Saraitne, Yeouido Jigyeong-1-hojeom
살아있네 여의도 직영1호점 Saraitne means roughly "it's alive" — the fish come out of the tanks by the door. This is the Yeouido branch, the first directly-run offshoot of the original in Yongsan, where every seat is in a private room and the wild fish arrives from Tongyeong twice a week.

Saraitne's Yeouido branch is a raw-fish house on the second floor of the Taeyang Building, between Saetgang station and Yeouido station, reached by lift. There is no dining room — every seat is in a private room, each named after a port town, and you keep your shoes on. What they sell is wild fish brought up from Tongyeong twice a week, so instead of the usual flounder and rockfish you get names most Koreans have never eaten: redspotted grouper, tiny pufferfish, stingfish. Every slice arrives flagged with a small card naming and drawing the fish it came from. This is the second branch after the original in Yongsan and it opened in July 2026, so everything we read runs only from 23 July to 24 September 2026.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Every seat being in a room is not a feature here, it is the floor plan. Sliding doors down a corridor and no open dining room at all. There are rooms for two, four, six and eight; two posts say the partitions open up for thirty to fifty, and one puts the maximum at eighty with private hire from fifty. That is why more than twenty of the posts are about engagement lunches, seventieth-birthday parties, work dinners and entertaining clients. The rooms are named for port towns — Sokcho, Busan, Pohang, Yeosu, Donghae. Two writers saw the raised step at the door, assumed shoes off, and were told to keep them on: you sit on chairs, not on the floor.
- That the room shuts out the next table is the single most repeated compliment here. One writer says the opposite. In a post that lists strengths and weaknesses separately, he puts the soundproofing among five drawbacks — along with the setback from the main road, the age of the building and the shared toilet. Having a room and having a quiet room are different things, and he is the only person who drew that distinction, so how much carries through the walls, we cannot say.
- The shop runs a standing trade of perks for reviews. Follow it on the Korean map app, eat, post a receipt review, and one bottle of corkage is waived — normally ₩20,000 a bottle, one bottle maximum, any kind of drink. Add it on the messenger app and you get a flask of sake or a plate of fritters. Two posts add that ordering the Okinawan draught waives corkage too. This is worth reading two ways: it is a real saving if you were going to bring a bottle, and it is also the reason the praise in these posts runs so evenly. Booking is through a reservation app; the phone number, 0507-1350-3808, appears identically across several posts. The pufferfish course has to be booked in advance.
- Post after post reaches for the same phrase: no fishy smell at all. The explanation offered is that the fish comes out of the tank and onto the board, and more than ten writers say the first thing you see on walking in is a wall of tanks. Two describe a ranking board at the entrance that sorts the catch into tiers — roughly heavenly, connoisseur, regulars' pride, wise choice, old friend — with the everyday rockfish and flounder at the bottom. One writer checked on the way out where the fish he had eaten sat on it.
- Each room has a tablet or kiosk, so you order without calling anyone; one writer refilled the free side dishes the same way. Several liked being able to scroll the photographs at their own pace, and one who had pre-booked the puffer course used the tablet only for drinks. Conversely, all five posts that mention the staff at all speak well of them — one was met at a confusing entrance and walked to his room, another was told he could keep his shoes on before he had to ask.
- Five to eight minutes on foot from exit 2 at Saetgang (lines 9 and Sillim), about ten from Yeouido (lines 5 and 9) — the figures differ post to post, so allow the longer one. It is near the KBS annexe, on the second floor of the Taeyang Building, and four writers advise going into the building for the lift rather than hunting for a sign at street level. One lists the setback from the main road as a drawback. IFC Mall and The Hyundai Seoul are a ten to fifteen minute walk, which three writers built into a day out.

Nobody wrote about getting in with a wheelchair or a pushchair. Across all thirty posts the words wheelchair, pushchair, ramp, threshold and step never appear once. What the posts do establish is that the restaurant is on the second floor and you go up by lift, that the rooms have a raised step at the door but you keep your shoes on, and that you sit on chairs. Whether there is a step between the lift and the door, or the door and the room, we do not know — and we are not going to guess.
No one mentioned: In a basement · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know
- Almost everything written about this place was written in the two months after it opened, and nine of those posts declare that the meal, a fee, or both were provided. Only two state they paid their own way; the other nineteen say nothing. But a good many of those nineteen are repeating the same press kit — the claim to be the only place in Seoul carrying sixty-plus wild species, the twice-weekly delivery from Tongyeong, a July 2026 restaurant-app top-fifty listing, a TV appearance, and two standing offers (free corkage for a receipt review, a free flask or plate of fritters for adding the shop on a messenger app) turn up in post after post in near-identical words. We still counted all of them, because what separates a real visit from a written-to-order one is the record of eating, and twenty-nine of the thirty list the exact fish they were served that day — a different set every time. That part cannot be copied. What you should know going in is that the praise is nearly unanimous and exactly one writer recorded anything he disliked.
- Only two writers mention the toilets and they noticed different things. One, listing what he disliked, calls it a shared toilet — meaning the building's, not the restaurant's. The other was pleased to find separate men's and women's. A third post carries the line about separate facilities, but it sits inside a block of copied listing data, so we did not count it. Two first-hand accounts, and we cannot even be sure they are describing the same room.
- The opening hours changed after the place opened. Six posts from July 2026 give a close of 23:30 with last orders at 22:30 (one says 23:00); twelve posts from late August and September give weekdays 11:00–22:50 with last orders at 21:50, and weekends 11:30–21:30 with last orders at 20:30. It reads as a change rather than a disagreement, but not one writer says it changed. The afternoon break, 14:00–16:30, holds steady across both months, and two posts note there is no break at weekends. One says there is no regular closing day. If you are going late, ring first.
- Nobody reports waiting — one post mentions queues at all, and only to write "no wait" in a summary line. With every seat in a bookable room it is not the kind of place that forms a queue, but whether you can walk in without a reservation, nobody says. Seven writers booked, all through the same reservation app. Some other things nobody wrote down: high chairs and baby-changing (one family brought a child, and all we learn is that the child was given a fish cutlet), wi-fi, and any smoking area. Two posts say pets are not allowed, but both are copying the listing.
