Sushi Jeongin is a sushi omakase counter in a converted house at the far end of Yeonnam-dong, by the Yeonhui underpass. It runs on reservations only, with two lunch seatings (noon and 1:30 pm) and dinner. We read 30 posts dated June 23 to October 13, 2026; 29 describe an actual meal (26 lunch, 3 dinner). Most give 90,000 won for lunch and 160,000 won for dinner. Nearly every lunch post records the same sequence: chawanmushi and three-day-aged flounder, nigiri from red sea bream to sea eel, then monkfish fritter, miso soup, udon, tamago and house matcha ice cream. Most sat at the roughly ten-seat counter facing the chef; 16 posts mention private rooms at the back.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.
What sets it apart
- Sixteen posts say the portions are large. One counted 17 pieces of nigiri plus seven fried and dessert courses and wrote that they nearly burst; others counted 22 and 23 items in a single lunch. Several asked for smaller rice portions from the start, and some say the chef asked about rice size up front.
- Fourteen posts say the fish had no fishy taste, mostly about oily fish like mackerel, herring and gizzard shad. One post disagrees: an October visitor called the gizzard shad the worst piece of the day and found it very fishy.
- Sixteen posts mention private rooms behind the counter. Several describe two four-person rooms that open into one for up to eight. No post actually sat in a room; all were at the counter and saw the rooms in passing.
- Sixteen posts say they booked ahead (Catch Table or Naver). Several arrived early and waited outside until the door opened at the booked time. Two posts note there is no waiting area and advise arriving on the dot.
3 more
- Eight posts went on foot or by bus. Walking from Hongik Univ. station along the Gyeongui Line Forest Park took about 15 minutes; one took a bus from Gajwa station for two or three minutes; another took village bus 05 and got off near the Yeonnam-dong community centre.
- Three posts say the chef lived in the US for a long time, and two say he explains in English. Two posts mention foreign guests at the counter, a group from Canada and a foreign family. One post found his Korean limited and conversation hard.
- Four posts went alone, four as a couple, three with family and two with friends. Many went for a birthday or anniversary.

Parking
1 posts say you cannot park. None say you can.

Only one post reports parking first-hand: on a Friday evening the public lot was full, so they used the nearby Dongjin car park and walked. Two posts went by car. The 'no parking, use the public lot' line in many posts is copied from listings.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.
From the station
8 posts say it is walkable from the station.
Getting inside
| Second floor | 2 of 29 posts |
|---|---|
| Step at the entrance | 4 of 29 posts |
No post mentions a basement; the only floor information is the stairs and second-floor remarks above.
The address says ground floor, but four posts describe climbing stairs to the door, one saying it is half a flight up from the street. Two posts call it a second-floor shop.
No post mentions a wheelchair, stroller, ramp or lift; four mention stairs at the entrance. This means nobody wrote about it, not that access is impossible.
No post says where the toilet is or whether it is separated by gender. We don't know.
No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 30 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Opinions on price split evenly: four posts say it is not cheap, four say it is generous for the money. The figures vary too. A July regular noted a 10,000-won rise since an earlier visit; a September post, written well after its visit, gave 80,000/150,000 won and said prices had just gone up by 10,000 won. Another July regular wrote that dinner now runs into the 200,000s, without saying whether drinks were included. The 30,000-won corkage fee is copied from the house's own notice.
- All opening hours are copied from listings. Most give 12:00-21:30 with a 15:00-18:00 break and Mondays closed; eight say Sunday is 12:00-15:00, and two give 12:00-18:00. In practice service follows the booking slots (lunch at 12:00 and 13:30, dinner 18:00-19:30); no post reports first-hand how late they seat.
- Several posts list the phone number 0507-1364-4924. Some copy a note that same-day reservations are by phone, and several mention a 50% deposit (one says 30,000 won per person). One post booked a same-day dinner a few hours ahead.
- No post describes queuing. That is because everyone had a booking; nobody wrote about turning up without one.
- 'No kids' appears only in copied listings; no post went with children.
- Several mid-September posts share the same info block and identical sentences about the fish, which looks like wording supplied by the house, though none discloses sponsorship. Where fish came from and how long it was aged is what the chef told diners, so we don't rely on it. One September post lists a completely different menu (wagyu, fried oysters, 95,000-won lunch) and we did not count it as a visit.
