Taeseong Golbaengi Sinsa's Yeouido branch is an open-air drinking house a few minutes' walk from exit 1 at Saetgang, in the eating lane behind the KBS annexe. The registered name is the long one; the sign and the customers shorten it to Taeseong Golbaengi. Blue round tables run down the pavement outside, and there is an indoor room as well. It belongs to a chain whose original house is in Euljiro, so several places in Seoul carry this name. Dressed whelks and old-style fried chicken hold the menu up, and both the prices and the crowd are pitched at Yeouido office workers after work. Three in the afternoon until one in the morning on weekdays, four until midnight on Saturday, closed Sunday. The posts we read run from March 2025 to September 2026.

What sets it apart
- People come here for the pavement, and they say so. It is quicker to count the visitors who do not mention the outdoor tables than those who do; several open their posts by announcing that the season for drinking outside has arrived, and one writes plainly that the food is not the point, the street is. The tables go out at six in the evening — that comes from a writer who arrived at five and missed them. When the outside fills, you are shown inside, and several note the indoor room is big enough to seat you at once. One caution: a writer at a fully exposed table found cigarette smoke drifting over, and noticed that the far end is hard for staff to see. And the shop does not hold the street alone — the pub next door, a fried-chicken house and two more line up their own tables beside it, so the whole lane is the terrace.
- It is a whelk house, and the talk is all about the chicken. The shellfish is in the name and on the sign, yet more of these writers ordered the bird than the whelks. The same sentence keeps reappearing in different handwriting: came for the whelks, stayed for the chicken; the sign undersells it; I do not even like fried chicken and this was good. It is the old thin-batter style, brined through so that four writers found it needed neither the salt nor the sauce, and two caught a quiet chilli heat in it. Three call the portion small for a whole bird, so do not plan a meal around it. The whelks, meanwhile, divide people — two liken the dressing to tteokbokki sauce, one delighted, the other missing the cleaner Euljiro version.
- The name alone will send you to the wrong shop. This is a chain out of Euljiro with several Seoul branches, and of the thirty posts we collected under this name, five turned out to be other branches — four at Yeongdeungpo station, one beside the Jongno district office. They are not merely namesakes; they are different places. The Yeongdeungpo branch pours draught beer, takes orders on a tablet at each table, uses two floors and has separate lavatories upstairs. Yeouido does none of those: bottles only, orders to a person, one floor. And the same ground floor of the same building holds a second, unrelated whelk house. Match the street number, and check the phone number, before you set off.

Getting inside
Wheelchairs, prams, ramps and thresholds appear nowhere in these twenty posts — not once, which means we do not know whether you can get in. Two things can be read off the posts all the same. First, most of the seating is outdoor tables on the pavement in front of the shop, so there are seats you reach without passing through a doorway. Second, those tables go out at six and start filling by seven. Whether there is a step at the door, and whether the ground outside is level, nobody wrote down, so you will have to look for yourself.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- There is no list to put your name on. No ticket, no app: you stand outside, and when a table clears a member of staff calls for whoever arrived first. Two writers describe it. You do not leave a phone number, so you have to be standing there — one notes that if you have wandered off, your turn passes to the next group. The timings agree across posts: at six on a weekday there are tables, by seven they are filling, by eight it is full; another writer found half the outdoor tables gone at half past six and a queue forming an hour later; a third was first in line for the pavement and still waited half an hour, because the party ahead was in no hurry. Only the outdoor tables jam, though — two writers walked straight into the indoor room, and on a wet weekday evening in June 2025 there were empty tables inside.
- No draught beer. An open-air drinking house that sells bottles only. Five writers say so and three of them mind: it looks like a beer hall, they write, and then there is no tap. The bottle list is long by way of compensation — Terra, Heineken, Tsingtao, Guinness, a Krombacher weizen, and an alcohol-free bottle — and one writer was told by staff that the pub next door pours draught and sends its food orders to this same kitchen. One post disagrees: a July 2026 writer says they ordered a cold draught. It stands against five others and gives no drink price, so we could not settle which is true now.
- No one here describes the lavatory from their own eyes. One post does say it is inside the building — but that line sits in a row with "booking / groups / takeaway", lifted whole off the shop's Naver listing, and the writer never mentions going. We have not counted it. That is not the same as saying there is none; it means nobody wrote about it. Whether it is separated by sex, and whether it is in the shop or off a corridor, no one says. A post about the Yeongdeungpo branch of this chain describes separate lavatories upstairs — that is a different shop.
- Nor does anyone write about floors or stairs. The registry and every checked-in address put the shop on the ground floor of the building, units 107 and 108, and the writers copy that line — but it is an address, not something anyone looked at. Not one says whether there are steps. Do not mix the branches here either: the Yeongdeungpo shop uses two floors and sends larger parties upstairs. No Yeouido post mentions an upstairs at all.
- We could not confirm whether you can book. Two posts say reservations are possible; both lines are copied from the shop's listing, and no one here actually booked. What the posts do describe points the other way: no ticket, no list, people standing outside in the order they arrived and being called in that order. If you are bringing a group, ring 02-782-1973 first.
- Prices moved over the year we read. A small dish of whelks is ₩26,000 in a June 2025 post and ₩28,000 in all five posts from May 2026 onward; the chicken went from ₩21,000 to ₩22,000. A December 2025 writer posts a photograph of the menu with a warning attached: this is the 2024 board, everything is a thousand or two higher now, use it for the names only. Four writers call the place expensive, three of them blaming the postcode. One thing to know before you sit down: the noodles do not come with the whelks — they are ₩3,000 on top, say two writers, though a third (July 2026) insists they arrive together. A customer who knows the Euljiro whelk alley grumbles that there the noodles and an omelette are simply part of the order. The chicken price splits too: two July 2026 posts give ₩22,000 and ₩25,000, and we could not tell which holds now.
