BACKYARD BUILDER HQ

백야드빌더 HQ Baegyadeu Bildeo HQ Backyard Builder is English for someone who builds things in the back yard — it is a motorcycle and outdoor-apparel brand, and HQ marks this Seongsu cafe as its home base.

Compiled from 14 blog posts read in fullSources →

A motorcycle cafe at 152 Gwangnaru-ro in Seongdong-gu, north of Ttukseom station near the Jungnangcheon stream. It is the shop of the motorcycle and outdoor-apparel brand Backyard Builder, so bikes are always parked out front, and several posts say the wood-and-camping-gear interior feels like a campsite. Drinks run from 4,500 won for an americano to about 6,800 won for milk tea or misutgaru, and since spring 2026 it also sells scones and croissants. There is indoor seating, outdoor seating and an upper deck reached by stairs behind the building. We read 30 posts from October 2025 to September 2026: 3 were about other businesses at the same address and were set aside, 7 were introductions by people who had not visited, and 20 describe an actual visit.

What sets it apart

  1. There is outdoor seating; four posts mention it. Two describe an upper deck with artificial turf reached by outdoor stairs at the back of the building, and one describes looking toward the Jungnangcheon from the roof of what it calls a one-storey building. A November 2025 post skipped the deck because it was too chilly and sat inside.
  2. A biscuit comes with your drink. Two posts mention it: one says the Biscoff biscuit is on the house, the other that it arrives with just the cup, no plate.
  3. Four posts describe the staff or owner as friendly. You order at the door and staff bring the drink to your seat. A December 2025 post found the owner cool at first but kind, and a rider wrote that the owner is easy to chat with.
  4. Four posts say they went back or go often — one calls it a regular stop, one a cafe they visit often, one returned after a month, and one recalls stopping for hot coffee on winter rides. Three of the four are written by motorcyclists.

  1. Of seven posts that say who they came with, three came with a spouse, two with friends, one with a sibling and one alone; the solo visitor stayed about two hours reading. Two posts took their drinks to go and walked on to the stream.
  2. Two posts mention discounts: 1,000 won off takeout during happy hour, and during the 2025 stamp rally a motorcycle jersey sold at 69,000 instead of 75,000 won to anyone who had bought the 6,000-won bandana.
  3. One visit post saw many dog owners, including a friendly husky. Nine posts mention the 3,500-won 'mungpuccino' dog drink, mostly introductions; no visitor bought one. A complaint that it upset a dog's stomach is a copied Naver review, so we do not count it.

Parking

1 posts say you cannot park. None say you can.

Posts saying you cannot1 of 14 posts

Only one visit addressed parking: a couple who came by motorcycle were surprised there was no dedicated parking (October 2025). Another post's 'no parking' is a copied info line. Bikes appear to park out front; no one says where to leave a car.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

Second floor2 of 14 posts

No post describes which floor you enter on; only the address says ground floor. Two 2025 posts say the bike-gear shop Brauner used to operate in the building's basement before moving to Sowol-ro around the turn of 2025. We do not know whether the basement is used now.

Nobody wrote about a step at the door or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller — that means we don't know, not that there is none. Two posts say the upper deck is reached only by outside stairs. One visitor couldn't find the entrance at first and noted the door is a canvas camping flap.

No visit post says where the toilet is or whether it is split by gender. A 'clean restroom' keyword appears only in a copied Naver review, which we do not count.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 21 posts we gathered, 7 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • No visit post describes walking from a station or bus stop; the '505 m from Ttukseom exit 1' figure is copied by introduction posts. Visitors arrived by motorcycle, by Seoul's public bike, or walking along the stream.
  • No one wrote that they had to wait. One post heard from a friend that there is a line every day, but that is hearsay; a November 2025 Saturday visitor found plenty of seats because most customers take drinks to go.
  • Opening hours differ from post to post: 11am to midnight daily (November 2025), 11am to 10pm daily with last order 9:30pm (December 2025), Monday 11–7, Tuesday to Saturday 11–midnight and Sunday 11–10 (April 2026), and 11 to midnight again (July 2026). All four are copied info blocks, so we can't tell whether these are winter hours or a schedule that varies by weekday. Several riders went late at night, and one post likes that it stays open late. No visit post gives a closing day.
  • Prices come mostly from copied menus. The americano stayed at 4,500 won, but Yorkshire Gold milk tea appears at 6,500 won up to April 2026 and 6,800 won as of 6 June, with lemonade and lemon tea also 300 won higher. One receipt shows 14,100 won for two iced Seongsu lattes and a double-chocolate scone. No visit post called it expensive; one said taste, price and mood were all fine.
  • No post gives this cafe's phone number, and none says whether it takes reservations. The numbers that appear belong to Patisserie Armoni and the bar Jinsyoni, which share the same street address.
  • Five autumn-2025 posts are about the motorcycle stamp rally Backyard Builder ran every September from 2021; they say 2025's 'Final Burn' was the last one. Of the seven introduction posts, four follow the same template — copied Naver review counts and keywords, or generic coffee tips — and we counted nothing from them.
