirteen to fifteen from Seoulsup exit 2, ten to twenty from Seongsu exit 3, sixteen from Ttukseom exit 5. One writer warns that walking from Seongsu is harder than it sounds; another that the village bus takes about as long as walking. It is also hard to find — through lane after lane, turning corners until you wonder where you are; no large sign, sitting right on the road in a way that feels hidden; one writer walked straight past it with the map open. The landmark to look for is the European tiled wall. The pavement is narrow: one post notes that on this old road it is tight enough to mind the buses, which makes buying slightly awkward.
- No post discloses a sponsorship. We looked to the last hashtag and found no 'provided for review' and no #ad. Six say they paid their own way; the other twenty-one say nothing either way, which is not the same as having taken nothing. The writing is evenly spread — six or seven posts a year across three years, with no cluster. Four did land in March 2024 (the 7th, 17th, 19th and 27th), but they read nothing like each other and each bought something different. The three posts we excluded are not about this shop under any reading: a dinner at a restaurant in Konkuk that shares one word of the name; a nationwide list of photography exhibitions that happens to include a gallery at number 58 on the same street; and a roundup of twenty-six bakeries where our entry is the line 'someone recommended these to me.'
- Not one of twenty-seven posts mentions a toilet. That is not surprising: this is a take-away counter with nowhere to sit, as several writers spell out. But it is a shop people queue at, so you may need to find one nearby — and whether there is one here, we do not know. That is an absence, not a no.
- Nor does any post mention a floor, a stair or a threshold. All we know is the address — ground floor, 66 Seongdeokjeong-gil — and even that comes from the check-in tag on twenty-one of the posts; no writer describes climbing a step or meeting a lip at the door. There is no mention of an upstairs or a basement. Whether you can approach it with a wheelchair or a pushchair, we do not know. Since this is a counter you collect from rather than a room you sit in, the real question is probably whether you can wait on the pavement where the queue forms — and nobody writes about that either.
