Gamachi Tongdak's Guro Digital branch is a five-to-seven-minute walk from Guro Digital Complex station, on the Siheung-daero strip. It fries chicken the old way — a whole bird in a cauldron, thin batter — alongside modern fried, soy-glazed and gganpung versions. The most-ordered thing is the set: one whole bird plus fried gizzards and fries. You order from a tablet at the table, and puffed corn, pickled radish, salt and sauces come from a self-serve bar. Several posts came after work for chicken and beer, or as the second stop of a company dinner. Every post that gives hours says it opens at 3pm; they disagree on whether it closes at 11pm or midnight. The posts we read run from October 2024 to July 2026.

What sets it apart
- It is a fried-chicken shop with a real dining room, and that is the thing posts say most often about it. Two of them say so as a surprise: places like this usually run a small counter and live on delivery. One describes the layout — takeout orders at the front, and a long walk back to the seating. No post calls it cramped.
- Snacks come free and you refill them yourself. The self-serve bar holds puffed corn, macaroni crisps, pickled radish, seasoned salt, ketchup, mustard and side plates. One post is there for the macaroni crisps alone — unlimited, and their favourite; another says a second trip to the bar covers the wait for the food. After the size of the room, this bar is the thing posts mention most.
- The batter is thin. This is cauldron chicken, not the thick-crusted modern kind, and the bird arrives quartered. Posts reach for childhood when describing it — the light, dry crunch of the fried chicken they grew up on — and one came specifically hunting that thin skin. If you want the thick modern batter, one post notes there is a separate item for it. Nobody calls the coating soggy.
- Tablets at each table mean you rarely flag anyone down. One post explains that most items let you pick boneless, on the bone, or a wing-and-drumstick combo, and two say bundling them into a set is cheaper. One post, though, had to ask staff for something and got no answer, which left the table awkward.

Not one post says whether a wheelchair or a stroller can get in. No one mentions a step at the door, a ramp, or the width of the entrance. All we can confirm from the posts is that it is on the ground floor, facing the main road.

Of the 12 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- No post says what floor it is on or whether there are stairs. The registry and the map check-in both append '1F', but that is the listing's own line, copied along with the address, not something a writer saw. Several posts describe walking in from the main road; none says whether they stepped up, or straight in.
- Two posts say the toilet is inside, and one places the little self-serve bar right in front of it. But no one says whether it is split by gender, or how big it is.
- Posts disagree about closing time — three say 11pm, two say midnight, and the dates overlap, so it is not a change we can date. Only one writer checked with their own eyes: they walked in because the sign said midnight, and were turned out at eleven. The sign may say midnight while the kitchen stops at eleven, but that is one person's account and we are not calling it. If you are going late, phone first.
- Why eleven and not seventeen. Gamachi Tongdak is a chain, and three posts that matched the name were about other branches — Eungam, Sumyeongsan, and a delivery ordered from a writer's parents' house. A fourth was an ad for the Chinese restaurant upstairs next door, where our shop appears only as a landmark. Of the thirteen that remained, two were delivery-only and had nothing to say about the room, so they are out of the denominator. Eleven posts, eleven people.
- One post discloses a comp — the June 2025 gganpung review opens by saying the food was provided. Ten say nothing either way, and three of those state they paid themselves. One caution: the July 2026 post has prices and dish names, so we kept it, but it never once says 'I ate' or 'I ordered' and reads end to end as advice to the reader, which is what commissioned copy looks like.
- No one queued. One post found it quiet before 7pm and full soon after; another walked in at six on a Friday and had room to spare. It clearly fills up, but nobody reports waiting — and nobody says whether it takes bookings.
- It delivers too — one post ordered through Coupang Eats and one through Baemin, and between them they name a 'geunbon set' (bird plus gizzards, ₩24,000) and a honey-garlic scallion chicken. Neither post is in the denominator or the menu counts above, since neither saw the room. One of them notes that delivery orders do not include pickled radish or sauce; you buy those or claim them through the review promotion.
