Cafe

Jakdangmoui

작당모의 Jakdang-moui is a Korean idiom for a group huddling to plot something together, literally 'forming a band and holding a secret council'.

Compiled from 14 blog posts read in fullSources →

Jakdangmoui is a dessert café on a side street of Donggyo-ro 32-gil in Yeonnam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul. The menu centres on tiramisu, dacquoise and dessert plates topped with whatever fruit is in season: peach in the July–August visits, fig in September. Several writers described the routine: order downstairs, take a number card up to a seat, staff bring the order, and you return only the card on the way out. Prices in the posts: americano 5,800 won, tiramisu 12,000 won, dacquoise and plates 10,500 won. We read 30 posts dated 7 August to 9 October 2026; 17 describe an actual visit. Seven were set aside because they were about the Seongsu branch or used the name only as an ordinary word.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Waiting depends on timing. Two posts waited: one put their name down around 2 p.m. and got in after roughly 20–30 minutes, the other had a friend join the waitlist in advance. One visit at 3:30 on a Sunday found free seats, and two writers who had queued on earlier visits walked straight in this time, on a weekend evening at 7 and on the eve of a holiday.
  2. There is a two-hour limit. Two posts mention it, and one writer says staff asked them to leave once the two hours were up. One post adds that you can't change seats, and another that pairs may not take tables for three or more or move chairs and tables.
  3. One writer called it expensive, citing 5,800 won for an americano and 6,300 won for a latte, and noted that everyone must order a drink even if you order dessert. Another couple spent 37,600 won on two desserts and two drinks.

Getting inside

Second floor6 of 14 posts
In a basementyes 1 · no 3 (of 14 posts read)

Most seating is upstairs: six posts say they ordered on the lower floor and went up to sit. Two sat at the big upstairs windows, and one contrasted the bright, open window side with a cosier inner room. One post noted there are also a few seats on the ordering floor.

Posts disagree on what to call the ordering floor: three say the ground floor, one says the basement. The registered address lists both a partial basement and the ground floor, so they may mean the same level, but nobody said whether you go down steps from the street.

None of the visit posts say whether there is a step at the entrance, whether a wheelchair or stroller can reach the upstairs seating, or whether there is a lift. One information-only post claimed the café was designed with strollers and wheelchairs in mind, but nobody described it first-hand, so we didn't count it. Bear in mind that most seats are upstairs.

One post said the toilet was clean, but nobody said whether it is inside the café, which floor it is on, or whether it is split by gender.

No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 20 posts we gathered, 6 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2026-08-072 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • No post praised the staff. One writer found them curt, felt rushed to choose, and added that the menu has no photos.
  • Six posts give the same opening hours, 12:00 to 21:00, mostly copied from the listing. One says it is open every day of the year; nobody mentions a last-order time or a break.
  • Two posts copied the phone number, 070-8838-3815, from the listing. Nobody said whether the café takes reservations.
  • The menu turns over with the seasons: July–August visits found peach tiramisu, dacquoise and plates, September visits found fig. One writer says strawberries take over in winter. Check which fruit is on before you go.
