Yeong Sikpum

영식품 Sikpum means food goods, the word old Korean corner grocery shops put on their signs; the posts give no meaning for Yeong.

Compiled from 14 blog posts read in fullSources →

Yeong Sikpum is a neighborhood grocery that doubles as a beer-and-snacks bar (a gamaekjip) at Seongsu-iro 126, near Seongsu Station. You take snacks, cup noodles and drinks from the shelves and fridge yourself, and two women cook the bar food behind the counter. Most dishes are 10,000 to 20,000 won (tofu with kimchi, rolled omelette and saury stew are 15,000), and at lunch there is a set meal (7,000 won in a June 2025 post) plus noodles and gimbap. The dish mentioned most is gimbap-jeon, gimbap dipped in egg and pan-fried. We read 21 posts from October 2024 to October 2026; 15 describe actual visits. Two were about Dojo, a Japanese place in the same building, and were set aside. No post disclosed sponsorship; two said they paid their own way.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Nobody called it expensive. Of the 15 visits, 8 commented on price, all calling it cheap or fair.
  2. Many posts come from regulars: 5 say they have been back repeatedly. Two by the same writer call it their usual second stop after drinks in Seongsu, and another says it was a lunch and dinner haunt from a former job nearby.
  3. Two posts single out how clean it is for an old shop, one saying they had never seen such a tidy gamaekjip anywhere in Seoul.

The most ordered dish is gimbap-jeon (김밥전) — 5 of 14 posts.

The prices here are what bloggers wrote down in their posts, and they may have changed since. Check Naver Place for the current menu and prices. This list is not a menu board — it counts what bloggers actually ordered and ate. Check on Naver Place

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

Toilet inside2 of 14 posts

No post describes which floor it is on or how you enter; only the address says ground floor.

Nobody mentions a step at the door, stairs, or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. That means we don't know, not that there are none.

Two posts say the toilet is inside; one found it very pleasant, the other said it is reached through what feels like the kitchen back door, almost outdoors. Nobody mentions whether it is separated by gender.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 18 posts we gathered, 4 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Accounts of the size differ: two posts found it roomy (one counted about eight four-person tables), one called it cramped with about six tables.
  • Eight posts list opening hours; six give 07:00 to 22:00, mostly copied from the Naver listing. In practice closing seems to have moved earlier: posts from October 2024 and May 2025 stayed until 10 pm, but two February 2026 posts and one from October 2026 were told to leave at 9. Only one post states Sundays are closed; another writer twice says they think it closes Sundays. Check before going.
  • Some prices rose between October 2024 and October 2026: ham from 8,000 to 10,000 won, chicken-feet terrine from 12,000 to 15,000, boiled pork from 18,000 to 20,000, and grilled bakdae from 18,000 to 20,000. The stews, tofu with kimchi and rolled omelette stayed at 15,000.
  • No post reports waiting in line. Four talk about getting a seat: one found a single other table on a summer evening, one says it is usually full but was quiet that day, one warns it can be packed with older locals and suggests coming after 8, and one found it empty at 7 on a Friday but had barely squeezed in last time behind two groups.
  • Four posts give the same phone number, 02-469-2900. Nobody says whether it takes reservations; one post simply suggests calling ahead to ask if there are seats.
  • One post says it is a three-minute walk from Seongsu Station; another post's line giving 284 m from exit 2 is copied listing data.
  • Only a few posts say who they came with: two came as a work or social group, one with a friend. Several stopped in as a second round after dinner elsewhere.
