MODAM URBAN

모담 어반 Modam Eoban Eoban is the English word 'urban' written in Hangul; the posts give no meaning for Modam, the brand name it shares with Modam Dining branches in Gwanghwamun, Magok and Itaewon.

Compiled from 21 blog posts read in fullSources →

Modam Urban is a modern Korean restaurant on L3 — the third basement level — of the IFC Mall food floor in Yeouido. Mains run 23,900 to 39,000 won; the most-ordered are the 29,900-won crisp bulgogi, barley cream risotto and beef yukhoe bibimbap. Every main brings six free starters (mung-bean porridge, yuzu salad, mushroom pyeonyuk, spicy mushroom gangjeong, smoked-duck salad, perilla-oil capellini) plus rice, soup, side dishes and a milk pudding. There are private rooms and two set courses (55,000 and 72,000 won per person), and many posts describe family gatherings. We read 30 posts from October 2024 to October 2026; 21 describe a visit, 18 of them from September–October 2026. The three 2024 posts call it Modam Dining, and a January 2025 menu listed dishes such as cold octopus noodles and truffle pot rice that no longer appear.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. The starters do the filling. Six posts say they were full before the mains arrived; one was mixed — stuffed overall, but the mushroom gangjeong portion was tiny. One catch: starters follow the number of mains ordered, not the number of people. A party of four who ordered three mains and one sharing dish found the starters hard to split, and another post says a single gangjeong was cut into three.
  2. Fourteen posts saw the private rooms themselves, on the right as you enter; one notes they are for groups of six or more. The main hall is partitioned too: one post says a large screen beside the table blocks the gaze of people walking the open mall corridor, and another was seated in a divided booth for a party of four.
  3. Of five posts that mention waiting, four sat down right away — a weekday dinner, a reserved 1 p.m. weekend lunch, a weekday walk-in lunch and a reserved weekend lunch. The fifth, a regular at weekday lunch, says there was a queue every time at lunch. Five posts booked or saw the reservation list filling up (Naver booking, CatchTable).
  4. Food comes fast. Two posts say so — starters arrived soon after ordering, and in the other the mains landed before the starters were finished, so they asked the kitchen to slow down. That post suggests asking for pacing when you order.

  1. Even the cream risotto is not described as heavy. Six posts say the food was not greasy, five of them about the barley risotto, crediting the tart courgette pickle on top. One post found the smoked-duck salad's fat congealed on the greens. Six posts also say the seasoning was not salty.
  2. Family meals lead with six posts, then four with a spouse or partner, one with a friend and one with colleagues. Two brought small children — one says a 31-month-old ate the porridge happily, the other shared the mild bulgogi and risotto with a child. High chairs appear only in copied info blocks; nobody says they used one.
  3. One post describes the walk from the station: from Yeouido Station exit 3 an underground moving walkway leads into the mall, so rain is no problem. The '436 m from exit 3' line in other posts is copied info.

Posts saying you can park1 of 21 posts

Parking is in the IFC Mall underground garage. One post describes parking there and taking the elevator up to L3. The terms quoted elsewhere — first 30 minutes free, 1,000 won per 10 minutes, up to five free hours depending on spend, three hours for diners here — are copied info we did not count.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

From the station

One post describes the walk from the station: from Yeouido Station exit 3 an underground moving walkway leads into the mall, so rain is no problem. The '436 m from exit 3' line in other posts is copied info.

Getting inside

In a basement3 of 21 posts
Lift to the floor1 of 21 posts

The 'L3' in the address is not the third floor up but the mall's lowest level, three floors underground. Three posts describe going down to it — right in front of the B3 escalator, as one puts it. Another says it is visible as you step off the escalator, opposite Sundae Sillok.

No one describes the entrance step or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. 'Wheelchair accessible' shows up only in three copied info blocks. Since the restaurant is three levels underground, you reach it by mall elevator or escalator — one post took the elevator up from the garage — but we know nothing about the restaurant's own doorway.

We don't know about the restrooms. 'Restroom across the way' (one post) and 'separate men's and women's' (three posts) are copied info; no one says from experience whether they are inside the restaurant or shared mall facilities. That is a gap in the posts, not a sign there are none.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 27 posts we gathered, 6 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Service splits three to three. Three posts praise friendly, polished staff. Against that: one diner stood unattended at the entrance; another's mother booked the wedding-meeting set by phone, but it never got recorded; and a November 2024 post calls the floor manager unfriendly. If you book by phone, confirm the menu and party size. Seven posts give the same number, 02-6137-5186.
  • Views on price depend on when people went. Five 2026 posts say it isn't expensive, since six starters and dessert come with each main. One was mixed, calling it pricey for an everyday weekday lunch. Only a November 2024 post, from when it was still Modam Dining, calls it much pricier than the place next door; we can't tell whether prices were the same then. Three posts say two mains for two came to 59,800 won. One post gives the croaker dish as 33,000 won instead of 38,000.
  • Fourteen posts list the same hours — daily 11:00 to 22:00, last order 20:30 — but all copied from info blocks. None mentions a break time; one copied a note that weekday-lunch reservations are for rooms only. The 2024 posts give no hours.
  • Of the 18 visit posts from September–October 2026, twelve repeat the same search phrases ('Yeouido wedding-meeting hanjeongsik', 'Yeouido group-dinner hanjeongsik') and end with the same place link. They look like a commissioned batch, though none discloses sponsorship. Three posts say they paid their own way. That batch may be inflating the positive counts.
  • The name and menu have changed. The three posts from October–December 2024 call it Modam Dining; 2026 posts call it Modam Urban, and one notes CatchTable lists it as 'Modam Dining Urban Yeouido IFC Mall'. A January 2025 passer-by saw cold octopus noodles, truffle pot rice and abalone perilla-oil noodles on the menu; none appear on 2026 menus. We have no posts in between, so we can't date the change.
