CHUNG KI WA TOWN

청기와타운 영등포본점 Cheonggiwa Town Yeongdeungpo Bonjeom Cheonggiwa means blue roof tiles — the storefront wears a blue-tiled roof, and the lettering inside reads 'Blue Roof Town'.

A beef short-rib house on the first and second floors of 32-4 Yeongjung-ro 10-gil, tucked into the food alley by Yeongdeungpo Station. The Suwon-style marinated rib comes on a 15 cm bone at 31,000 won a portion, the unmarinated rib at 36,000 won, and staff grill everything over charcoal and cut it for you. Many tables add truffle beef tartare (28,000 won) and perilla-oil buckwheat noodles (13,000 won); weekday lunch adds soups like galbitang (16,000 won). Five posts mention cutlery served standing in hot water. We read 30 posts dated 7 January to 15 October 2026. We set aside 14 that were about other businesses (Yakiho in the same building's basement, the Cheonggiwa Garden brand, other Cheonggiwa Town branches), did not count 4 lists and brand write-ups, and counted the 12 that describe eating here.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. You don't grill here. Ten of the 12 visit posts say staff cooked the meat from start to finish. Two describe the routine: the rib is cut and moved to the cooler edge, the bone goes in the middle with steamed kimchi and garlic, and later a server comes back to scrape every last bit off the bone and grill it. Staff also tell you to eat the plain rib before the marinated ones.
  2. There are lockers by the entrance for coats and bags. Four posts mention them, one saying both floors have them; all used them to keep the smoke out of their clothes.
  3. No post describes waiting. The three posts that bring it up all walked straight in: one on a weekday at 1:40 pm found it quiet, one with a Saturday booking thought they hadn't needed it, and one long-time visitor says it is much quieter than in its early days. One post notes guests kept arriving after 1 pm on a Sunday. Three posts booked ahead.
  4. Birthday guests get seaweed soup. Two birthday-date posts got the soup, then played a first-birthday-style 'doljabi' game wearing a traditional hat; picking the coin won them the cheesy radish fried rice (15,000 won on the menu) on the house. A parent writes that staff brought soup for her daughter without being asked. Seven posts call the staff friendly.

  1. Four posts are from repeat visitors: one first came for a work dinner, then with parents, then again; one came with a friend and returned with her husband; one says it was her second visit; one had been in the early days and came back.

Parking

1 posts say you cannot park. None say you can.

Posts saying you cannot1 of 12 posts

There appears to be no parking of its own. One post says parking isn't possible and that the nearest lot, Central Parking, costs 6,000 won an hour. Several repeat that a Naver booking coupon gives two free hours on Sundays, but that is copied or hearsay; nobody says they used it.

Getting inside

Second floor5 of 12 posts
In a basementyes 0 · no 5 (of 12 posts read)
Separate restrooms1 of 12 posts

The restaurant takes both the first and second floors. Five posts describe the two floors and seven call it spacious. Six mention private rooms: one says there is a room on the first floor and one seating up to 12 upstairs, another counts two separate rooms at the back of the second floor. One evening visitor found the first floor already full and was seated upstairs.

Five posts place the restaurant on the first and second floors. Yakiho, in the same building's basement, is a separate yakitori bar; nine of its posts give its address as 'Cheonggiwa Town basement', and we set them all aside.

No post says whether there is a step at the door, whether the second floor is stairs-only, or whether there is a lift, and nobody describes coming in with a wheelchair or stroller. That doesn't mean there isn't access — nobody wrote about it.

No one wrote from experience whether the toilets are inside the restaurant or in the building corridor (one 'toilet on premises' line is copied from a listing). One post says they are separate for men and women and clean; another says clean.

No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 16 posts we gathered, 4 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Several posts give the walk from Yeongdeungpo Station exit 5 ('5–7 minutes', '6 minutes', '366 m'), but all of it is copied listing info; no post describes actually walking from the station.
  • Opening hours: ten visit posts say 11:30–22:00 daily, six of them with last order at 21:00, and none disagree — though seven copy a listing block. No post mentions a break time; one block lists holiday closures.
  • Prices hold steady from April to October 2026: the Suwon rib is 31,000 won a portion (five visit posts), the plain rib 36,000 won, and the big ribs come in two-portion minimums — so two people start at 62,000 won for meat alone. No post gives a total bill. One writer calls it pricey enough to worry the wallet. A January 2026 list post quoting 28,000 won says its own figures are made up, so we ignored it.
  • Five posts give the phone number as 0507-1316-1474; one gives 02-2068-9203. Three posts booked through Naver, and one copies a note that parties of five or more should call the restaurant.
  • Of the 12 visit posts, four say the writer paid; eight say nothing either way. Three October 2026 posts follow the same template in the same order — listing block, two floors and private rooms, a run-down of twelve side dishes, Suwon rib with truffle tartare and perilla noodles, then the review-event pineapple sorbet — though none discloses sponsorship.
