A noodle-and-dumpling house on an alley at Bukchon-ro 5-gil 78, right next to the MMCA Seoul. Beef-bone kalguksu, dumpling soup and a plate of big dumplings are all 13,000 won; groups add bossam (55,000 won large) or boiled beef. Staff fold dumplings at the ground-floor entrance; the ground floor is an open hall and the upper floor is divided into rooms. We read 30 posts from 5 June to 19 October 2026; 18 describe an actual meal. Four were about other branches (Seoul Square, Incheon Airport) or the museum and were set aside, and eight were ranking or roundup lists we did not count.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Expect a line. Eight posts say they waited and five walked straight in. Stated waits: 5 minutes on a weekday at 2-3 pm, 35 minutes at the tail of the Chuseok holiday, over 40 minutes at 3 pm on a weekend, 40-50 minutes at weekend lunch. The five who walked in came on a Sunday evening, in the early evening, 20 minutes before opening, or early in the day. There are no tickets and no app queue: you line up in order of arrival and shuffle along a row of chairs.
  2. Eleven posts mention a long row of waiting chairs in front of the shop, some noting orange chairs that let you sit while you wait. One long-time visitor wrote that the same spot used to be a parking space where people stood in line.
  3. Four posts noticed many foreign diners, including a solo traveller ordering beer, dumplings and noodles, and a group of Japanese guests.
  4. The verdict on taste leans toward solid but plain: four posts called it unremarkable, and one said they would not come back. Six others were repeat visitors. The two kimchis, fresh-made and white, drew praise again and again.

Parking

2 posts say you cannot park. None say you can.

Posts saying you cannot2 of 18 posts

Two posts say outright you cannot park at the shop, and two were told to use the Jeongdok Library or MMCA car parks. Many posts carry a copied 'no parking' line, and one carries a copied 'parking/valet available'; we treat both as copied info, not evidence.

Getting inside

Second floor6 of 18 posts
In a basementyes 0 · no 3 (of 18 posts read)

Six posts were seated upstairs. Five describe the upper floor as separate rooms; two mention floor-seating rooms and one reminds you to keep track of your shoes. A party of seven (four adults, three children) was given a private room.

We don't know whether there is a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or stroller gets in. Three posts place the entrance on the ground floor, but nobody mentioned steps or thresholds.

We don't know where the toilet is or whether it is split by gender. One post has a copied 'toilet inside' line; nobody described using it.

No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 26 posts we gathered, 8 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2026-10-132 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Opinions on salt split: two posts found the broth salty, three said it was not. One noted the noodle soup is saltier than the dumpling soup.
  • No post describes walking from a subway station or bus stop; lines like '649 m from Anguk Station exit 2' are copied. Most visitors walked over from the MMCA or Gyeongbokgung.
  • We don't know whether it takes reservations; posts only describe the walk-up line. Many posts give the same phone number, 02-739-6334.
  • Ten posts list the same hours, daily 11:00-21:30 with last order at 20:30, but all are copied listings. One adds that it closes on the day of Seollal and Chuseok.
  • Every visit post gives 13,000 won for the noodle soup, dumpling soup and dumplings. The 12,000-won figure appears only in three posts copying public listings and looks out of date. One post found the prices on the high side.
  • The place has been renamed: three posts repeat that it opened in 2001 as Bukchon Kalguksu and took its current name in 2014, and one writer recalls it from childhood under the old name. Posts about the Seoul Station and Incheon Airport branches are not counted here.
