Andong Cham Jjimdak
안동참찜닭 Andong is the city in North Gyeongsang Province that gave soy-braised chicken (jjimdak) its name, and cham means true or genuine — posts describe it as Andong-market-style jjimdak served in Seoul.

An Andong-style braised chicken shop at the mouth of Kondae Rodeo Street, right by Exit 5 of Konkuk Univ. Station. There are two dishes, bone-in Andong jjimdak and boneless jjimdak; the bone-in one is 23,000 won for a half chicken, 34,000 for a whole and 45,000 for one and a half. When you are nearly done, the kitchen fries rice in the leftover sauce (3,000 won) and brings it back shaped like a heart. We read 30 posts from May 20 to October 14, 2026; 25 describe actually eating there. One post says the shop used to be in an alley near Umaido in Hwayang-dong before moving here.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Portion size is the most common remark: 24 of the 25 visit posts say the food is plentiful. Pairs who shared a whole chicken wrote that they nearly burst, and one thought half a chicken would do for two. Many single out the glass noodles — one says you really don't need extra, and another says the owner talked them out of ordering more.
- No post describes standing in line. Three were seated straight away: around 6:30 pm on a weekday, around 7:10 pm with one table left, and around 5 pm when the room was still half-empty. One found it full at 7:30 pm on a weekday and suggests phoning ahead at peak times. Another walked in at opening and saw the room fill up 20 minutes later.
- You choose mild, medium or hot. Four posts found it gentle — three on the medium level, comparing it favorably with Shin Ramyun, and one on mild, which had no chili flakes at all. Six called it just slightly spicy. The one post that ordered hot liked the clean tingle of dried chilies but wants it hotter next time.
- The sides are pickled radish and kkakdugi. Four posts had them refilled; in one, staff came over unasked and piled on more kkakdugi.
2 more
- Three posts count the seats: seven four-person tables plus one two-top, about seven or eight tables, and room for roughly 40 people. One mentions an eight-person table. Three call the room spacious; one says it isn't very big.
- Seven posts mention a free can of soda (Pepsi or Sprite) for posting a Naver receipt review with a photo; one says it is once per table.

Four posts say the shop has no parking; one recommends a nearby paid lot at 3,000 won an hour. One post says a single car can fit out front, though that family actually parked under the Star City mall. Many more posts note how close it is to the subway.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside
| In a basement | yes 0 · no 1 (of 25 posts read) |
|---|---|
| Toilet inside | 2 of 25 posts |
Only one post mentions the floor: it is on the ground floor. A copied old address was on a second floor, but that was the previous location.
We don't know whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller gets in — nobody wrote about it. One post came with a child but didn't mention a stroller.
Two posts say the toilet is inside the restaurant, so you don't have to go out to a shared building toilet. Nobody says whether it is split by gender or how big it is.
No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 29 posts we gathered, 4 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- The shop has moved once. One post last visited when it was in the Umaido alley, and a recipe post copies an old second-floor address in Hwayang-dong. We don't know when the move happened; another post says the storefront looks just as it did years ago, so it was probably a while back. All 30 posts we read describe the current address.
- Opening hours: 21 visit posts all give 11:00 to midnight daily, but most copy the shop's listing. One saw it open with no afternoon break; none gives a last-order time. A list post quoting 2023 data says 10 pm, which we did not count.
- The phone number, 02-499-3530, appears in over twenty posts. No one says they booked; 'reservations available' only appears in copied listings, and one post suggests phoning to check for a table at peak times.
- Bone-in prices agree everywhere, but the boneless price doesn't: one post copying the menu gives 25,000 / 37,000 / 49,000 won, another says it is only 2,000 won more. Of the 16 posts calling it good value, the line about being cheaper than Andong's jjimdak alley comes from the shop's own notice.
- Read the sources with care. One post discloses sponsorship, three say they paid themselves, and 25 say nothing. More than sixteen repeat near-identical lines — 'a 40-year family tradition', the noodle packing rule for takeout, the four delivery neighborhoods — with matching hashtags. We treat those lines as the shop's own copy and did not count them.
