Ranju Cheonmyeonggwan is a red-signed Chinese restaurant up the lamb-skewer lane from exit 6 at Konkuk University station. What it serves is not Korean-Chinese but Chinese home cooking and hand-pulled noodles — the name says Lanzhou, and chen mian means noodles drawn out by hand. The owner and staff are Chinese, and the menu is the thickness of a book. Because you can order stir-fries and noodles at the same table, people come alone for a bowl and come in groups to spread dishes out and drink. Noodles and rice run ₩8,000–10,000, the cooked dishes ₩14,000–20,000. Ten in the morning to ten at night, closed Wednesdays. Roasted peanuts and zhacai come free, and black vinegar and chilli oil sit on the table. The posts we read run from October 2024 to September 2026.

What sets it apart

Chinese members of Seventeen and NCT eat here, and people come because of it. Nine writers report seeing the signatures on the wall themselves, and name them: Jun, The8, Vernon, Xiaojun, Renjun. Fans come to order what the members ordered — three brought photocards to shoot alongside the food, one found fans at the next table, and one notes a birthday café for Jun was held here. Coming for that does complicate the ordering: one writer, not good with the spicing, gave up on the members' picks and chose what she knew. Another noticed that other restaurants down the street advertise the same endorsement.
Most of the customers are Chinese. Eight writers say what they saw: that theirs was the only Korean table that day; that on walking in they heard nothing but Chinese and wondered where they were; that at half past eleven on a weekday a large local party was already eating; that of three occupied tables, two were Korean and one Chinese. For many that is the point — ten say it feels like a restaurant in China, and three of them had recently been to Dalian or Shanghai.
Some things arrive at once and some take a long time, and there is a reason. Three writers say the food came fast; three say it was slow — and all three of the slow ones are talking about the shengjianbao. One puts it exactly: what is quick here is very quick, what is slow is really slow. Another says to order it at the start and eat it last, like pudding. A third had finished both her other dishes before it appeared. They are folded and pan-fried to order. If you are pressed for time, order it the moment you sit down.
There are two price tiers. Noodles and rice bowls run ₩8,000–10,000; the cooked dishes ₩14,000–20,000. All four writers who call it good value are talking about the first tier — rice and noodles under ten thousand, that much food for under ten, three dishes for ₩27,000 and none of them over ten. The one who calls it dear is talking about the second: an October 2024 post looks at ₩14,000 for tomato and egg and asks whether that is right, and finds ₩15,000 for mapo tofu a little steep. The portions are large — eight writers say so; one reckons a single plate of noodles is one and a half to two servings, and one says two of them could not finish.
Some call it roomy and some call it snug; the writers who counted tables settle it. About six tables of four (October 2024), six or seven (May 2026), around eight (December 2025), with a larger table in the middle for parties. So: one room, neither small nor large — and the nine who say 'spacious' mostly mean the gaps between tables are generous (four of those nine come from that fortnight in July). Two note that tables can be pushed together for a group, one likes the glass frontage, and two can watch the cooking through an open kitchen. Nobody has had to queue: one found the place empty at twenty to five on a weekday, and one who had read about waits walked straight in on a weekday evening.

There is no car park. Six writers say so, and only one of them actually drove here — a June 2026 family visit, which reports that the public car park inside the lane is usually full with a wait (five minutes on foot) and that the market car park a little further out is larger and easier (six minutes), so you may as well head straight there. The other five say only 'no parking, use the public car park nearby'. Nobody gives a price.

Nobody has said whether you can get in with a wheelchair or a pushchair. One post gives the address as ground floor, so we know that much, but in twenty-eight posts not one person has looked for a step or stairs at the door. Add the lavatory being outside and we know very little. Cooling is the same: one writer, in July 2025, found the air conditioning off on a hot day and the meal harder for it — whether that was a fault or just that day, we cannot say.

Of the 28 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

Fourteen of the twenty-eight first-hand posts went up between 14 and 27 July 2026, and all fourteen ordered the same four things — tomato-and-egg noodles, disanxian, shengjianbao, cucumber salad — at the same four prices. Not one of them declares a sponsorship. The bodies are genuinely different (one notes the receipt comes in Chinese, one explains the vinegar and chilli oil on the table, one clocks the Seventeen fans at the next table), so we counted them as visits, but do not read the menu numbers as popularity. Take that fortnight out and the people who chose for themselves are: eleven for the shengjianbao, three for the disanxian, three for the cucumber, two for the noodles. The other fourteen posts are spread from October 2024 to September 2026 and order all over the map — beef noodle soup, youpo noodles, suanla fen, shuizhu pork, jingjiang pork, boiled dumplings. One separate post, from June 2026, does declare a sponsorship; two say in their titles that they paid.
The lavatory is outside the restaurant. Two writers say so — one in a single line alongside 'no parking, wi-fi yes', one plainly. Neither says where it is, how far, or whether it is locked, and in twenty-eight posts nobody describes actually using it. This in a place open from ten in the morning to ten at night, where a good many tables are drinking. Worth asking when you arrive.
Little Korean is spoken. The owner and staff are Chinese; an October 2024 post lists this as the one drawback and advises pointing at the photograph and saying 'that one'. An April 2025 post says the same. Separately, the Korean on the menu is rough — dishes called 'seething beef', 'seething fish', and strings of words that do not resolve into anything, which is why four writers tell you to order from the pictures. Even so, two writers took a staff recommendation and were glad of it, and two were warned to mind the heat. Every dish on the menu has a photograph.
It is a walk from exit 6 at Konkuk University station, and the posts do not agree how long. One says 349 metres, another 486; the times given run three, five, seven, eight and ten minutes, and one writer, finding it near the far end of the lane, calls it a fair way from the station. Ten agree on inside the lamb-skewer lane, and five say the red sign with Chinese characters is hard to miss. Allow ten minutes.
