Fren Haus

프랜하우스 Peuraenhauseu Haus is German for house; no post explains the 'Fren' part of the name.

Compiled from 30 blog posts read in fullSources →

Fren Haus is a brunch-and-wine bar in an alley at the foot of Haebangchon, at Sinheung-ro 3ga-gil 2 in Yongsan, Seoul. Posts say it opened around June 2026 in the space formerly occupied by the bakery cafe Harbor Brown. By day people eat French toast (12,000 won) or egg avocado toast (16,000 won); in the evening, foie gras cream pasta (24,000 won) or boeuf bourguignon (32,000 won) with wine, and several posts note you can order just coffee or just wine. Three posts say you order and pay first at the counter. We read 30 posts dated 15 June to 25 October 2026, all from actual visits; four disclose support from the venue and one received its wine as part of a reviewer programme.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. The terrace is what people come for: 28 of 30 posts mention it, and many describe one wall of glass and one side fully open so the room feels outdoors. It is seasonal, though — July and August posts found it closed or too hot to sit in, and a post from a September Friday evening warns of mosquitoes coming through the open side.
  2. Most walk from Noksapyeong station. The seven posts that describe the walk give 5–10 to 15 minutes, and one says the hill makes it hard going. It sits low on the slope, well below Sinheung Market, and one post suggests the Yongsan 02 village bus as a quicker option.
  3. Who people went with: six with a partner, six with friends, three alone, one with family. Two of the solo visits were for a glass of wine and say the room felt comfortable on their own.
  4. For a menu heavy on cream and oil, seven posts say the food was not heavy — pointing to the chili oil on the avocado toast and anchovy pasta, and a touch of acidity in the foie gras cream pasta.

The prices here are what bloggers wrote down in their posts, and they may have changed since. Check Naver Place for the current menu and prices. This list is not a menu board — it counts what bloggers actually ordered and ate. Check on Naver Place

Parking

3 posts say you cannot park. None say you can.

Posts saying you cannot3 of 30 posts

Three posts say there is no parking of its own. The two who drove used the Haebangchon public car park (3,000 won an hour) or got lucky with a space in the alley. Two copied info blocks claim parking is available on request, which conflicts — call ahead if you plan to drive.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 15 (of 30 posts read)
Lift to the floor6 of 30 posts
Toilet inside3 of 30 posts

Posts disagree on the floor: 12 call it the first floor, 3 the second. They agree on the layout — the half-basement door at the front leads to a different cafe, and Fren Haus is one level up, reached by walking round to the right-hand side and up a few steps or by the lift at the front. One post calls it 'a first floor that feels like a second'. All 15 posts that place it agree it is not underground.

No one says whether there is a step at the door or whether they got in with a wheelchair or pushchair. Six posts mention a lift, but the side entrance is up a flight of steps, and we do not know whether the route from the lift to the door is step-free. That is a gap in the posts, not a confirmation that there is a barrier.

Three posts say from experience that the toilet is inside the restaurant and clean. One post's copied info block says 'outside toilet, unisex', which conflicts; we do not rely on copied blocks. Whether there are separate men's and women's toilets, no visitor says.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • No one reports queuing. Two posts say there was no wait (a September Friday evening and a quiet June afternoon), but an October post found it full and recommends booking, and a July post found it nearly full right at opening. Three posts booked ahead or say from experience that booking is possible. How long you would wait for a table without one, we do not know.
  • Prices stayed the same from June to October: French toast 12,000 won, egg avocado toast 16,000, pasta 19,000–24,000, boeuf bourguignon 32,000, a glass of wine 10,000, Red Rock draught 6,000. Three posts call it good value for Haebangchon. Five say portions are generous; the two that disagree were both about the truffle risotto. No post totals what a meal for two cost.
  • Opening hours changed between late June and July: nine June posts give 12:00–24:00, and the seventeen posts from 25 July on give 12:00–23:00. Every post agrees it closes on Tuesdays, and two say there is no afternoon break. All of these are copied listings; no one reports the closing time first-hand.
  • Eleven posts give the phone number as 0507-1365-1177; one gives 010-7145-1177. Some copied listings say bookings are taken through Naver Booking and Catch Table.
  • Nearly every post says pets are welcome, but almost all are repeating the venue's listing or a sign at the door. Only one post actually saw dogs inside.
  • Promotional posts are mixed in: four disclose venue support (three in June, one in September), one received its wine through a reviewer programme, and two June posts share an identical run of 18 hashtags, only one of which discloses support. Both describe different meals, so we counted them. Two posts show a receipt as proof they paid.
