Danmak

단막 Danmak is short for danji hwadeok makchang — pork tripe first roasted in a 450-degree clay-jar (danji) oven, then finished at the table.

Compiled from 22 blog posts read in fullSources →

A tripe house on a side street between Seokchon Lake and Songridan-gil, at 40 Baekjegobun-ro 41-gil, Songpa-gu. The tripe is pre-roasted in a 450-degree clay-jar oven, then staff finish it at your table on a buttered grill with leeks and mushrooms and cut it for you. Plain oven tripe is 17,000 won and leek-stuffed tripe 18,000 won per 250 g; most meals end with iron-plate fried rice (7,000 won) or a Gyeongsang-style pork stew (9,000 won). We read 30 posts dated June 21 to October 19, 2026; 22 describe an actual meal. A June 2026 post says the leek tripe had just been added to the menu.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. Staff do the grilling. Of 22 posts describing a meal, 18 say an employee cooked everything start to finish — butter around the edge for leeks and mushrooms, tripe in the middle, cut with scissors. One post differs: arriving around 9 pm just before last order, the writer's husband grilled. Another found it a little awkward having staff hovering while chatting with friends.
  2. The tripe arrives already roasted; 17 posts say so, and one notes you can see the clay-jar oven through a window by the entrance. The 20-portions-a-day limit on the leek tripe and its 1, 4 and 8 pm batches come from the shop's own notice. One diner who came at 7 pm on a Tuesday still got it.
  3. Expect to wait at dinner; 10 posts mention a queue. Recorded waits: under 10 minutes; 20-30 minutes (Saturday 9:30 pm, party of six); about an hour (13th on the Catch Table remote list at 5:20 pm Saturday, seated 6:20). A regular wrote that 30 minutes to an hour is normal. Two posts walked in around 6 pm on a weekday and found a line on the way out; one got straight in at 4:30 on a weekend afternoon.
  4. You can book, but only for certain hours. Three posts booked through Naver or Catch Table. One explained that regular bookings (2-9 people) only cover slots up to 5:30 pm Monday-Thursday and 4 pm Friday-Saturday; a Saturday-night group confirmed they couldn't book after 4 pm and queued on site.

  1. On smell, posts agree: 8 say the tripe had no gamey odor, and none say it did.
  2. The heat is in the extras. Seven posts call something spicy — the fire tripe, fried rice, pork stew or rice pot, not the plain tripe. One rated the fire tripe about as hot as Shin Ramyun; another suggests asking for the fried rice milder.

Parking

Posts saying you can park4 of 22 posts

There is a small lot. Four posts parked or saw it: two hours validated on the way out, free with a receipt, free on the same block, and plenty of room at 6 pm on a Saturday. Copied listings describe a cramped lot behind the building, next to a shabu restaurant, that takes only the first one or two cars when there's a queue; one copied listing even says no parking.

Getting inside

Second floor2 of 22 posts
In a basementyes 0 · no 1 (of 22 posts read)
Toilet insideyes 0 · no 1 (of 22 posts read)

There is an upstairs. Two posts sat on the second floor; one described a ground floor lined with four-person tables and three more tables upstairs, quieter than below. The shop is at street level, not a basement.

We don't know whether the entrance has a step or takes a wheelchair or stroller — no diner mentioned it. 'Wheelchair accessible' appears only in one post copying the Naver listing, so we don't rely on it. Nobody said whether the second floor is reached by stairs or a lift.

Only one post describes the restroom: it is outside the dining room, which the writer found inconvenient. 'Separate men's and women's restrooms' appears only in copied listings.

No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 26 posts we gathered, 4 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Only two posts describe arriving by subway — one walked from Jamsil Station, one says Seokchon Station is walkable. The '501 m from Seokchon exit 1' line is copied. Nobody mentions a bus.
  • Opening hours agree only on the 1 pm start. Thirteen posts list Monday-Thursday 1-11 pm and Friday-Saturday 1 pm-midnight, but Sunday splits: 11:30 pm in eight posts, 11 pm in three, midnight in two. One post says 11 pm daily, another midnight daily. Nearly all are copied listings, so check before going.
  • Menu prices are consistent but the bill varies. A couple with the two-person set and two highballs paid close to 40,000 won each; friends with four leek-tripe portions, two of pork belly, stew and drinks paid about 130,000; a couple who ate a lot paid 134,000 and noticed other tables at 70-80,000. One post calls it expensive; another says not cheap but worth it.
  • Opinions on space differ: six posts call it roomy with well-spaced tables, while a party of six found it not very large, mostly two- and four-tops. Another counted about 20 tables, neither cramped nor spacious.
  • One post saw a posted two-hour seating limit; another heard it applies only when people are waiting. We can't say whether it is always enforced.
  • Seven posts give the phone number as 02-2202-8088; one lists 0507-1429-8095. Several mention booking via Naver and remote queueing via Catch Table.
  • Six posts from October 13-17, 2026 share the same phrases in the same order and the same hashtags. None discloses sponsorship, but they look commissioned. Five posts say the writer paid their own way.
