Ibuk Mandu
이북만두 Ibuk means the North — the northern half of the peninsula — and mandu are dumplings: the house serves plain, lightly seasoned North Korean-style dumplings.
Compiled from 12 blog posts read in fullSources →
A North Korean-style dumpling house in an old hanok at the end of a narrow alley behind City Hall Station, at 17-13 Mugyo-ro, Jung-gu. Dumpling soup and plain dumplings are 13,000 won, cold kimchi noodles or rice 11,000 won, and the dumpling hotpot 35,000 won (medium) or 40,000 won (large), usually with pepper or mixed pancakes on the side. We read 20 posts dated from 24 March 2026 to 14 October 2026; one was about another restaurant, and 14 record an actual meal. A reposted January 2021 article lists kimchi rice at 9,000 won and a 9 a.m. opening; we kept that apart from current figures.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- The seasoning is very light. Of 9 posts that described the taste, 5 said it was not salty at all — 'bland, first of all', 'quite plain', 'I liked that it wasn't salty'. Some welcomed that; one writer said flatly it wasn't for him. One post noted soy sauce and salt are on hand.
- It is close to the station but hard to find. Two posts said it is easy by public transport ('two minutes' walk from City Hall Station'), and nearly every post mentions getting lost. Two posts gave the same directions: take the alley between Manbokrim and Les Mains d'Or bakery to the very end.
- Recent posts report no wait. Three said they sat straight down — 'got an empty seat right away', 'seems quieter these days'. One recalled long queues in the past; another warned of a wait at 11:30–12:30, but as advice rather than experience.
- Two posts found it expensive — both about the 11,000-won cold kimchi noodles: 'wickedly pricey for ordinary noodles', 'not great value'.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.
From the station
2 posts say it is walkable from the station.
Getting inside
No post said which floor it is on or whether there are stairs. It appears to be a one-storey hanok, but nobody actually wrote that.
We don't know about steps at the entrance or wheelchair and stroller access. Posts describe crossing a courtyard into the hanok, but none mentioned a threshold.
No post said where the toilet is or whether it is separated by gender.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 17 posts we gathered, 5 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- The sesame oil in the cold noodles divides people: one post found it too greasy, two said it was not greasy.
- One post said seating is at tables, not on the floor. Another wrote of 'sitting on the hanok's wooden floor', but it is unclear whether that meant floor seating, so we did not count it.
- The courtyard seating has changed: one post said tables used to be set out in the courtyard but now only the indoor rooms are used. We don't know when this happened.
- The rolled wrapper-less dumplings are gone: a July 2026 post found them unavailable and an October post said they had been dropped. The July visitor also couldn't get kimchi rice because the rice had run out.
- Company was scattered: friends in two posts, family in one, five coworkers in one. Nobody wrote about going alone or with children.
- Five posts agree on an 11:00 opening and a 14:30–17:00 break, but disagree on weekends: one says 11:00–20:00 on weekends, one says Sunday 11:00–20:00 with Saturdays closed, one says 11:00–21:00 daily. All appear copied from listings, so check before a weekend visit.
- Prices come from menus in posts from July to September 2026. Kimchi rice and noodles, 9,000 won in a January 2021 article, are now 11,000 won.
- Two posts gave the phone number 0507-1410-3432. One saw reserved-seat signs on tables; 'groups and reservations welcome' was copied from a listing.
- Two posts from 15 September 2026 are word-for-word identical, hashtags included, so we treated them as one person cross-posting and counted one visit. A post illustrated only with photos supplied by the restaurant described no actual experience and was not counted.
