Kusa's West Yeouido branch serves Japanese home-style set meals from a basement arcade under an officetel building on Eunhaeng-ro. You pick one main and the rest of the tray comes with it: rice, miso soup, salad, pickled radish, agedashi tofu, a steamed egg-and-tofu custard, and a plum pudding to finish. This is a set-meal house, not a place that sells dishes one at a time. Most mains — fried chicken nanbanzuke, the rolled cheese katsu, the aubergine rice bowl, salmon nanbanzuke, ginger pork — sit around ten thousand won; the raw salmon bowl a little above that, the eel bowl at ₩22,000. Weekdays 11:00–20:00 with the kitchen shut between 14:00 and 17:00, and closed Saturday and Sunday. Office workers walk over from the offices at the western end of Yeouido at midday, so arriving around noon means queueing. The posts we read run from October 2024 to September 2026.

What sets it apart
- That the portions run small is the most repeated thing about this place. Writers put it as a little short, as not quite filling, as leaving an odd hollow feeling; one passes on that the well-built senior colleague she came with was still hungry. Only one dissents — a regular who says it looks light and is not in fact large, yet somehow fills her up by the end. The common thread is that the tray is crowded but the total is modest: many small dishes, not much food. The remedy is in the posts too: add a side. Two croquettes cost ₩3,000, four pieces of karaage ₩5,000.
- At lunch you queue. One writer arrived at 11:30 to a full room and waited fifteen to twenty minutes; another found a line already formed at 11:40; a third ran over the moment the lunch bell went and still waited ten. One says there has been a wait every single time she has come. Only one post got straight in, and calls it luck. There is nowhere to wait — as one writer puts it, you stand outside the door. But a member of staff takes your order while you stand there, so the food lands as you sit down: two separate posts single this out as the thing that makes the place work on a tight lunch hour. On seating, one writer reports tables for two and four that can be pushed together — though not, she adds, during the lunch rush.
- You go down to find it. There is no street frontage: you enter through the building's commercial and office door, take the stairs behind the basement directory, and turn right then left. One writer documents that walk photograph by photograph and recommends the stairs over anything else. Coming from the National Assembly station side, it sits at the far end of the West Yeouido lunch strip — one post notes an extra road to cross. Several other restaurants share the same basement and the same street address: three of them turn up in the posts we read. Look for the sign, not the number.
- Do not trust the price you see online. An August 2026 visitor found the shop charging between one and three thousand won more than the listing said. The posts disagree with each other as well: the raw salmon bowl was ₩11,000 in October 2024, ₩13,000 on a menu board photographed a year later, and ₩14,000 by August 2026; the karaage went from ₩4,000 to ₩5,000, the chicken nanbanzuke from ₩11,000 to ₩12,000. An April 2026 writer simply noted that everything had gone up since last time. Three prices moved in two years, so the figures below are what was written when, not what it costs today.
- One post says the rice, soup, salad and pickles can be refilled. It comes from a regular, and no other post mentions it. In a place this many people found too small a meal, that would matter — but it is one person, once, and even she phrases it as something she was told rather than something she asked for. Nobody in the posts we read records actually requesting a refill.

No post says whether you can get in with a wheelchair or a pushchair. Not a word about a step at the door, a ramp, or a lift — and this is a basement shop. One writer documents the way in photograph by photograph, but even she ends on a recommendation to take the stairs, which leaves open whether there is a lift she was skipping or no lift at all. Nor did anyone copy across one of those accessible-facilities lists. So this is not a no, it is a blank in our reading.

What we do not know
- Not one post mentions the lavatory — whether it is inside the shop, shared with the rest of the basement arcade, or separate for men and women. Several of these writers itemised every small dish on the tray and photographed the way in, and still none of them had reason to say. They are mostly people eating inside a one-hour lunch break.
- No post says how long it takes from a station. Several place it near the National Assembly stop, but none of them counts the minutes — they are people walking over from offices nearby, who had no reason to. One does note that it sits at the far end of the West Yeouido lunch strip with one more road to cross, and another describes walking down from the station towards the river park. How far it is from the underground for a first-time visitor, we cannot tell you.
- No post declares a sponsorship. We read the bodies and the hashtag blocks at the bottom and found no disclosure of anything received. Four writers state that they paid themselves, one says she used a company card, and the remaining eight say nothing either way. There is no cluster of near-identical posts filed on one day, and all thirteen are by different people. Four of the seventeen candidates were not about this shop and were removed: an aquarium post caught by an aquatic plant whose name contains Kusa, the brand blog of a sauna maker called Kusa, a review of a different katsu place that merely links to Kusa, and a diary whose Kusa check-in gives a street address that is not ours.
- There are two Kusa branches in Yeouido. Ours is the western one, on Eunhaeng-ro; the other sits across the island. One of our posts is by a regular who uses both, so from that post we counted only what holds for either branch — the basement, the composition of the set, the size of the meal — and not the queue or the state of the room. Which branch each of her dishes came from, we cannot say. The opening hours contain one contradiction: several posts give the afternoon closure as 14:00–17:00, but four of them say in the same breath that dinner begins at 17:30. Turning up at five may mean another half-hour. One post puts last orders at 19:50; with only one saying so, we did not record it.
