Gyeongcheonsatap Dure

경천사탑 두레 Gyeongcheonsa-tap is the ten-story marble pagoda from Gyeongcheonsa Temple that stands right outside the restaurant in the museum hall; dure is the old word for a village work cooperative.

Gyeongcheonsatap Dure is a Korean restaurant at the far end of the first floor of the National Museum of Korea's permanent exhibition hall in Yongsan, right behind the Gyeongcheonsa ten-story pagoda. You can't walk in from outside; you go through the bag check at the exhibition entrance. Posts list bibimbap, seolleongtang, soft-tofu stew and brisket soybean stew at 15,000 won, spicy pork and stone-pot octopus rice at 17,000, earthenware bulgogi and donkatsu at 18,000, and duck ssambap at 19,000, each served as a tray set with rice, soup and sides. We read 30 posts from November 2025 to October 2026; 15 record an actual meal. The rest only point out its location inside museum write-ups or copy the menu, and one, which ate at the museum food court instead, we set aside.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. At lunch you put your name down first. Nine posts waited; one, on a weekday, did not. The figures they wrote down: queue number 22 (February 2026); number 33 with 23 parties ahead clearing in 15 minutes (July); 25 parties and an estimated 30 minutes at 1 p.m. on a weekday (July); 67 parties and an estimated 60 minutes on a weekend lunch, actually just under an hour (August); number 55 with an estimated 20 minutes just after noon (October). You enter your number at a machine by the door and get called by KakaoTalk or text, so several posts suggest registering and touring the galleries meanwhile. Two posts walked straight in a little after 11 and found a queue by the time they left.
  2. Four posts say the food was slow once seated, three say it came quickly. Two of the slow reports, both from July 2026, timed about 30 minutes to the table. The three quick reports were posted in September and October 2026.
  3. Seven posts describe the room as large. Four mention big windows with a view or sunlight, and two of those say the blinds were down at midday because of the sun. One solo diner was led by staff to a row of five single seats along the window.
  4. Four posts ordered on a tablet at the table. One notes it offers several languages; another that payment is done there too, so there's nothing to settle on the way out.

  1. Nine posts went with family, three with friends, one alone. Six ate with children, and two mention high chairs.
  2. Four posts found the food not spicy; two were in between, calling it mildly hot or noting a companion found it a bit hot. One post says the soft-tofu stew carried a spicy mark but they couldn't taste any heat.
  3. Four posts found it not salty; one said the soft-tofu stew was salty enough to make them choke.
  4. Two posts walked from Ichon Station to the museum and say the route is signposted from the platform.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 5 (of 15 posts read)

Five posts place it on the first floor at the far end of the exhibition hall, behind the pagoda. None mentions going up or down a level.

Nobody wrote about a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. Mentions of museum elevators and stroller or wheelchair rental are copied from museum guides, not observations of the restaurant door. That means unrecorded, not absent.

No post says whether there is a restroom inside the restaurant or whether it is split by gender. Museum write-ups mention restrooms on each floor, but not the restaurant's.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 29 posts we gathered, 14 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2026-10-162 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Opinions on price split. Three posts call it expensive, one says it's not too steep, and two don't settle it: pricey against the city average but cheap for Ichon-dong, or underwhelming for 17,000 won. A meal is listed at 15,000 to 19,000 won.
  • Opening hours differ from post to post. Six of the posts with a meal give hours: opening at 9:30, 10:00 or 11:00, closing at 17:20 or 17:30. Two say it stays open to 20:20 or 20:30 on Wednesdays and Saturdays, one says only Saturdays, and one mentions a separate breakfast window. Most of these are copied from map listings or info boxes; beyond closing on museum holidays, check before you go.
  • Four posts give the same phone number, 02-790-2919. None says whether you can reserve by phone; everyone who joined the queue used the machine at the door.
  • One post full of praise like 'refined Korean cuisine' but with no dish names or prices was not counted as a meal. The house history (roots in Miryang, a hanjeongsik restaurant in Insa-dong, no MSG) is the restaurant's own story, repeated by bloggers, and we don't treat it as evidence.
