Ilpyeon Deungsim Gangnam

일편등심 강남점 A basement grill house a few minutes from Gangnam Station where the staff cook top-grade Korean beef at your table.

Data as of · Published ·

Ilpyeon Deungsim Gangnam grills Korean beef in a basement off the lane behind Exit 11 at Gangnam Station. It advertises only the top marbling score within the 1++ grade, and you do not cook here — a member of staff grills each cut to its own doneness, slices it and moves it to a small warmer beside the brazier. Every one of the thirteen first-hand posts describes this. Almost everyone orders a set: eight of the thirteen took the Hanu Hanmari A at ₩168,000, which is priced for two and ends with a choice of rice, tofu stew or beef stew. Single cuts run ₩43,000–53,000 per 100g. Open 11am to 11pm daily with an hour's break in the afternoon. The posts we read run from May to September 2026.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. All thirteen first-hand posts say the same thing: the staff do the grilling. We have not seen a claim this unanimous. Someone manages the charcoal, cooks each cut to its own point, slices it and moves it to a small warmer beside the brazier — four writers note that meat grilled all at once goes cold, and that here the last piece was still warm. Six give the same reason for choosing the place: nobody has to hold the tongs, so the table can talk. Two mention that the person grilling for them was a young foreign employee who spoke fluent Korean.
  2. Eleven writers say it is a short walk from Gangnam Station — but they disagree about which exit. Nine say Exit 11, one says Exit 1, and a scraped listicle says Exit 12. The walk is variously two, three or five minutes; one post measures it at 168 metres from Exit 11. One writer set out to drive and ended up taking the subway because a large SUV will not fit the mechanical car park. Not one of the thirteen arrived by bus.
  3. You may bring your own bottle — and nobody did. Eight posts mention free corkage and four copy out the terms: one bottle of wine per two main portions, one whisky per four, one bottle with set A and two with set B, and nothing that was not agreed in advance. Yet not one of the thirteen says they brought anything. One ordered house wine by the glass, one a bottle of soju, and one who was not drinking chose a ginger beer. Two posts end by resolving to bring wine next time.
  4. The price band above (₩43,000–₩53,000) is one 100g plate, not one meal. What people actually spent here is far more: not one of the thirteen ordered à la carte, and all eleven who name what they had ordered a set. The common one, Hanu Hanmari A, is ₩168,000 — priced for two, so about ₩84,000 a head. Three friends shared the ₩236,000 set and called it the right amount. Four writers call the place expensive and none of the four stops there — they say it costs more than an ordinary grill house, that it is not a weeknight place, and then they name the occasion: an anniversary, a new job. One number does not agree with itself: the ₩168,000 set is 400g in one account and 380g in two others, and one of those breaks it down as 130g of sirloin plus 250g of specialty cuts. We cannot tell which is current.
  5. Two writers mention foreign customers. One looked around and concluded that tourists come here for the beef; the other, who found the room full of them, adds that people kept glancing over at her table on the way past, and that it bothered her a little — one of the few complaints anyone makes about this place. Two posts say the person grilling for them was a foreigner speaking fluent Korean, and one describes a menu printed in English and Chinese characters alongside the Korean.

Parking

2 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park2 of 13 posts

Almost everything written about parking is copied from the restaurant's own notice — the YBM building garage nearby, one car per table, two hours, ticket from the till afterwards. Eleven posts repeat it; only two writers actually tried it. One parked and collected the ticket. The other could not: it is a mechanical stacker, and a large SUV does not fit — one post reproduces the limits as 5,050mm long and 1,900mm high. The garage closing at 10pm, with cars out by 9:55, also comes from the notice rather than from anyone's evening. For a big car "parking available" may amount to no parking, and exactly one person found that out first-hand.

Getting inside

In a basement7 of 13 posts
Toilet inside1 of 13 posts
Separate restrooms1 of 13 posts

It is one floor below ground. You turn off the main road into a lane, find the sign and take the stairs down; seven writers describe that descent. One navigates by the restaurant upstairs, another by the noodle shop across the way. At the bottom there is a heavy wooden door, and several posts describe the bamboo, the water wheel and the small pond just inside it. Nobody calls the windowless room stuffy — two say the opposite, that the basement stays cool and that the extraction keeps the smell of charcoal off your clothes.

Nobody writes about getting in with a wheelchair or a pushchair. In thirteen first-hand posts the words wheelchair, pushchair, threshold and ramp do not appear once. All we know is that the room is a flight of stairs below street level, and not one writer says whether there is a lift. We will not turn "there are stairs" into "you cannot get in" — this is something we have not been able to check.

One writer out of thirteen mentions the toilets. That post, from May 2026, says they are inside the restaurant, separate for men and women, and well kept. A second post lists "group seating, men's and women's toilets" — but that is a line lifted from the map listing, so we do not count it as something anyone saw. How many cubicles there are, and whether they are the restaurant's own or the building's, nobody says.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 26 posts we gathered, 13 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2026-09-302 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • There are twenty-nine posts and we counted thirteen. Sixteen are not accounts of a visit. Thirteen came off a template: blog handles that are random strings, bodies of uniform length and section count, no dish ordered and no price anywhere, and not one first-person verb in any of them. They never call the restaurant by its name — they call it by the search phrase "Yeoksam-dong meat restaurant," six or seven times per post. The other three are scraped listicles such as "Top 10 beef restaurants near Gangnam Station," carrying the map widget and the addresses and phone numbers of two dozen other businesses. None of the sixteen declares sponsorship, but none of them reads as a visit either. Counting them would have turned thirteen into twenty-nine and more than doubled every number on this page.
  • Hardly anyone queued, because hardly anyone arrived without booking. One post mentions a queue at all: on a Saturday in September 2026 the writer walked past a very long line straight to a table they had reserved. Three more say they booked; one notes that the booking system keeps the room calm even when full. Not one of the thirteen turned up without a reservation and reported the wait — what a weekday lunchtime looks like, we do not know.
  • The dessert was traded for the review. Pineapple sherbet appears in nine of the thirteen visits, and four writers say plainly that it is what you get for posting a receipt review — one of them says that is how she got hers. That is why a hollowed-out pineapple is the closing photograph of so many posts about this place. Two posts declare sponsorship outright — one tags a clip #sponsored, the other labels it paid advertising. Two say they paid their own way, one was treated by a friend, and the remaining eight say nothing at all about who paid.
  • The private room is less private than it sounds. One writer asked for one when booking and reports that it was not the fully separate space she had pictured. What the other posts describe is not a room but tall wooden partitions between tables — two say you cannot catch the eye of the next table, and that the seating is divided without being enclosed. Whether there is a room with a door, nobody says.
