Korean

Eommason Dwaejibulbaek

엄마손 돼지불백 Eommason means 'mother's hand', the Korean phrase for home cooking, and dwaeji bulbaek is a set meal of fire-stir-fried marinated pork with rice.

Compiled from 24 blog posts read in fullSources →

A drivers' diner on Hancheon-ro in Gangbuk-gu, on the main road between 4.19 Cemetery and Gaori stations. It serves soy-marinated pork bulbaek, a gochujang version, grilled fish and stews, and you help yourself to side dishes, rice, soup and scorched-rice tea from a self-serve bar. Posts from August 2026 list pork bulbaek at 12,000 won, gochujang bulbaek at 13,000, fish at 14,000–15,000 and stews at 10,000; April–July prices were about 1,000 won lower. We read 30 posts from April to October 2026, set aside 5 about other restaurants (two about Gungjeon Hoegwan across the street, one about the Sanggye branch, among others), and 25 describe eating here.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Of the 25 visit posts, 22 said you take as much as you like from the side-dish bar and go back for more. Several describe staff bringing rice, soup and lettuce with the main, after which you refill rice and soup yourself from the cooker and pot on the bar. The self-serve tteokbokki came up in 19 posts, more than any other food — but one post said it is there some days and not others, and a June 2026 post found stir-fried kimchi in its place.
  2. Which bulbaek you order decides the heat. The 4 posts that had the gochujang version called it spicy, while 2 posts on the soy-based one said it was not. Eight posts mentioned sweetness — 'a sweet finish', 'moderately sweet and salty'.
  3. Five posts touched on waiting. Three were seated right away despite a full room (around 1:40 pm on a weekday, just after 1 pm), one met a two-party queue on a weekend that moved quickly, and one said only that waits tend to be short. Two posts said the food arrived fast, in under ten minutes.
  4. Seven posts came from regulars or return visitors ('been coming for four years', 'second visit'). Two said they would not come back — one because the meat portion felt small for the price, the other because it preferred two rival diners on the same street.

Parking

9 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park9 of 24 posts

Nine posts said from experience that there is parking in front of the restaurant. Two gave a size: four to five cars, and about five cars. Two posts said they drove and parked there. One post found it cramped and suggested walking or public transport. Valet parking appears only in copied info blocks, so we do not count it.

Getting inside

Step at the entrance1 of 24 posts

No post said from experience which floor it is on. The registered address says ground floor, but that is copied, not something a visitor reported.

Only one post described the entrance: a slight step as you go in. No post mentions getting in with a wheelchair or stroller — not that it is impossible, just that no one wrote about it.

No post said whether the toilet is inside or whether it is separated by gender. We do not know.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • Prices went up. Posts from April–May 2026 list pork bulbaek at 11,000 won and a July post the large at 15,000; from August it is 12,000 and 16,000. Mackerel went from 12,000 won in April to 14,000 from August; a June post says 13,000, and we cannot tell whether that was an interim price.
  • Two posts went with children. An April 2026 post with a two- and a three-year-old said there were no high chairs; nobody has said whether that has changed.
  • The space next door has changed. The restaurant once used it as an annex; three posts from June 2026 on say it is now a kalguksu shop and only the main room operates. We do not know when the annex closed.
  • Only one post described actually walking in from a station (from Bukhansan Ui). Several posts repeat '600 m from exit 1 of 4.19 Cemetery station', but that is copied directions.
  • Sixteen posts give the hours as 24 hours and none disagree; 10 say it never closes. Most of these are copied info lines, though. Posts found it open at 9 am, 10:30 am, 5:30 pm, 6 pm and 11:30 am on a weekend, but no one wrote about going in the small hours.
  • Two phone numbers circulate: 0507-1403-3684 in four posts and 02-999-3684 in three. No post said whether it takes reservations.
