Yakitori Yoin

야키토리 요인 Yakitori Yoin Yakitori is the Japanese word for grilled chicken skewers; none of the posts explains what 'Yoin' means.

Compiled from 24 blog posts read in fullSources →

A yakitori counter in a side street off Seongdeokjeong 21-gil, near Ttukdo Market in Seongsu. You sit at the bar and the owner grills skewers over charcoal one at a time: each person picks a five-skewer (15,000 won) or seven-skewer (21,000 won) course, and everyone must order a drink. It opens at 5 p.m. and runs past midnight. We read 30 posts from 21 May to 24 September 2026; 4 were about other places, 1 was too thin to tell whether the writer visited, and we counted 25 as visits.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. A drink per person is compulsory: 17 posts say so, and 12 say each person must also order a skewer course. One adds that the whole party has to pick the same course. Several non-drinkers met the rule with a non-alcoholic peach or hibiscus highball.
  2. It is counter seating only: 12 posts say every seat is at the bar, and 18 say you watch the skewers being grilled right in front of you. Seat counts are given as 12 at most (two posts), about 11, and about 10. One post says the seat just left of the entrance is the most private spot on the U-shaped bar.
  3. A complimentary starter arrives when you sit down; 13 posts mention it, mostly describing konjac or glass noodles tossed with seaweed stems in a tart dressing. Several also note fresh wasabi served on the side.
  4. Eleven posts call it quiet; one says sound does not echo at all, and several put it down to the side-street location away from Seongsu's main drag. Companions: a partner or spouse in 6 posts, friends in 3, family in 1.
2 more
  1. Eight posts say there is no gamey smell, often about the heart skewer, and none say otherwise. 'Butchered the same day' is the shop's own claim, so we do not count it.
  2. Skewers come one at a time, so it takes a while. Two posts call it slow; one says seven skewers took about two hours, another that the tsukune alone took nearly ten minutes. Several suggest it as a second stop rather than a first meal.

Getting inside

Toilet insideyes 0 · no 2 (of 24 posts read)

No post describes the floor from experience; the '1st floor' in the address is copied. That is not proof either way, only that nobody wrote about it.

No post mentions a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in; we do not know. Many posts do say all seating is on bar stools.

Two posts say the toilet is outside the shop; a third says only that it is to the right, which could be either. One mentions it was clean and stocked with mouthwash. Nobody says whether it is split by gender.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 25 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • One post says it is about a ten-minute walk from Seongsu Station exit 3 and easy by public transport; lines like '823 m' or '12 minutes on foot' are copied listings. Another post drove because it seemed far from the subway.
  • No post describes queueing. Instead, 7 say they booked or that booking is possible. One found three parties there around 7 p.m. on a weekday; another says it runs three seatings at 5:00, 7:30 and 10:00 p.m. That does not mean there is never a wait, only that nobody wrote about one.
  • Opening hours mostly come from copied blocks. Eight posts agree: opens at 5 p.m., closed Mondays, open until 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. One post alone says it opens at 7 p.m. and closes on Sundays, and another swaps the Friday–Saturday and weekday closing times. Only one gives last orders: midnight, or 1 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
  • Posts from July to September 2026 agree on 15,000 won for five skewers and 21,000 for seven; one post from 22 August alone gives 17,000 and 23,000. With one draft beer at 9,000 won, a person spends roughly 24,000 to 30,000 won. Six posts say it is not expensive and none say it is.
  • Many posts give the same phone number, 0507-1321-0997. Most say they booked through Catchtable, and one mentions Naver booking; nobody says they reserved by phone.
  • Several posts from late July to August repeat the same keyword, 'Seongsu omakase restaurant', and list the house rules in the same order. None disclose payment, but one ends with a banner for a blogger-review platform. Setting that group aside does not change the counts above much.
