Bar

Cove Bar

코브 바 Kobeu Ba Cove is the English word for a small sheltered bay or nook; one visitor said the dark, cave-like interior with its curved walls suits the name.

Compiled from 22 blog posts read in fullSources →

Cove Bar is a cocktail bar on the third floor of a white building beside Sinheung Market in Haebangchon, across from Noop Cafe. It has outdoor seating facing Namsan Tower plus an indoor bar counter and a sofa table; the menu is a QR code on the table. Signature cocktails were 25,000 won and classics 18,000–20,000 won, with lasagna, sausages and a butter bar to eat. A March 2025 post said terrace tables were coming 'soon'; posts from June on sat outside. We read 23 posts from October 2024 to October 2026, 22 of them actual visits (the other is a list of new business licences).

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. People come for the outdoor seats. Of the 22 visits, 15 described them as a 'rooftop' and 7 as a 'terrace'. Two posts counted the rooftop tables differently, about seven versus five. Posts that arrived at 7:30 pm, 8 pm on a Friday and 9 pm on a Saturday found the outside full, and in March and late October people took blankets or retreated indoors.
  2. Water and a small snack come free when you sit down — 11 posts said so: crackers, Ivy crackers, a banana-puff-like snack, and in March 2025 salty potato chips. One post from September 2026 disagreed, wishing there had been a snack at all. Several people ordered no food and made do with it.
  3. Nine posts called it quiet — good for talking, with music at a conversational volume. None said it was loud.
  4. Six posts mentioned booking: it is on CatchTable, one post found most of the good outdoor seats reserved, and another booked the bar and switched to the rooftop on the night.
3 more
  1. Six posts described getting there by transit: a 10-minute walk from exit 2 of Noksapyeong Station, the Yongsan 02 village bus from Noksapyeong, or bus 402 from Hannam to Boseong Girls' School stop and a 3-minute walk. One person who walked up from Sookmyung Women's University Station said it left them out of breath and recommended the bus.
  2. Eight posts went with friends and six with a partner or husband; one went alone and one with a sister. Several noticed the room was mostly couples.
  3. Four posts praised the staff: water topped up unasked, an off-menu Manhattan made gladly, recommendations by taste. One post said drinks were set down without explanation, and another felt it was a one-person operation and food was slow.

Where it is

Map showing where Cove Bar is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

From the station

Six posts described getting there by transit: a 10-minute walk from exit 2 of Noksapyeong Station, the Yongsan 02 village bus from Noksapyeong, or bus 402 from Hannam to Boseong Girls' School stop and a 3-minute walk. One person who walked up from Sookmyung Women's University Station said it left them out of breath and recommended the bus.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 8 (of 22 posts read)
Toilet inside1 of 22 posts

It is on the third floor. Eight posts said they went up to the third floor, three of them explicitly by the stairs. Several warned the sign is small and easy to miss; the door reads COVE.

We do not know whether a wheelchair or pushchair can get in. Three posts climbed stairs to the third floor and several describe steps up from the lane; no one said whether there is a lift — not that there isn't one, just that nobody wrote it.

Only one post mentioned the toilet: inside the bar and very clean. Nobody said whether it is separated by sex or how big it is.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 23 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • The outdoor seats were not there from day one. A sponsored post from March 2025 drank at the bar looking out the window and said terrace tables were coming soon; from June 2025 posts sat outside or found it full.
  • No one wrote about queuing. One post arrived ten minutes before weekend opening and waited on the stairs; others arriving later found the outside full and took the bar. We do not know of any waiting area.
  • Eighteen posts gave opening hours, all copied from the listing. Most say Tuesday–Friday 7 pm–2 am, Saturday–Sunday 6 pm–1 am, closed Mondays, with last orders at 1:30 am and 12:30 am in three posts. One post gave weekends from 7 pm, one had weekends closing at 10 pm, and an August 2025 post listed Tuesday–Sunday 7 pm–2 am.
  • Prices were given per glass; only one post gave a bill — 71,000 won for a snack, a whisky and a cocktail — calling it not cheap but worth it for the seat. Another said cocktails in the high teens of thousands of won felt reasonable, so the two posts that judged the price split one to one.
  • Six posts copied the phone number 0507-1416-0679. Bookings mentioned were made on CatchTable; no one described booking by phone.
  • One post, from March 2025, disclosed sponsorship and two said they paid their own way; the rest said nothing. Two May 2026 posts read like keyword-heavy promotion with little first-hand detail, though neither is marked as sponsored.
